I resigned on my 2nd day because the post office manager criticized the way I was driving on a busy main road. I wasn't even given my 2 weeks training. I passed my driving course, and I was sent out on my own on a route with no map. I was hired as an RCA, and promised my own route, and when I arrived at the location in a small town, they said I would only be working a weekend shift, not a full time job. I felt I was discriminated due to my age, and I noticed right after I resigned that another girl was hired younger than me, and given a nice route in the suburbs, not the main street that I was given having to deal with mail delivery with clustered mailboxes for apartments, schools, businesses and post office boxes, etc., and right after I resigned, she was given a full-time route as an RCA, working Monday-Saturday. I don't feel I got a fair hand-shake. By the way I have an very good driving history record all my life. Go figure. I didn't find it hard to drive, and was shouted at a mailbox. My brother in California, was fired on the 90th day, when he was dedicated, and a hard worker, and had an excellent driving record also. We both found better jobs.
So happy I found your videos. I'm starting carrier academy soon and I was starting to feel overwhelmed because I'm not active and you and I about the same size, well you're probably alot smaller now😁😁. This video helped thanks, great tips congratulations on getting pass 90 days.
Whaaaaaat congratz! I'm about 1.5 months into the 4 months probation. I've only been getting 20 hours so today I got scheduled in a different office for the first time. Everyone thinks their dogs are good and them shits come snarling and slapping anything they are behind.
Oh my god- I’ve had 3 dogs come at me now. It’s scary when they are big ones. The one that actually got me- the owner was like, no my dog didn’t do that she wouldn’t hurt anyone. I was like.... look at my ass woman. I’m bleeding LoL
You are very informative. My Shadow day is tmro and my academy dates are next week (8th-12th). I'll be following you very often now. Thanks for your help and suggestions!!
I love your videos!! I can’t believe anyone would say anything negative about you! I just started doing this job and know how hard you are working. Screw anyone who says anything about you! Thank you for your videos, it helped me when I was just getting started. I appreciate all the information, I was able to make sure this would be the right fit before I actually started working.
It’s a lot of pressure within the 90 days after that there’s some sort of relief. But still they don’t tell you much on how you’re doing the job. You just keep working
Thanks for the videos, you’re doing great! One question if you don’t mind. Iam in the hiring process and very hard worker . So I heard really bad stories! So what to expect being a cca?
I’m actually RCA but within the 90 days expect a lot of pressure a lot of work it’s a lot of work. Big bigs kudos to those that been doing it for years it is a lot of work physical and mental it’s a lot for a day. In the beginning you’ll forget about what day it is but i guess if someone else you can do it too. Good luck
Your videos are so helpful. I'm sooo nervous. My next step is the driving test. Wish me luck!🤞 May you continue to achieve your goals during this journey.
Mandi, you are drop dead gorgeous, seriously... You said hot mess right when my jaw dropped, you are silly girl a natural beauty even when sweaty! You rock, I am considering this work, and wonder what the honest pay is, sure it's in a video I haven't seen. Keep being amazing 👏.
I'm just starting my CCA and was wondering about using the bathroom during the route. Also, Someone mentioned it wouldn't be smart to actually stop and take a 20-30 minute lunch break during the first 90 days. Do you or anyone have any thoughts on this?
“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!” I get this and realize that this is how I’ve carried myself my whole life. I beat everyone. Not because I’m fast. But, efficient. Just did my shadow day. They thought I could be intimidated. Actually, the career accused me of being an undercover boss as, granted, I don’t really fit in to what most would expect a CCA to be. Taking the driving test tomorrow. Let’s hit it! Pretty eyes, btw.
Hear me out - I lost SO much weight the time I was there. After leaving, I had surgery and broke my other leg doing something dumb and gained it back. BUT I'm on a journey to get back to my goal weight. :)
No I'm not. I had a bad injury that required surgery and I just couldn't deal with it and the negative bosses in my station. Now I'm back in school and working a sit down job... Also, I stream video games on Twitch @ FranticPandaTTv
I know you resigned and everything, but could you please explain your game plan for learning a whole new route? Did you have to ask for maps or turn-by-turn directions? Did you end up using your GPS for the first address and just glance at Google Maps every so often after? How do you do it??? EDIT: Also, how do you make sure you don't bring back some mail???
