After years of searching I finally found the Accord I've always wanted! In case you're wondering what's happening to the 2017, a good friend is buying it in a few weeks.
The rear view mirror and the lack of an LSD are the only weak points in this sleeper gentleman's hot rod 🤘 Edit: And the fact that there is no return spring on the emergency brake portion of the calipers.
2015 EX-L V6 Coupe owner here. Automatic. San Marino Red. Bought it on a lark at 45k miles after my college beater Corolla was totaled, and now it is one of momma's darling babies - the other being a Shadow 750. Now two years later, at just under 60k, it drives like a dream, never been "proud" to own a specific kind of car before I bought an Accord.
I've been sporadically following your previous build on & off over the years and somehow missed this for 10 months. Congrats on joining the club and enjoy it!
Congrats. Those are so nice. I had a 14 6M Sport for a few years, loved it. Bought it brand new. Had several accords preludes over the years. Still have a 94 prelude today. Excellent cars. These 9g 6-6 are special though.
I'm so happy for you man!!!!! Welcome to the club!! Only difference is mine is a touring which was only available in Canada, but I'm really happy for you!!!!
I have had my 15 9th gen 6/6 coupe. I’ve had 18 months and it’s absolutely fantastic! I wanted black on black, but this one owner 30,000 mile pearl white two tone black and cream interior came across my path. The PO was an older guy that had developed a disability and couldn’t clutch anymore. Now after driving “legally” for 45 years and having owned some 60 awesome cars this car is one of my all time favorites! Totally stock except for sway bars and stress bar across the strut towers! Good luck with your new beauty!
Fun fact, the white 6-6 was made for only the 2015 model year! So yours is somewhat rare. I almost ended up with one years ago lol. Thank you, I love it to bits!
@@accordinglyryan i test drove a white 2013 6-6 in canada before buying my black 2015 6-6. I have a quick 0-60 on my channel but also have evidence of a 2013 white 6-6 if you'd like to see!
getting the alignment perfect in these cars can be a pain glad I watched this cuz I now know everything I need to get mine squared away, thanks brother
That's what I WANT!!!! I'm an old school BMW guy (read: NA and no electric water pumps!) and this is what I'm looking for in a daily. It's perfect. My buddy had a V6 with nearly 200k miles, but the auto. He owned it for 10 year, maybe? It was the best car ever until it got rear-ended. RIP. This V6 manual, tho! So this video was a year ago... how is it now? (I've just stumbled upon your page, so I'll look up other stuff now, but I'm hoping it went well). At any rate, good video! Well done!
I boiught a '17 V6 Coupe ATX (EX-L) in Black because the 3 Still Night Pearls in my area had been accident repairs. Love the SNP color and the coupe. Congrats!
Thanks! Yeah this one's been in two minor accidents (one being that little dent in the chrome bar on the back, the other being a front sideswipe), but I took the front bumper off and didn't find anything seriously wrong so that's good lol
I have owned accords since my first 2000 accord coupe v6. I loved that accord and stuck with them ever since. I just bought a 2022 accord 2.0T, same blue as yours and i swear i love that car.
I love these cars, but I just had to have a 10th gen, so I looked for MONTHS until I found the 2020 Accord 2.0t 6 speed I found on Vroom with only 6k miles. I HAD to have the still night pearl, there was no other option for me. Congrats on your purchase!
Had my 8th gen Civic SI for 12 years and refused to get rid of it out of fear of not finding anything as fun or reliable to drive. Found a 9th gen Accord 6-6 a year and a half ago with 32k on it and have never looked back. I sleep 5.7 l hemis on the regular not to mention the respect from the senior car community. You know if you love these cars they will love you right back!!! Any chance you're located in New England?
OMGOSH I founded this car right at SDMV early this year and was gonna buy it BUT it financially it didn't work out. I'm super happy that you OP bought this quite frankly! Subscribed!!!
