found this video randomly. your first reaction to the wheels is so funny, few years ago i had the basic chicago wheels and then about 6 months in i switched to fomacs (all 8). honestly cant skate in anything else but the all 8 fomacs
The only time our rinks are this empty is on family night. It's total chaos.. children climbing on walls, laying down on the floor, going in every direction to some of the most terrible music. Looks like a smooth transition to Fomacs 😊
I got my children roller skating. I use to go all the time when I was a kid back in the 80s. I got Chicago skates for him because I remember one of you videos of you talking about your first skates you bought and saying they were pretty good for first time skates. He really likes them 🥳🥰 thank you for making these videos because I’m so lost. Skating has so many levels all the way around
thank you for watching!!! yea chicagos are cheap and comfortable enough for a first time skater and will last a decent amount of time. getting kids into it early is great, they will be good in no time!
So true bruh, I bought a set used them once and they been on the shelf since lol, waaaaay to slippery, back on my all americans. 1 love from JERSEY! !!!
I told you them things are slick! I was on the floor every 2 minutes with all 8 on. What I do is have 3 All American Plus wheels on each skate and 1 Fomac Premier on the inside back of each skate. The All American's are a little slicker than the Bones but will be grippy enough to allow you to do the big wheel, but slick enough to make other moves/spins easier. As you stated though it varies from person to person.
all 8, helllll nahhhhhh lol. i would never dream of trying fomacs on all 8. but 3 and one fomac or 2 and 2 fomacs is def a good move. when u do 1 fomac why do u put it inside back? im just wondering where i will put mine lol.
@@Sk8Fam ... I feel u on that. I put it on the back inside because it helps my spins better in the direction I spin. On my right leg, i do one-leg flat spins in the CW direction and on my left leg I do one-leg flat spins in the CCW direction. I apply pressure on the inside of my foot so the Fomac on the back gives me that extra spin without having to push off too much. I've even tried putting another Fomac on the back or stagger one in the front on the outside and it affected my ability to do floor routines cleanly so I stick with 1. And the All American's are 103A so they're a little harder than the Bones.
@@ericjordan6059 i feel you. thanks for the insight bro. when i put my fomacs back on i def need to pay attention to what spins i do so i put the wheels in the most optimal spot.
@@Sk8Fam Lol, I believe that. I will have all 57s. The Fo Mac's are the Freestyles - will that matter if the other wheels are urethane? Also Sure Grip wheels.
You're braver than I am! LOL Coming from Toledo, pretty much the whole city was built on a swamp so any bit of humidity means a slick floor. As the temperature rises, you can SEE the condensation on the rink. Went Saturday night with my oldest daughter...I wear 78A's...still couldn't get any grip. We were basically ice skating on wheels now that spring is here. YIKES!
@@Sk8Fam To make things worse...no AC, either, which only increases the condensation in the summer. The rink doesn't make enough to actually put in air conditioning, since they're really only open about 3 days a week. :( Fall and winter, it's not too bad...but for now, I think it's time to head outdoors. Hitting the skate parks once all my family's pads and helmets arrive. (Thank you Amazon! LOL)
@@MystiqueRisingSun for surrreeeee! outdoor wheels and smooth pavement is love lol. they should get some fans to put in there aimed at the floor hahaah
@@Sk8Fam One - giant - fan pulls air in from outside. That's all they've got, but they don't like to bust that thing out until mid-June. We're actually safer in the summer skating around outdoors since it's hard to slip on concrete. On the bright side, we're also planning on skating up to the local pool and back once they open for the season. 6 minutes to skate there, around 15 to walk. We can leave early, skate a bit, swim the day away, skate more (if it's not too hot out), then head home so I'm not overly upset about not hitting the rink. Plus, skating around the neighborhood is free so...also less cash spent! Especially with 4 of us skating regularly. LOL Our rink isn't too bad, price-wise, but when ALL of us skate (4 as often as we can, but there are times 9 of us go) at $4 to $6 per session, it still gets a bit pricey, especially factoring in drinks and snacks.
@@MystiqueRisingSun trueeee, and that sounds like fun. skate to the pool. swim. skate back. makes me wanna do it, i been trying to get my ppl to go swimming with me for a long time lol
@@Sk8Fam bruh who you telling?? I still get a little nervous when about to open house slide...sometimes ppl jump in ur way and if u have no control...all bad! Lol
Love your videos! Do you know where you got those toe protectors/what brand? I have VNLA Godfathers and I got some leather ones that I didn't like how they fit at all (stuck way out in some spots) and ended up taking them off. Yours look real snug from what I can see.