For walking routes, just park at the first address and grab a big stack of mail and follow the addresses. You can rubber band a 2nd stack just in case and put into your bag. You just have to follow the mail and do your best ♡♡ There is supposed to be a sort of manifesto in the case that kind of walks through everything. I wish there were markers when you case that show where each split ends, but that would make too much sense lol
I know I’m commenting 2 years later but I would like to know how you got that opportunity in Bakersfield? I’m trying to move there and I want to apply for becoming a CCA. Any tips?
You are so cool and very motivating! You videos really gave me a lot of confidents to get started as a cca. I start next week was very very nervous but you helped along the way. Thank you
Another way to get free uniforms is to ask your union steward. Some CCAs simply don't have time to go to the union hall. He/she may have something or can pick things up from the union hall if necessary. Call the union hall and see if you can reserve some items, and let them know you don't have time to drive down there during business hours (they'll certainly believe that). Or the steward can point you to carriers who have extra stuff. I have Li-ion headlamps, shirts, shorts, bomber jackets and sweaters, and even a new pair of postal shoes that I found at Goodwill. They're a little too small for me. That pair of shoes would cost about $150 through allotment.
I was a letter carrier for 26 years and retired in 1992 when they offered a early retirement due to automation. I think I did the right thing because I went to work at Walmart and retired there after 26 years in 2019.
Don’t let the haters get to you. One thing I learned is they are JEALOUS. Also they still live in their moms basement! You are beautiful & love the videos!❤️
Thanks for all of these videos! I love your energy ❤️ I’m currently waiting for my background and drug test to come back for USPS..fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I just finished day 2 of CCA Academy. I've watched a couple of your videos this evening. Every little bit of additional info helps. I live in Mobile, AL but I'm assigned to Citronelle, AL about 35 miles north of where I live and I'll be on a mounted route. I actually grew up in northeastern Indiana (New Haven). You think summers are hot there... Haha! I've lived on the Gulf Coast for the last 22 years. You don't know hot! I'm just hoping at 49 years old I can keep up! Peace and love.
I just accepted a job as a CCA and things aren’t going too well... they keep telling me to stay home. I know I’m not as fast as the others but I want to be safe. I did my 30 days evaluation and got all satisfactory but I’m not sure if I’m going to make my 60 and 90 days probation. I’m trying my best to finish these routes but they are all 6 hrs long or more ... it’s insane. I hope I don’t get fired lol
No I was let go cause I wasn’t fast enough. These routes were 7 hrs long and you have to deliver every parcel package, it’s insane. I did it in NY for 14 years and the routes are 3 hrs long and the packages over 3 lbs were delivered by a separate parcel post driver. They doing it all wrong here and they don’t realize it. Union needs to step up seriously, these carriers are going to break down in no time. Good luck
@@luisayala325 Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I think I will give it a try and see what happens. It is something I’ve been thinking about and I don’t want to give up before even trying 🤷🏻♀️ Best wishes and many blessings to you 🙏🏼
It’s a very demanding job and a stressful one… if you get to pick an area where to work… pick and area you are familiar with … I got to choose two areas that I was unfamiliar with.. I picked the one closer to home and I didn’t knew and kept using my phone to navigate my way around… they say follow the mail but not everyone gets mail and the addresses jump… and the next home might not have an address number or you need to drive down a broken path… pass some trees … yeah there are hidden homes out there… You make your own judgement. There are some crazy looking places lol. I wish you luck… let me know how it goes. Take care out there.
@@luisayala325 I’m waiting for the next email from them. I sent my Driver License information already. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me! I truly appreciate it 🙏🏼 I’ll let you know how it goes ☺️ Have a great weekend.