@@accordinglyryan I’m sorry. After back tracking my memory, research, and other paper trail, It wasn’t exactly your car that I thought I founded first. The one I founded with the same exact specs was the 2016’s had 45k miles 2 previous owners, and all stock that the nearest dealer ( call it SDMV) were selling it for $23,995 pre OTD. That was the one I was talking about and I found it back in Aug 2021. Sorry for the sudden delightful mixed up 😅
@@edgaryzen4925 Ah I see lol. I don't blame you, there aren't that many of them out there. I looked monthly on AutoTempest for 2 years to find this one
Yeah man it wasn't a dealbreaker at all lol. I'm actually kinda glad it has a brand new clutch in it because now I can just put a bunch of miles on it without having to worry about it at all. Same goes for the new tires and suspension parts. Hopefully I won't have to do much of anything to it for quite a while!
Wow! what else can I say, other than amazingly amazing 👌😍. The car looks amazing, bro 👍✅️✨️ I still need to a extra big thumbs 👍. And that is because you bought this car in auto. I couldn't do it, but I understand why you did. I've owned at least 5 of the 8th gen v6 6speed coupe. I've always believed that the 8 Gen were the best accord, but lately, I've been looking at these, and I'm really liking them. I went to bmw, mercedes, Acura, and for some reason I always come back to honda. Well, honda accord coupe v6 6 speed MT. I've always wanted the Mercedes-Benz c350 because of the horsepower, but it's not manual, so after just 4 months of owning it, I sold it, and now I'm looking for one of these accords. Wish me luck because I'm going to be needing it and especially to get one in the color I like, which is the gray. You have a beautiful car, brother. Enjoy 👌✨️
Researching these, going to look at a nice '15 next week priced at $14k which seems reasonable. The car just had a timing blet service, has 118k miles, is black with nav, newer goodyears, etc. Thanks for the video, I might check out your channel for more info if I get the car.
Congrats on the find man I’ve been on the hunt for one myself for some time now. I have a 16 9th gen v6 touring sedan, I had seen you had mentioned powertrain mods and being in California and man honestly we don’t gotta smog these cars for at least another couple years. I got a short ram intake, j pipe and muffler delete on a base 91 map from ktuner hoping to dyno tune it soon and hopefully also get a 6-6 or do a 6-6 swap on the sedan but yeah been watching your videos since dell0304 days haha long time but yeah man great vid!
While that's true, I don't wanna bolt a bunch of stuff on and then have to take it off for emissions every couple years. That's a pain in the ass lol. Thanks man, there will be more coming soon!
Amazing cars. I hope to one day own a 2013+ coupe 6-6 but for now I own a 2004 Acura TL 6 speed manual.. one of my favorite cars that I've ever driven and the most reliable
The ride height will be sorted out soon lol, heading back to the alignment shop Monday. I'd rip a lip/splitter right off with the shitty roads around here unfortunately. Chrome delete is on the long term list, just gotta find someone who will do it for not $900
Great car bro. I have a TL shawd with the 6speed I was on the market for one of these at the time couldn’t find one but I winded up getting the TL. If I seen one of these for a decent price I wouldn’t even hesitate on grabbing one! Great video hope to see more! New subscriber!
Awesome car bro. I have the exact same car in black with 46,000 miles. I live in the foothills around 2,500 ft. elevation and became a race car driver overnight. I drive to the city about 30 miles away and get in 3-4 races every time. I’m ready to sell it though and get a truck. I wish I could keep it. It’s a beautiful car man, it handles great too and I love the 6 speed stick. It is in immaculate condition, inside and outside. All I’ve done is smoke the windows all the way around. Here in California it’s illegal to smoke the windshield and front windows but they’re not as dark and so far the police have left me alone. Would you like one more for backup? You might make it you first ride with my low mileage- 46,000. I live 5 miles round trip to where I work and have not driven far yet. I’m in central California, hit me up if you’re interested.
I hope that your transmission holds up in yours. I had a 2006 Coupe V6 and the transmission went out at 90,000. I had it rebuilt at AAMCO for around $3800.00 but the car still had issues. I was very disappointed because I really loved that car. I have a 2016 Accord Sport now that has held up quite well.
Surely it was an automatic? That period was at the height of Honda transmission problems, which they've sorted out by now. The manuals don't have the same issues
Thanks! Honestly not really, I was pretty happy with where the other car was at. Can't really mod the powertrain and stay emissions legal in California so
Do you get noticeable vibrations from the axles after lowering the car? When I lowered mine I had to replace both axles so the vibration would go away.
