We're back playing more Street Fighter 3: Third Strike online (via Fightcade). Today my Ibuki is facing off against one of the game's low tiers, who can be very dangerous in the right hands! That's right, it's Q. The taunting, command throw combo machine gave me a run for my money, but it was a really fun match regardless! Enjoy, and make sure to stop by my stream to watch me continue the 3s grind!

I don’t think i’ll ever stop being amazed by the fluency and quality of third strikes sprites and animations. Have never played the game personally but I can safely say its one of my favourites to watch.

Yeah, looks like he parried your standing heavy at 11:00, guy was really good at blocking and parrying your attacks. Add in the taunt buff and he was a rock on hit points.

I straight up love Q's play style. He exemplifies the standards of Shotokan far more than even Ryu or Ken - Observe, defend, Punish. Never make the first move but Always make the last.

I feel like that Q player wasn’t that good. He didn’t confirm any supers that he did (he got lucky to hit them), he missed a lot of opportunities to taunt, and he did nothing of value after his command grabs.

Yeah what the hell was that command grab into jumping jab that he did at least twice? He gave up a grip of damage for a completely ineffective mixup (if you can even call it that).

Don't sleep on Q. Even though he's considered low/mid. He has top tier damage output. So if he touches you it's gonna hurt.

I think parry makes characters like hugo and Q way more scary, when a player has lots of game experience and consistent parries they become very strong especially vs low middle level players who arent quite that deep in the parry/read/bait meta.

Your words are true in regards to "In the right hands, they can do a lot of work" I didn't like 3rd strike until I moved to Japan and saw how this game was meant to be played, after that I was hooked. Name any character, In my 7 years there, I have witnessed people who could mop the floor with them (yes even twelve against Chu Li or Yun). Keep practicing your Ibuki man, she's awesome (she's my main too) :D

Nice footage, love to see it (also just a quick tip: after stun, it’s more optimal to go for medium kick raida than the punch target combo, u get more hits but scaling hits hard)

Watching decent Q players always brightens up my day. I like watching the old android pull and push his heavy weight around productively By the by, aside from the fact that his design takes inspiration from old Japanese robot detective shows, he has the distinction of shutting down while standing when beaten by chip damage, rather than some other mannerism.

Also, when he gets shocked, his skeleton appears to be different. He's probably some android human hybrid of sorts. He can also cry in one of his winning poses.

@@MarcosVinicius-ge2ry G has 80% of Q’s moves, has his outfit, has a one letter name, has a mysterious background and origin, and appears in a game that is chronologically before Third Strike. G is half the answer to Q’s origin. Q is a brainwashed G with most of his powers stripped except for his damage reduction and explosive abilities. It’s still only half the answer as they’re keeping it a mystery still, but it’s not hard to connect dots and see a huge similarity lmao.

also the leading theory behind q is that he's either something made by g or an army of imperfect g clones that g can control, hence why q seems to be spotted in multiple places simultaneously.

There is amazing detail that SF3 third strike offers in the sprite animations, where I haven't seen it in any other 2d game, if you play dudley when you use the super power "Corkscrew Blow" you will notice that his cheeks move with the strength of his fist.

Yeah the thing about playing against characters like Q is that they are the type that sits in the back and waits for you to engage, so they have the upper hand because all they have to do is react to what you are doing, so the active player attacks, does damage here and there, but at the end they get you unless you are one of those super agressive players that throw 23425 attacks that eventually overwhelm the other player

Q is one of my favourites to play. He is unorthodox, yes, but once you master his specials, he is a great option. Don't sleep on his overhead dash punch! Hold HP when you do the Sonic Boom motion and he will do a dashing overhead punch rather than a dashing straight. Big damage from that

This Q player could've been way more menacing had he linked those command grabs more accurately. He misses one of Q strongest combo setups. Can't blame him, it's really challenging to catch your opponent midair with those dashing attacks, and the setup differs from character to character.

I think the connection between Q and G are a bit nebulous, although it seems possible that if G is an incarnation of the word/physical laws/some sort of belief that Q may have been an earlier incarnation or avatar, possibly an incomplete, inverted, or disapproving one.

Whenever I see a new 3s video about getting bodied by a low-tier character I think about all those Kuroda dvds. If you love watching 3s but you haven't seen Kuroda play look him up. He was at least a top 5 player on every single character His Q was particularly scary

the only really strong tool Q has is his kara throw, especially if someone is good enough to consistently kara into his command throw. Those are by far his strongest options.

Q can be pretty tough in the right hands and this player wasn't even particularly all that good compared to some of the top Qs. Kept on dropping the C&DB follow-up combos which can really eat away at the health bar and wasn't generally that proactive at taking advantage during times when they had an opening to taunt. You still playing 3rd Strike these days or have you given up on the B rank dream after SFVI came out?

I hate when people say “health pool” or “stamina” because it sounds confusing. The more accurate way to describe Q’s taunts is defense. I know there is no base defense stat in the game, but it does a better job at describing how his taunt works. Other than that, i love my tall 🅱️oi. He’s low tier, but the best of them.

Man its funny seeing third strike. I recently picked up 30th anniversary to play it and I'm really bad. Like can't hit a DP to save my life getting smoked by Alex players the whole time. Im hoping sf6 will be a smoother new player experience considering player numbers.

You can actually learn a lot by watching this guy Like jumping medium kick is his best all around air normal, HP and HK are good parry fuck ups, LP is his Air to Air etc

The only thing I'd change is either labbing and practicing the command grab follow ups because he whiffed a lot... Or just remember to taunt, if you get the grab early.