You have nothing to explain to anyone. You look nice, you're a regular gal an it takes a lot of gut putting yourself out there. RU-vid has a bunch of haters hiding behind their keyboards talking shit.
I'm debating on becoming a mha myself but all they have available is casual mail handler which doesn't get the promotion to regular. How long were you a carrier before you were able to switch over to mha and is it better than cca? thanks.
I start Saturday but I have a Mandatory court date on Monday the attorney said I'm 2nd on the docket. I'm hoping the USPS don't fire me. I'm a GD worker
Wow can't believe people will say mean things... I just found your videos and I think they are not only informative but entertaining. Ignore the haters! I appreciate your videos, thank you!
Still go to the hospital first. Way to back it up mail boss Lady.. good call on the photos. Bun checks passed the hair bun. Thank god shes okay the, okay okay so your saying that your get the job rightly done. I have a little superstition my self. Good hair bun thanks for showing me work is smoothing out. Freight works trains works still alive, thanks train.
Congratulations and I am trying to remember all these tips! I start next week as a CCA. This sounds crazy and minute but the weight loss has me worried! I only weigh 115 lbs. Can you recommend anything to keep up with snacks to keep a high calorie count. Is it possible to have quick snacks besides breaks or lunch?
Any thing I can do or wear to prevent dog bites? Like a repellent or idk some Padding around my Legs 😂 idk just let me Know any tips on how to handle loose dogs..?
I have a question ... Im in the processing steps for CEP Casual, I understand its a seasonal job. But if there a possibility managers or postmasters will approve me to stay ?? (Full time) I guess when season is over I would love to continue to work with the postal service
Unfortunately most matter how good you perform..the contract you're hired under will not let them keep you..but you can reapply under another position and they usually hire you back
You just had me cracking me up. Don’t pay the people saying nasty rude things to you haters. Anyway I appreciate your videos I’m about to do my road test on the 20th an I love watching ya videos to get me prepared
So, if I have SPRs in a relay, I put them in my satchel after fingering through the DPS and flipping the first piece of mail for that address. Then, when I’m walking it, I’ll think, “Why is this backwards?” then I’ll remember to check my bag for the SPR. Even if the SPR address isn’t getting mail, flip the next one in line and as soon as you see it, you’ll remember to check your satchel.
Another good thing to do is to keep all your parcels and SPRs in a single line. I load my parcels into the truck, then I case up the SPRs and tray them, and collate everything when I'm loading up the truck. Flipping the DPS to mark SPRs is in one of the postal handbooks somewhere, but it's not something I do. After six years my memory has improved a lot.
Good Morning Mandi, I am so late to your videos but I watch them a lot. I wanted to know how many hours did you work in the beginning when you started? Here everyone keeps telling me that they are Going to start me off with two hours and see how well I do. I am a bit nervous but based on your videos I will persevere through. Thanks so much!!
Just passed my 90 days as a RCA. It’s been a struggle but I love my job it’s not as stressful as my previous job. It’s definitely different job but hey money’s good.
Whoever said you're FAT, is jealous because you're FAT with a fucking job‼️😂😂😂😂 I'm glad you made it through your 90 day's, I'm studying now to get in there with you 💃‼️ Thank you for this post ♥️
haha well I was chunky when I got the job. I have lost 50 pounds. BUT that is why I got this job. It was so hard for me to loose the weight sitting all day and trying to squeeze in 30-45 minutes of gym time. I am still working on it. I just hate that people say the most mean things online, you know. You got this! I hope your 90 days are almost over :)
I've got six years with the post office and I'm still waiting on my first performance review. Hopefully, I'll never get one. Reviews are bullshit anyway.
What ever happened with your hubby? I have heard that people will get fired for wrecking, but some that don't. I honestly think that it has to do with how good of a worker you are. One of my managers said that they can fire you for the dumbest stuff during your first 90 days. They will keep you if they like you a lot and you work hard. If they don't like you and don't want you to be around for the next 30 years they will see you out the door. There may be special rules and circumstances with wrecks that I am not aware of. I hope he is ok and if he likes the job, I hope he was able to keep it.