I have the 2011 accord coupe v6 with 32k on it and I have the 2017 coupe also with 65k on it and I love the accord they have the best engine and reliability in any car ..the styling and fantastic very sporty....
All this car need aesthetically now is the HFP kit, I know you been resisting but the 6MT is a classic grail of a vehicle you’ll probably never sale, finishing it with the HFP would be proper investment . Cheers
I got a black 2016 automatic and I'm babying it. I accidentally hit the "S" and it made a cool sound and I was like HUH ? S ? So I put it back in drive "D" and put in back on Eco. With this car, I'm taking no chances of nothing !
You shifted into sport mode. It holds the revs higher and keeps it in lower gears than drive for more spirited driving (for the V6 anyway, the I4 CVT is completely simulated). You can't do any damage to the car by using it lol
@@accordinglyryan - Here's my thing, which very few people would understand. I LOVE my 2007 Nissan Maxima with it's Black Rhino Rims, Continentals, aftermarkets tail lights and theater Pioneer system, powered by Infinity and Alpine. I can NOT transfer any of that Sh+++ to the 2016 Accord Coupe and it stings. I even tried to stick in a USB stick full of media into the USB port and it said, "Not recognized or some b s". So it will take me time to adjust to this car. With my Nissan, if the World wasn't F'd UP = I could afford to get it's radiator/transmission fixed so I can have my 2nd ride - it's only got a little over 115k miles. Inserting 20 yr old hip hop CDs into the Honda's stereo was NOT fun at all (grunt) So I'm babying the vehicle with Eco mode and I did get a 3-4 year extended warranty on the engine. Tomorrow, I will take off Eco, but won't use Sport (dad will be in car) = Lots of stuff to think about, ya think ? LOL
@@cobrakainevereverdies6940 Lol I get it, but it's a Honda not a Nissan. So long as you keep the transmission serviced you shouldn't have any problems with it. I can't say the same for Nissan CVTs lol they're garbage
@@accordinglyryan - I agree. *EVERYBODY* says the Nissan is gorgeous but it's depressing. A nice looking car, with great potential but notorious for garbage transmissions (sigh) Lots and lots of getting used to. Am debating about giving nearly all MY GOOD STUFF to my sister for her 2012 ES350 (grunt)
With the new Civic Type R do you still like this better than that or the Acura? I'm helping a friend try to find one of these right now. For me, it's a little bigger than I like. I prefer the old small WRX hatchbacks. But I can see why she likes this coupe. It's a nice large comfortable car.
Did you find the combination of the j pipe with the borla axle back killed the borla sound? I’ve heard adding in the j pipe makes it obnoxiously loud and raspy since the borla’s designed to work with the stock 3rd cat and mid pipe. Do you have the stock mid pipe? Sounds good in the video.
Congrats, great purchase! I own a 2017 EX-L Coupe with Automatic. Too much traffic for a manual, but would love one otherwise. I heard you mention Cylinder De-activation on your 2017...is that on ALL 2017's? I was under the impression that my 2017 does NOT have cylinder deactivation...
Bought a 2013 Accord EX-L V6 sedan new... at 10 years and 126K miles it looks and runs great. Best car I have ever owned. I've always enjoyed driving MT cars, but I needed four doors, wanted the V6 and bought the AT. (It is a very good six speed AT and actually gets 33-34 mpg at 75 mph) Always wanted to drive a V6 6MT but never have. Enjoy... and get that timing belt done!!!
@@billyjoejimbob56 I'd recommend doing it more often. I did mine every 15-20K lol. I come across a lot of higher mileage Accords with poorly shifting transmissions. They like frequent fluid changes
I saw a blue 6 speed’14 accord v6 coupe at a Honda dealer in British Columbia this past summer for 22 grand Canadian,it was so clean and only had 46 thousand kms on it,not even 30 thousand miles. I wanted to maybe trade in my ‘14 Civic coupe but I didn’t make it there in time, she got sold,I was bummed because the thing was near mint. 😢
I've recently got a 2016 V6 touring coupe, it's auto so obviously I want a 6 speed ,but couldn't find one , love your vids and that blue is really nice, what intake would you suggest? Thanks bud
I had an AT for 4 years, nothing wrong with it lol. Honestly I would stick with the stock intake. It's not restrictive and anything else is gonna let more dirt in the engine, heat soak etc. Probably an unpopular opinion but that's how I feel about it
@@accordinglyryan god i love my auto , kinda wonky at times but always shifts like butter , my first automatic car and im very happy with it . i want another with a manual trans.....
