I got "randomly" searched for the first time in my life coming back from Madrid flying Delta. I had to go to a separate, roped-off section near the gate, they made me empty my pockets, take off shoes, open my suitcase and backpack and then take everything out of my backpack. They patted me down while trying to make conversation and telling me her sister lives in NYC too (who cares ma'am? )🙄 They asked why I had dress shoes in my backpack SO I had to explain how Delta wanted to charge me $100 to check my bigger suitcase because it was 53 LBS , so I took my dress shoes out and it turns out they weigh exactly 3 LBS. ($100 for 3 POUNDS!!!!)🤡 They rifled through my suitcase and then I had to try to roll stuff back up and fit it back in (we had taken a couple hours packing everything up nice so everything fit 😡) while they started boarding nearby. Such a waste of time, both mine and theirs, plus everybody and their mom was all in my business until they started boarding. I did notice a letter 's' or something different compared to my partner's boarding pass, but I didn't think anything of it at first.
