Zak .. I am so delighted to have found your channel. I will soon be sharing my life with a cockapoo puppy & found your series with Kona whilst searching the breed. I became really invested in Kona's progress, what an incredibly bright little mamma she is, not so little now though! 🤣 What a beauty. I appreciate the way you deliver training instructions both to the training dog & to us the viewer's, your methods are fantastic & your sense of humour is wonderful. Thank you so much .. Am looking forward to following along with Moira's training next. Thanks also to Bree for her contributions xx
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home ru-vid.comUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
With no annoying music - just the natural sounds. I hope Zak and his wife do a few dog walking and dog playing videos. My dogs love to watch these videos so once a week I put them on a loop while I'm working. Inertia with her 🖤🤍 coat is exciting for dogs to watch.
Yes, a neighbor just gave up a similar dog, a golden doodle. They need a lot of exercise, and funny how many people just don't get how unwilling they are as a family unit to get outside and play. We have 2 smaller poodle mixes, 20ish lbs. I do so love big dogs, but realistically, we are in our 50s and even though I love to be outdoors every day, with my back issues getting worse with age, I can no longer give large dogs the kind of exercise they need. Our cockapoo and mini bernedoodle are just the right size for our family.
@@camouflagejumpsuit I'm bringing home a cockapoo pup at the beginning of March. Previously I've always shared my life with larger dogs (Irish Setters) & can relate to your mentioning age/back issues as contributory factors when choosing a new furry friend.
@@MsJMac72 oh how sweet, good luck with the new pup! Mine was a bit hyper for the first six months and as soon as I taught her "wait" she understood to slow down and try to communicate with me. She is super smart and is quite a handful. A total cuddly lapdog and bossy as heck. The tiny bernedoodle is bit much for me (now living alone with two dogs) because he has BDE big dog energy, combined with a vigilant nature and hyperactive little body and mind. Honestly now that I have one, I don't think it's fair to the mountain dog to be bred that small. He is like a giant redwood living in the body of a delicate flower. If your cockapoo needs a friend mine gets on well with bichons and yorkiepoos, breeds that are sized and temperent similar to cockapoos IMO. My cockapoo loves learning tricks and performing. My tiny bernie would be amazing on an agility track, but his wobbly joints do concern me. The other day he jumped clear over a park bench, landed on ice, and made a hard right never slowing down. My heart was in my mouth.
You are not the only one! Kona and Inertia are like wonder dogs under Zak's tuition. I'm having more trouble than that (obviously my training isn't as good as Zak's) and I love to see how Zak manages the problem areas.
@@zakgeorge so lovely seeing R+ approach to real world situations. I love being able to show other people being successful using evidence based training successfully.
haha yes! My husband and I need to go live at Zak's for 2 weeks in people training mode! He has so much knowledge to give. Happy you are here on RU-vid, Zak!
I absolutely loved watching the series with Kona, I'm even more excited for your new series with Moira!! My dog is reactive as well, we've been working on her reactivity since she was about 7 months old and she's now 19 months. A full year of training and she's come so far!! Can't wait to see how you it goes with Moira! Reactivity is so common and people need to know there are humane ways of getting your dog out of that mindset and actually correcting the behavior. Thank you for taking on such a challenge, Zak!
I litterally thought that Kona was another dog!when he said 18 weeks my jaw dropped! @Zack George if u see this u have helped our family so much to train our new 14 week old puppy! (She’s still not fully trained AT ALL) keep doing what your doing!
Inertia appears to appreciate that her cute little friend has caught up in size.. I'm currently raising my first big dog.almost.7mos.now someone asked if I was feeding her miracle grow.
OMG! Kona looks like she might already be bigger than Inertia! I was hoping we would get an update on how she is doing. Thanks for sharing! I'm sure Kona was as happy about seeing Zack and she was about the treats. I suspect her happiness over seeing Zack again was every bit as distracting as anything else in the park. I love the way she prances as she walks beside Zack. 🧡 I'm glad to see your next series will be with a more challenging dog. I suspect that most people who are searching for dog training on RU-vid have much more challenging cases than Kona, or even Inertia. In my opinion, Kona is exceptionally intelligent and eager to please.
