Should at least stain the wood for those benches. They'll rot right through.

I'm not sure if it's really common but here where I live a lot of benches use a naturally rot resistant wood, native to our region

Hostile architecture. Rapidly spreading silent man-made aggressor. Often intended to hinder the homeless from sleepng in the street. And it is making the urban environment uncomfortable & needlessly unsafe to everyone. Your challenge looks so inspirational. Get the city back to the hands of humanity & walkability.

Well having homeless people sleeping outside stores can have a great impact on sale profit, because a lot of customers might feel uncomfortable with being confronted with intoxicated people and therefore choose to bring their money to a different store. I know it's hard to believe, but not all store owners have tons of cash. Some might have pawned everything they own in order to pursue a dream of opening for example a pet shop or a place that sells organic tea. If they start to loose customers, they might go bankrupt and end up as homeless on the street, making the problem even worse. Yes I feel for the homeless and it should be all of us responsibility to help making a better society for everyone, but turning public spaces into dirty shelters making everybody miserable is not going to help anyone. Hostile architecture can actually be good for the homeless in the long run, because it might force them to go to real shelters, where there is a bigger chance for them to get the help they need.

@@herneheimyou're making a big mistake Shelters are just a bandaid. The best solution to any issue is to prevent it in the first place. If we stop catering cities for cars the economy will be a lot better and we wouldn't be struggling with homeless as much Also you're only relocating homeless people elsewhere it's not actually reducing crime at all if not it only makes it worse and also screws over so many people and even causing death An elderly person needs to use the restroom but due to there being lack of bathrooms their vulnerable bladder ruptured which resulted in death Don't even get me started with how dangerous it is for children to be on the streets or any pedestrian for that matter

Hero....ur a legend lol Just watch the local council spend (waste) a smalll fortune to replace it with an even worse torturous architectural design...there's a special place in hell for the designers of the hellscape we live in today (good for a small few)and for the majority suffering suffering and yet more suffering...it's pretty sick and disgusting how easy u can fall down the drain (lose your money and home) and it's probably designed (rigged) that way for most of us...
@OptimalOwl
@OptimalOwl Месяц назад
> good for a small few You mean the > 99% of people who don't pursue a lifestyle as a homeless drug addict? The broad majority of people in the middle who want nice, safe, friendly areas to be in, even though they can't afford to segregate into walled communities? All the normal people with normal jobs and normal families, who don't want to have to deal with human detritus, California zombie infestations, poop and used needles during their commutes or leisure time? This isn't a fight of a detached rich elite against the majority. It's a fight of a tiny, self-selected sliver of the very least able, least responsible, least helpable people at the very bottom, vs the broad majority of normal, productive people who just want to live their lives and have nice things.