It been so long I don’t remember the brand or website where I got them lol. I just remember that they were called “toe caps”. I tried a few dif ones before I found these ones and these ones def fit the best
I was thinking about trying Fomacs (I'd be switching from Bones 103A). Are the All-Americans slightly grippier than the Fomacs? Would that be a good intermediate step prior to completely swapping over?
Yea i think the all Americans are grippier. But u don’t need an intermediate switch. Just jump into the fomacs. But don’t do all 8. Do 3 or 4 and get comfortable with that. Just make sure the other wheels i mix with are the same size or your feet will be a little sore lol
Milwaukee24 Sk8Fam So you would recommend mixing the All-Americans w/ the Fomacs? Like you have three FM and one AA per skate? That’s a lot of money on wheels 🥴
Milwaukee24 Sk8Fam I have the 57mm; I see the Fomacs are the same size. Is there a particular method to the madness around which wheel I should leave on? It looks like you have your originals on the front inside wheels. | Thank you so much for being responsive, this is very helpful. I love your videos and keep up the good work.
@@KingLyrical where im from we do a lot of big wheels and there are certain spins where I need one of my front wheels to be grippy. if y'all skate how we skate then its preferable to leave the grippy wheels on the front (or at least 1 and 1 )and fomacs on back. but its really a preference nd changing wheels only takes a few mins. I played around with them in each spot doing each move to see what worked for me. what works best for me is grip in front fomac in back.
Damn those were some nice spins man. I got a question for you though, I'm a beginner, just two months but was given some real nice skates with these fomacs...should I just try switching and learning on these? I wanna cruise and dance around eventually is it better to start on these anyway if i'm gonna fall a bunch already?
Are all 8 wheels fomacs or are they mixed? Lol. As a beginner i would never ride all 8 fomacs but where I’m from we don’t ride fomacs too often. If u from Cali or Detroit where they ride slippery wheels and that’s the style u want with lots of slides then u can just keep em on. But i prefer a mix of 3 or 4 fomacs and some grippier wheels on front. That’s just me tho. I’m not into doing a lot of the slides that some skate regions do
@@Sk8FamI’m currently riding 95a and I’m thinking about switching to macs but I have no idea what to expect I want something that doesn’t catch much during transitions and smaller wheels but I don’t want a slip and slide
@@Sk8Fam lol I’m ready to buy some this weekend but when dudes that are ill as you won’t rock em it makes me nervous about getting them. I wish I could borrow some first like you did to try them out first before investing and possibly wasting $100-150.
@@MansaNze i will rock em. just gotta get some smaller wheels so i can only use a few fomacs lol. def not rocking a full set. u plan to use all 8 fomacs or a mix?
@@Sk8Fam I don’t know too much about them at all bro. I’ve read some of your comments and I seen your setup suggestions. Since I have to buy 8 anyways I guess I’ll try all the different setups to see what works. Your channel has been VERY helpful though my g.
@@Sk8Fam Nice, bro. I had some black and white old skool puma classics turned into custom skates. I got the clay wheels because I've never skated on slide wheels before and dude at the shop said I should start with the wheels with the least amount of slip. So I got the clays which are 40% slip. The wood wheels are 60% slip and the fiber glass wheels are 100% slip. It will be a while for I'm ready for those fiber glass bad boys, lol
I go a question I’ve been skating since November I’ve been Using the red bones elite, you still been using these of should I mix them up I’ve been trying to do all the Jb moves and spins and etc not sure if I should rock with these or switch some of them out not too sure being new still
How do I get more distance with my slides...I have fiber glass wheels and even when I clean them and the wood floor hasn’t been freshly waxed I can’t get as much distance as the OGs I be seeing in some videos
yea it is. lots of people get blisters when skating in new skates or rentals. i personally use 2 pairs of socks when i skate so maybe thats why it doesnt happen to me. the more u use em the more comfortable they should get. u could also try 2 pairs of socks or 1 thicker pair and see if it helps. are you sure your skates are the correct size?
Milwaukee24 Sk8Fam yeah I believe I have the correct size. My toes aren’t the problem. It’s my inside arch on both feet. Seems like the leather if too firm right now. I got D when she sized me with so I believe the size is correct.
Yeah we good out here in the D I'm going BK home to Cali on the 17th. I remember in Detroit and all the good skaters had fomacs I was excited when I got my first Chicago Precisions at 12, I thought I was the $#it annnnd I knew how to skate backwards 🤣🤸🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️👍🏿
@@Thepassporttraveler lmao it be like that. u get some skates learn 1 or 2 tricks and feel on top of the world. i wanna skate in the d and cali one day. and vlog the trip and skate experience. hopefully in a few years i can make it happen