Man Zak idk if you have children but you would be an excellent father! You have the patience of a saint lol can't wait to see your next series maybe that can be your teenage kid😂
she is such a fluffy dog!! we're getting a 4 year old lab mix from a caretaker / temporary home through a shelter here in Munich on Friday. so excited, your videos have helped so much! Can't wait to have a dog again!
@@zakgeorge hey Zak I love that you train without tools like prong collars and or electric collars. Every trainer I’ve met uses prong collars. They even convinced us to after I refused to. I did see a huge difference but I don’t want my dog to get used to that because it’s not something I like.
I had gotten a Golden Doodle. She bites and jumps way to much so I saw your videos started watching them! She can sit, lay down, shake, high five and do the dinosaur dance. Great progress! Thx these videos help so many new people in the dog world.
I have a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix and this is my first time owning a big dog and this series has helped me so much with making him a well-trained dog. I’m also super excited for the next series!
We have had our pit baby appa for 4 weeks now. Circumstances deemed we take him at 6 weeks old, too young but you’re videos were instrumental in establishing good communication. We’ve had dogs my whole life but Appa is by far is the most well behaved this young! The pull is in work 😅
Kona is so big, beautiful and smart!! I couldn't believe what my 12 week old Aussiedoodle, Levi, just did when I projected the video to my television to watch. He literally sat in front of the television and watched! I could see him trying to figure out why he was hearing the commands and the "Yes!" coming from it. Thank you so much, Zak. You continue to teach me so much. You are GREATLY appreciated.
My chocolate lab is a lot like Kona personality wise. Very smart, very aware of the environment (she's a field lab) and on the more cautious side. She does the whole bit of "boofing" at things that suddenly enter the environment. It's gotten better, but we do still work on it. One of the things I like best about your videos is the "real" situations where you see these behaviors that most people (myself included) would get nervous about. It helps to normalize them and allows us pet parents to understand better.
Can't wait for your new series as we have "one of those" Rosalina the German Shepherd and her brother Tony who is also one we've been struggling with. LOL!
It took months for our dog to catch her first frisbee. Eleven years later her front teeth are worn down torn frisbee catching and carrying. She loves her frisbees.
I absolutely love this video. It really shows that even though their puppy brains will get the best of them sometimes, consistency is still key! It makes me feel so much better about my training with my 1 year old aussie. Sometimes he's an angel but other times its like I don't even exist! Thank you Zak!
I think this was one of your most helpful videos for me! A younger, bigger, more distracted dog and how you react/improvise. It provides more info for my 9 month husky/shepherd mix and myself.
14:17 I am so happy to see you picked up Kona to show this is ok. Have had to pick our Boston Terrier up numerous times when a stranger’s off-leash dog approached us. We don’t know anything about the other dog so it’s always best to be careful. So funny too because Kona is not a small puppy anymore 🤣
This is a good reminder that it's just just "teach them one time and then never touch it again", you should continue to work with your dog even on the same basic skills through their whole life.
The chances are this dog is probably better behaved with her owner than shown here as Zak was inconsistent with his cues/commands & offered the dog no leadership at all.
Kona! She is beautiful!! I have loved watching her grow up ❤️. My own Australian Labradoodle is turning 2 this month and we do similar drills almost daily. Now if only I could reliably throw a frisbee I would work on it, but BALL is just as exciting.
3 years ago I used your videos to train my puppy and she's the best dog anyone who's ever met her says they've ever seen, she's amazing and I'm so grateful you gave me the tools to guide her into being an awesome loving and super trusting dog :) Thank you!
Zac thank you so much for setting me on the right path with my pup! She is 3.5 now and such a settled, polite well behaved and happy dog. I think the only thing of yours I didn’t do were time outs - I always redirected and prevented instead. We couldn’t be happier with her and the joy she brings to our lives. A lot of that is down to your and kikopups videos at the start. We continue to reinforce behaviour and add to training with new games etc!
