Great podcast, James came over as someone that cares, would love to hear more about that two stroke era, must have been amazing to work for KR on the proton.
Completely different, and the more you hear from James and riders if his day and beyond you realise HOW different it was, especially financially as well as the fun side.
Listened to the podcast. Never been his biggest fan but now my hat is off to him what a great guy. A real racer. Interesting history great guest. Respect to the guy and I hope to meet him one day.
Thanks, Elliott! Yeah, he said before that he’d been suffering with a heavy cold in the week prior- thankfully he felt absolutely fine but the remnants were still there 🤧
It felt like 30 mins when we were sat there but when I edited it I realised it was 1hr 20! James was waiting for me to interrupt and I was waiting for a cue to speak 😁 thanks so much for watching, Iain 🙌🏼
Brilliant interview. Always been a fan of James. Remember the commentator saying on one of the bsb races, I think it was when he was on the virgin R7 that loads of teams wanted James to race for them but they couldn't afford the repair costs😂
Cheers, Paul! Yeah he got a bad rap more than was really warranted but once the label is there it’s hard to shake off regardless of results. It definitely wasn’t through lack of trying 😁
That’s the key, Steve - the less you hear from me the better the guest. We had a good laugh about it afterwards actually, James was waiting for me to interrupt but I was waiting for a cue to come in… but there wasn’t one and I make a point of not interrupting my guests 🤣
Hello James, This is an epic interview on your complete career, thankyou for sharing....l did not realise the Shit & Team Politics that you had been through.... I was racing National 600's in the late 90's... just me & my Dad out the back of a Transit van, 2 sets of tyres only for the 3 days.... Happy memories. With reference to your Foggy Petronas stint, l had a few beers at one of the Goodwood Revival meetings with the legend Troy Corser, l had read about special engines for him & asked him the question....guess what, he said that all engines were the same specification for you & him....maybe he meant all 'his' engines were the same spec😅....James, you were a great talent that had a rough ride getting what you deserved...Best regards.👍
Always enjoy a quick chat with James or any of the Eurosport team. Always there for a bit of advice to the younger racers, too. Love the fact he mentions Ellsworth. Great MX track, but sadly, now closed.
Fantastic stuff Dave, probably your best one yet. What a star James is, what a positive outlook after all his ups and downs. No Christmas card for Bosworth I would guess.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼 all the time in the world for James and look forward to doing it again sometime - as for Boz, you’ll find out what he thinks in a couple of weeks time 😉
Another brilliant RU-vid/podcast, it's great to hear their stories and answers to your questions. Next time that you're up in Scotland Stuart Easton would be a great interview. Well done keep up the good work👍
Another great interview Dave. When you're sitting at home on a Sunday watching the racing you don't realise all the politics and BS going on.Did anyone else notice the chickens in the garden?😀🐔
Thanks, Trevor. Yeah, there’s so much of it about even today. Having worked for a BSB team for two years I’ve seen and heard things that beggar belief but that’s racing - always has been, always will be. As for the chickens, I could just see them out the corner of my eye 😂
Love these chats, this one was interesting. However the last couple I've watched the sound quality has driven me crazy. Please don't take offence its just constructive criticism, apart from that well done keep up the good work the interviews are great.
Morning Shrew! Sorry to hear about your sound experience, this is quite a rare comment. Apart from James’ cold which couldn’t be helped and the room with uber-echo with Jordan & Frank, I work hard to make the sound as good as I possibly can. What are the issues you’re having?
Morning, Yes I agree it’s not the norm tbh the guests, content etc are normally good. I love the behind the scenes content 👍 One of the vids I watched a few weeks ago the mic sounds weren’t balanced. I can’t remember who it was with but you were quiet and the guest volume was fine. No real drama tbh just thought I’d say to try and help to make what is already good even better. Best wishes for future episodes ✅
@@The_Bag__ I appreciate the feedback, thank you. I do try my best with every show audio but I’m definitely no sound engineer (or trained video editor for that matter 😁) but feedback is always appreciated. Now we’re selling ad space to help increase production value I’d love to sub the audio out properly but that’s way down the road yet - we need people to take us up on it first 😁
Another one out of the park James Haydon talk about getting crapped on from a great height how he is so positive about the way he was treated is a credit to the man , sometimes this sport just chews people up and spits them out .James has the perfect view on it he fully enjoyed the good times and and has ended up in a happy fulfilled place in life absolute top guy . Great questions as usual I must say I would love to see Danny Kent do really well this year and I have always felt that he got a bad rap in Moto 2 and was beating his teammate Miguel Olivera when they shared a box for Leopard in it first iteration in Moto2 and the same when he rode for the Speedup team . Brilliante watch what a worst moment cringe fest and stonking Hire car story cheers 👌👍
Cheers, CM! James was ever the gentleman as you saw. Glad you enjoy 😊 next week with Whit we talk a bit about Danny and say very similar things, high hopes for him and also he’ll be on the show early season, too. That worst moment is probably the best worst moment we’ve had 😁 as for the hire car… incredible effort 😂
Great chat. After listening/watching many hours of numerous views about the Petronas project, you realise what a piece of shit that whole project was. Little interest in winning, just making money for a select few. The greedy side of motorcycle racing. Love the wheel-nicking story.
Have you listened to the Nigel Bosworth chat? It’s fascinating as to how it all started and then our chat with Jack Valentine tells of the other end of the story. They were never in it to win 🙂
@@OffTrack_Podcast I have, Dave. It's indicative of how big money can ruin sport, and in some cases, peoples careers. It also reveals the level of integrity of many involved. I think the silence and shoulder-shrugging by some of those involved post-project is pretty revealing, and ultimately embarrassing for them. Keep up the excellent work.
Unfortunately I was introduced to him many years ago and his very first comment to me was around my hair loss, something that seemed to humour him, hope he's grown up but there again a leopard never changes its spots.
Quite damning if you’ve not been in his company since? He’s an absolute gentlemen; we all did things that weren’t great or well received when we were younger but we do mature in the end. Just as James has.
James was at a good level of racing at the time, he had some great results, so I was expecting him to have a more professional attitude, still a great podcast, sorry if my comment was offensive however, I was just being honest.
I love James, met him loads at BSB,signed hats and stuff for the kids but I just can’t listen to people sniffing snot back up their nose, sorry for being negative Dave, love everything you’ve done 🫣
Over 5000 people on audio and video think it’s ok so far, Phil. The sound is spot on, I make sure of that; James was getting over a heavy cold. Apologies if it spoilt it for you.
