I've heard stories about these type of online scams - but I never got to experience one of these for myself. Essentially, I purchased a Les Paul on Reverb.com and the seller sent me a box full of garbage and two other items that I'll let you find out about in the video. They did this so they could upload a real tracking number so they could run away with the money. Luckily, Reverb says they have my back and I will be getting a refund. At the time of publishing this video - I haven't been refunded yet.

As a former FedEx employee, I can say that shipping any chemicals (hazardous its self or otherwise) of any sort without proper labels not only violates company policy, but also US, and almost every other countries shipping laws. You should defiantly notify FedEx if you haven't already.

I’m an unloader at UPS and if I’m handling a hazmat without knowing I’d be pissed, that’s dangerous for me. People really do ship explosives like fireworks and other cancerous chemicals, so that shit needs to be labeled appropriately that way it can be HANDLED properly and with caution.

If that really is ammonia, call the feds, it has to be shipped with a HAZMAT placard indicating the type of chemical, and it was shipped over state lines. I dislike scammers.

Sorry, I’m a truck driver yes it’s illegal but under a certain weight and classifications it can be classified as ormd, if not the minimal fines the feds would receive they wouldn’t even bother with investigation. My father works for fedex and you’re supposed to sign and confirm that there are no hazardous materials in the package. By failing to do so put package handlers and delivery drivers at risk, and fedex could pursue legal action against the seller. I would inform them, they might have his info on file from the shipping origin point

It's why i don't sell online. it's just too easy for someone to say i sent them a box of rocks. then it's he said she said. I've sold gear locally on Craigslist, and i prefer to buy locally on craigslist, but i have bought many things used online also via, ebay, reverb, Guitar Center, and even Music go round. so far so good. i think it helps that i'm not a Gibson, fender, marshall kinda guy. those big 'lifestyle' brands seem to attract the most scammers.

I fell into a scam when I bought a Super Reverb Amp on Reverb. The Amp arrived, definitely not in mint condition as listed..scratches, rips, broken corner, etc. The tubes had to be put back into it, as they had been packaged separately. Looking at them I noticed they looked strange. They were broken. Looking inside the amp, the tubes had been broken off up inside the sockets, then taken out and packaged. I called the guy who sold it to me. His story went back and forth on how he had never actually seen it but had bought it and taken the sellers word on it being mint. This went completely against what he had told me on reverb about him inspecting it and it's cherry. He has me send it back so I can get my money. I do get refunded. But, so does he for the cost of the amp. He told reverb that I packaged it wrong and it was completely destroyed when he got it. So, somehow it was all my fault now and I was told by reverb that I need to be more careful from now on. I told them to get their business straight and recognize a scammer instead of paying them out.

eagleeye128 Love how wrong you are.... Making around a dollar or so per thousand views is fairly normal can be less or more as it fluctuates through the year for a large number of reasons. But with the amount of views the video has 1k would be the upper limit this video has made and that’s over the course of time it’s been out not one lump sum. But the video may well have only made more around $500 by this point no way to know truly for sure as only his dashboard would be able to show that. But 3k for this amount of views? Well beyond doubt that.

Yup, just weigh the item you own and fill the same weight in a box so it's equal weight of the product or near enough and ship. More people are filming goods before opening them up due to what has to be the oldest scam in the book. Years back people used to purchase consoles and take the box back with stones in it used to work in a game store and some lad tried that on with me, got to say made me laugh especially when he ran off leaving the box behind free stones! :)

Yes, there is a problem with shipping ammonia. You can’t just do that without proper packaging & markings. Mostly, it’s super dangerous.

Do RC pretty sure a profit is made on those shirts. Probably no more than $6 cost to manufacture. The wholesale price on a blank black T like that is about $3.

I just watched a video of a guy who sells car audio equipment on Amazon. He was cussing and complaining about how many scammers are returning products or not returning the actual products sold. I would say that there are as many crooked sellers as there are crooked buyers. I’ve been burnt many times by fraudulent sellers. So, if I’m going to put serious money on any item, it’s local/regional purchases only. But, I enjoy your videos. Much braver than I with your money.

You must be a very calm person. You took getting scammed pretty well. It's tough to think that alot of people save up for a long time to be able to afford a nice guitar. And could get scammed. Dont get me wrong anyone getting ripped off is BS. But for some folks it could really set them back. Glad you made this video so people can think a little harder about making online purchases

This scam no longer surprises me given the society we live in. What surprised me however, is how you proceeded to handle/open said package without much if any gloves or protection. Congrats regarding your newborn and stay safe.
