According to him “they” wanted to go in a different direction. Ok. But what direction? Chad put a ton off tails in kayaks and kayak tournaments. So my guess is lot more To the story. Like bassmaster kayak series wanted more control or something along those lines bc with the popularity or fastest growing segment you have to think he played a part of that so I’d you know anything about Boyd Duckett it could be MLf is wanting their own Tournament trail and had/have the money to call the shots and waNt fresh blood or pick Their own spokesmen. That being said look at elite, FLW, and MLf bAit or boat sponsorships. Every new year you see a favorite Angler From previous year and the Jersey has new bait (s) sponsor and or boat sponsorship. It’s the name of the game and what have you done for me lately. Ex. Look at KVD how long was he at quantum? Now he’s at lews with own rods and reels and says it’s rods he’s wanted and waited on his 30+ year career. Several other Ex Jacob wheeler, Brandon palaniuk went to X Zone lures so as a pro it’s not unheard of. The ones that get with a sponsor and stay with them for their careers are lucky and unique. So you pull your boot stings up tighter, if you’re still whole heartedly believing in the product you lost ask for a conversation, you might learn what to or not to with next bc other opportunities will open for the right angler or possibly second chance with company you just left. Then there’s the first scenario I mentioned. Bottom line it comes down to the almighty dollar!!

Thoughtful words and mature outlook on this Chad. It really is about the MEANING each person CHOOSES to place on events that happen. How many times have you looked back on events that you originally perceived as “bad”, but now say that was the “best” thing that could have happened; because it allowed you create or see new options and relationships that are even more rewarding. Thanks for posting this and being a little vulnerable with everyone.

Chad, I've been watching your videos for some time now and have learned a ton about kayak fishing to the point of looking to purchase my first kayak. I've been a part of the tournament fishing scene out of traditional boats and have enjoyed above average success here in Canada. Your desire to teach/reflect the professional attributes needed to be a complete angler, even when it's shitty, have impressed me the most. Anyone can become a good angler but that same dedication needs to spill over into all aspects of life. The good, the bad and the down right ugly. Kudos to you for your honesty regarding tough and unexpected trials. That's life and the more we look into ourselves and our short comings, the greater potential we open up to grow and become better people. This is in short supply today with culture changes, social media and the Me, Me, Me movement prevalent throughout North America. Your message is an important one to anyone presently walking the earth, not just fisherman. Thank you for your honesty and the bravery to approach difficult circumstances with humility. Keep up the great work!!!

Just being honest here: Maybe they wanted more actual fishing content like you used to do. It’s been a long time since you’ve put out some 20 minute+ videos of you just on a kayak and fishing. You do one every now and then but not many. The old content was great…
@kevindye2166

THIS. Chad opened up this sport to alot of people and will always have my respect, but when it comes to fishing videos on youtube he has been lacking for a while. There are a ton of people who talk about bait, technic, and gear instead of exercising videos. Evolve or fall off.
@USA-sx1xi
@USA-sx1xi 3 года назад
I agree with Heather the old content of your fishing in your kayak was awesome. Loved watching you fish from the yak giving advice. Showing off new kayak accessories to the how to's for newbie's. Just like I miss Hooked On Wild Waters with Drew Gregory episodes. Not the same when he switched over from Jackson Kayaks to Crescent Kayaks and his RU-vid channel has not been interesting for me to watch. Now it's like watching a radio dj talking to another guy about fishing. Sometimes a change is not needed. If it works don't fix it. Sorry to hear about you being fired Chad. I do believe better things are yet to come for you brother.

