Yo, I’ve been watching your videos for like ever and I am so glad you got your baby back!! My saxophone studies have slightly been put on hold since I’ve been going through some pretty wacked out medical issues so I’ve been watching your videos to FEED MY HUNGER of playing my sax :) thank you SO MUCH and please keep doing what your doing!
So happy you got your baby back. You inspire me to get back to practicing and growing even after 30 plus years of playing. Good luck to you and continued excellence!
Metal resonators definitely make a difference in the tone. I had my Tenor repadded about 5 years ago maybe. And had plastic resonators used instead. Definitely lost a bit of power and ring in the tone, but nothing that hindered it too much. Glad you got it back!!
I got my sax ( Selmer, Alto Super Action 80 ) overhauled after 30 years of playing it. It works amazing well, and the cost was about $ 900. It took about six weeks in total and I spent the time learning the harmonica of which i am pretty good on now.
So happy for you that you got it back and that it plays that well! My soprano is currently with my repairer due to accidentally knocking it over, so I am really hoping it comes back in good shape.
WOW! someone stepped up and helped you with the reapair! thats amazing. (25 year ago music major from FIU here.... the left an instrument on my trunk one day and drove home...)
Given that I’ve had that case since my freshman year, and I’m going to be a senior (in HS) this year, it confirms that I made a valuable purchase🙏🏼 *bows down*
I feel like a real idiot! I had a friend give me a mark 6 that was squashed by the door of a case... I thought it was a lost cause. Traded a repair guy for an old trumpet.. Huge mistake. What´s your repair dude’s name ? Looks like an incredible job, I was waiting for this video.. it’s so cool that a person blessed you like that, you’re a good kid you help so many people with their sax playing, including me. I am so happy someone did that for you, God bless them immensely.
Hey at Saxologic, I have been wondering whether to buy a microphone for my alto saxophone and have no clue on which on to buy, what type of microphone would you suggest thats within a 50-100 USD price range? Btw thank you for bringin us all these funny videos and lessons for us saxophonists to learn from. Thanks and keep playing the alto saxophone!!
You should get a bunch of manufacturers to send you their strongest sax case and then test them. You could drive over them and see if the sax would have survived.
So happy to see you back in action dude! I really dig your channel and your whole vibe! I bought your book and I’ve made two of my students buy it too. Thanks for the great content! Now, stop running your sax over. Haha!
It’s possible. I just know that it’s the open keys that tend to leak the most. When was the last time that your palm keys ever leaked? Or your low Eb? Compared to low B/Bb/C/D/G, etc
MrMaxiowy Interesting! Well, I was kind of regurgitating what I was told. Perhaps if I could get my hands on 2 sacrificial saxophones, I could do an experiment to see!
I'm really glad you got it back and better. I like listening to you.... I should transcribe some stuff you play tbh hahaha I'm so bad at jazz lines but hearing you I'm like "dude sweet stuff"
Whaaaaaaaat someone paid for it? That's incredible. My father recently got nostalgic and paid for an overhaul on my 1930s King tenor. I know the feeling. I'm happy for you, man.