I love the 9th gen but what socks is that you can't do the j37a4 swap on it because of the electronic power steering rack, I was lucky I have an 8th gen 6-6 and did j37 swap and love the power with full bolt on.
Eventual repairs on the hydraulic pump and rack vs. electric PS on the 9th gen cars? I'll take the electric PS every time. Swap isn't worth the cost IMHO.
I have a pearl white 2013 V6 EX-L Coupe and I love this car. I only wish...so bad...that it were the manual! The paddle shifters, even in sport mode when they'll actually hold the gear and bounce off redline...just isnt the same! Except 1st. It REALLY wants to get out of 1st ASAP even in manual mode. Its the only gear that it'll shift out of even in manual sport mode. And 1st is so low and snappy and I love it, but you've got to practically floor it to get it to stay in 1st and then you're at least chirping. I need to get a K Tuner and reflash that. Michelin Pilot Sports help. The perfect one would be a V6 6MT 2016 EX-L post-facelift, white or black, with a K Tuner and the wheels and suspension in this thumbnail. Ooo yea. Also, advice: dont delay (for too long) that gruesome 90k mile timing belt change! 😳 it hurts $$$ but if it breaks it'll hurt worse!
There is no way to change that behavior with Ktuner. I believe they did it to reduce stress on first gear so you don't blow your transmission. I never really cared because I don't beat the crap out of my car on a daily basis anyways. This video is old, I took care of everything needed by 100K months ago lol.
@@accordinglyryan Do you mind me asking what did you pay for it? I'm thinking of selling my 13' 6-6 with 10k miles and trying to gauge what these are going for nowadays. Thanks
Love it! This is a superb generation of Accord, although I don’t prefer the coupes. Mine is a maroon 2017 V6 sedan. I only wish the manual transmission could have been available without going to the coupe. I’m not impressed with the smoothness of the automatic… I’m sure yours can be driven more smoothly than mine! Gimme that transmission! 😁
Do a drain and fill on the transmission, maybe more than once if it hasn't been serviced. I used to have a 2017 V6 AT and I changed the ATF every 15-20K, shifted like butter.
@@geilcourtdf Yup, any older 4, 5 or 6 speed Honda transmission is the same story. They don't have serviceable filters and the fluid degrades quickly, so frequent changes are a must.
just wondering why you didnt like the 2015 less? its the same exact motor and transmission. Thats what i have (red with black interior and i think honda performance groubd efx from dealer) and it will smoke the tires in 1st and 2nd and sometimes 3rd....also, i was going to buy a red 2017 in atlanta ga and i think it was rode hard and put up wet....if the clutch is already having issues, that may have been what happened if its only got 80k miles. however, i think the trans and engine can handle that kinda of abuse....for how long? who knows. Im looking at a tune, cold air intake, maybe a j-pipe and cat delete.. but its just really fast from the factory, i enjoy the way it is. I hope you enjoy like I do mine - i love it.
Make sure you do a clutch delay valve delete it will make shift 100% better and clutch engagement more predictable. It will also save you money from premature wear on the clutch disc.
So I've had this conversation with several people and I honestly don't think I'm gonna mess with it. I did it on my old 2013 4cyl and it was underwhelming. I don't have any problems with how the 6-6 shifts or feels overall, and I'm not shifting quickly enough to notice the "slippage" some people describe is caused by the CDV. It's there to prevent drivetrain shock which makes sense to me, and a clutch is a lot cheaper than a transmission. It may very well have been why my clutch was toast but the trans shifts beautifully, but I dunno.
@@accordinglyryan the drivetrain shock honda was talking about was broken axles from hard launching and consistently dumping the clutch. Honda started putting the CDV’s in the s2k’s so novice drivers wouldn’t blow out the rear diff but on these j series accord cdv delete is very safe as long as you take care of your car and aren’t driving it like an asshole 24/7. 😭😭😭🙏🏿
@@retroguy1013 I drive pretty calm most of the time lol, I mean you saw the video. That's how I drive it. I might change my mind someday but for now I'm leaving it be