I could be wrong but I feel Chad’s definitely gotten away from his roots. It seems he’s forgotten where he came and how he’s gotten to where he’s at. KBF began as a way for the average person on a budget to get on the water and enjoy bass fishing. Now it’s a popularity contest with who has the most expensive rig and generates the most likes. When chad started allowing motors into kbf i knew then it was just about the money. I mean pedals are a huge advantage over paddling but at least it’s still the person doing the work. Now days with lithium batteries people can cover an entire lake. That’s not kayaking, thats boating. Chad I really think you need to revisit your first videos and get back to doing what made you and this sport great, soul searching as you mentioned. I know this is you life, career, and means of making a living but at what cost? You’ll probably take offense to this but I think it’s something you need to hear.
@randywilson6869
@randywilson6869 3 года назад
@@jdmd15crx I don’t agree with you on the motor part but that’s ok. And I don’t agree with u on the pedal part not at all. Just hear me out please.a guy can get a kayak and paddle out to fish and have a ton of fun for not a lot of cash. Ok now we fish a tournament with other kayakers that we all do the same. But then here comes in the big boys with the hobies not at all in the same class as a paddle kayak. So it seems to me that why can’t I put a 100 dollar trolling motor with a car battery and now keep up with the hobie guy? Yes I know that a bunch has changed but it looks like if u want a big pay out at the end just look at who puts up the money it’s not the paddle makers. So if u think that it’s fair for pedal kayaks I think it’s fair for motors

In fact recently I started trying to figure out if you rebranded and I was subbed to the wrong RU-vid channel. I miss the kayak fishing. Even if it's not educational.. just some video of fishing and nature.

I still put out just as many fishing videos, I just decided to put out other videos too, to share what I was going through and hopefully help others that may have gone through the same thing or to be inspired to do so. The lost sponsor had nothing to do with that. In fact, they weren’t even a sponsor for the RU-vid Channel except for a short tip series, they were a sponsor of my TV series and that series over delivered for the expectations and deliverables.

@@ChadHooverFishing aaaaah. Ok that makes sense. I think I've just been unlucky and I've only been seeing the non-fishing videos recommended to me so far. I do enjoy them though! Sounds like I need to hunt down the fishing videos as well.

Go a step further and ask employers where you stand with them, always seek to know if expectations are shifting and you are not noticing. It’s hard, sometimes, to keep yourself in the game, so to speak. If the employer truly values you and your representation of their product in the community, they will be honest and then a dialogue occurs. Sometimes, things just don’t work out, but at the end of the day, you can part ways knowing that you tried. Not criticizing you Chad, I’m just looking at this through a different lens. I believe that what you’re saying is just as important. Keep your head up!

Heads up brother. As a veteran of 10 years as a combat medic (1994-2004) and 23 years in Law enforcement I look for the ways to get away. Your videos do that for me. I decided to sell my bass boat and to buy a side by side to help out around our property and decided to just buy a Big Fish 103 to continue my hobby of bass fishing until I retire in 2026. I have never kayak fished but figured I would give it a try after watching your videos. My kayak should be delivered next week. Thanks for the content keep it going.

When a person falls to the ground they are suppose to get up dust themselves off, look at what happen and why, and start form there to open more doors. To many now a days start whining about what happen and set there crying over split milk. They need to look for that open door.

Could not agree more. If you only endorse for the money, it’s not worth it and you’re not worth it to me. I understand the need to get paid and there are multiple great products out there, but it has to be a product you believe in if you’re endorsing it. Just because they don’t pay you anymore doesn’t make the product any less useful.

I doubt whether you'll ever see this comment, however... i've watched you off and on for years, same with the "googans" - they're a joke, they're entertainment, you're education. You help anglers improve, they help people not be bored while they take a crap. in any case, I always thought you were one of those fishing guys who liked the product because you got it free, or at a substantial discount. This video shows a different side, and I have to apologize for thinking that, and now I have to go back and watch 8 + years worth of videos. I'm glad you made this video.

Two general thoughts on sponsorships for RU-vid creators. The first is that you should never put your eggs in one basket, meaning don't put yourself in a position where you will be in financial jeopardy if that sponsor pulls the plug. Sponsors are sometimes aligned with creators but sometimes that alignment can go in different directions and they will decide that they need to either move on or just stop doing sponsorships. It happens all the time. The other point is that if you are in a product sponsorship it usually means you are not able to explore new products that come into the field. Having a longtime sponsorship end means that you can now explore new products without feeling guilty or being contractually bound. Chad does a great job of explaining that you are a business person and things happen in business that isn't personal. It might not make you happy but you should always, at least publicly, conduct yourself as a professional with grace and gratitude. It makes you that much more desirable for the next potential sponsor.
