Those Chev & GMC square body models were produced from 1973 - 1991 except the half ton & three quarter ton plain cab pickups were finished in 1987, & the one ton plain cab pickups & medium duty series models were finished in 1989. Medium duty series models with school bus & armored truck bodies on the other hand weren't produced until 1985 because ones with the previous 1967 - 1972 nose design on the front were still in production up through 1984.
@@Elduuran when the next generation Chevy & GMC C/K series pickups which were the OBSs were introduced in 1988, both them & the square body models were in production at the same time which lasted up through 1991. Thaz why the series were changed to R/V series in 1987 to make a distinction between the square body models & upcoming next generation C/K series pickups "OBSs" for the 1988 model year. They wanted to help people avoid confusion with the 2 different body designs. At the time the OBSs only came in plain & new extended cab pickup models because crew cab pickup & SUV models with the square body design were still in production up through 1991. The one ton plain cab pickups were the only models that came in both of those body designs at the same time which was from 1988 - 1989.
@@Elduuran the base motors in those squares were a 250 inline six from 1973 - 1984, 4.3 litre V6 from 1985 - 1987, 292 inline six in 1988, & 350 V8 from 1989 - 1991.
@@Elduuran here's something very interesting about those square body models. Believe it or not, evolution on them started in 1968. In other words, thaz when development on them began. At the time, vehicle components underwent simulated testing on computers before the prototypes were built. They drew pictures & built clay models of different body designs of what they wanted their next generation trucks to look like but they looked nothing like the square bodies at the time. In 1969, a concept pickup was built & it looked similar to the redesigned 1972 Dodge fullsize pickup. At first, their plan was to start producing their next generation trucks in the 1972 model year but got pushed back to the 1973 model year instead because people didn't like the body design on the concept pickup so they went back to the drawing board to try to think of a different & better design. It wasn't until at the beginning of the 1970 model year when the clay models began to look more like the square bodies. Later during the summer season of 1972, a design was finally picked & production began.
Badass truck. Great wheel choice im a big fan and have been considering these. Only thing i would have done differently is staggered. I like my stock look but this is nice!!

I agree with you but with the steeets of Colorado it’s not the best ride so I feel like bags will be perfect. Ever since I bagged my other truck I think bags are top notch suspension 👌🏽 just need to figure out where I am taking it lol
