Not married but I have aunties and aunties in law who are working and some of them are constantky travelling for work and they are able to do thanks to husbanda who love them and supported them to live their paasion to the fullest. Behind a great woman, there's a great man.

I'm sure a lot of men are disturbing her daily. Finding love is different. When you find LOVE, everything finally makes sense. You wouldn't have to choose anymore. Shaffy speaks for so many of us. I’m glad her experience showcases marriage, career and raising a family from a woman’s perspective. The long distance relationship aspect hits so hard as I often tell young people that it comes at a price but so many wouldn’t understand. True life experience for me. She was bold to know what she wanted out of life and went about it her way and it worked out. So many of us are not courageous enough to step out of that box of fear and embrace the future until resentment sets in. I love how she talked about her children’s Dad. No hard feelings at all. When people are cordial and civil, it doesn’t have to be messy. Wishing her all the best and Chude always drop one trick question to intrigue us the viewers. She handled it very well👍🏽

Somehow I can relate to Shaffy. It is easy to judge and I can probably imagine how some people can have their noses up in condemnation to her choices but I understand them. Besides, she still has a wonderful relationship with her children and that counts for something. She taught them to fly!

@@tasongmbunyaoswald3514 I don't think it was an easy decision to make and it seemed to me like it was an amicable separation. I am not pro divorce at all and I wish all married couples will stay together forever. Also, I wish there was a book that detailed all that would happen in marriage before you begin the journey but there isn't. Life happens, circumstances shange, decisions must be made and sometimes those aren't always ideal ones. All I am saying is I can relate to life taking a turn on you and you making choices you never thought you would. I must also say that I don't know the circumstances completely to make conclusive remarks. But boy! can relate to her circumstances. It hits very close to home.

@@sandrakon4949 i must confess that the only circumstance that can explain a divorce should be when the marriage isnt working might be your partner isnt still into it. Her reason was hunting her dreams , its a good thing going for your dreams, but couldnt she do that as a married woman they are many successful married women out there. They are many blacks doing well in Hollywood if she was so pushful and talented the way we celebrate her why didn't she find her way to Hollywood where she will still be with the family. When its wrong its wrong, when a decision is selfish lets say its selfish. Many people are concern about the children, thats not my focus children are just a part of a union between two persons and her husband's feelings is my focus here.there has never been anything as amicable seperation wen one partners action was purposefully for pursuit of career. I salute her husband alot because if i was in his shoes she will not have access to those children so long as they are dependent. You cant eat your cake and have it. Because the children was her point of focus which means her husband was never her priority. My question remains if we are not ready to compromise to the greatest extent for marriage why go in for it?

@@tasongmbunyaoswald3514 Remember that he gave her the permission to go chase her dreams. She wasn't disobedient, he bought her ticket to Nigeria and I commend him for that. She went back and forth for a while but the distance wasn't helping. He could also have moved to Nigeria if he wanted the marriage at all cost. There are plenty successful men in Nigeria but he did not. They both made choices. I suppose her husband refused because he also had a career to "hunt" in the US.

Look most men who are successful keep their marriages even when they are working abroad the try to ensure they have their marriages, have you ever asked yourself why most women cant do that because it isnt in their nature to have that kind of flexibility . Sometimes the women are expected to join them where they are because their job offer better on the table. You could be proposing the man to join her if only before their marriage she was already in such a situation and what she was doing was offering more than what the man's own career was offering. Not that you guys will be established somewhere and because of your so called dreams you leave the family and you expect the man to abandon what he is doing which is offering in economic terms more than what you are doing in Nigeria to come join you. The man was paying those tickets because he never wanted to be called someone who doesn't support the wife's success, she was mature enough to know that distance will be an exigent and be ready to sacrifice or present a holistic way of handling that.

I was just thinking about these your words last week! in 2005, while I was making your dress, you said something to me that REFUSED to leave my mind! And it came up again last week! You had said: "Follow your dreams and your talents, reach for the stars before you get married, because marriage and kids will change your life and goals"... I had thought you said those to me because I was not married and was too ambitious and winning awards and doing too many shows lol. Now, watching this interview, I see what you meant! (From your side), but your words Blessed me. It helped me dodge one or two bullets! Especially with one Austin that had these words for me: "After I marry you, you will have to stop this your fashion designing thing, I have enough money to take care of you". Me, I said, Fashion Career that I had sacrificed so much for, I should just pack it up for one Okoro man! WHY? Why couldn't he allow my star shine as God created me? And the 2nd bullet in the likeness of the one I had married that instead of celebrating me, chose physical violence to mask his envy and insecurities. I am so proud of you Sis! You have no idea! Yes, it is a FELONY for anyone to be so gifted and talented and throw it away! I don't agree with her narrative, she didn't have to choose between family and career, she choose to make that her only option. There were other options available that would have required tremendous sacrifices. But she chose this way. Do some of us understand what it means to grow up without a mother physically and figuratively? How it feel to hear that a mother's career is more important than a child, if the career was so important why did you have me? Being a husband, wife or parent is a responsibility, if you know you cant deal take a walk, don't take up responsibility, and fail to see it through. We have women who have been great examples of winning on the home and career front like Indra Nooyi (former CEO of Pepsi), Our very own NOI, Ibukun Awosika, Arunma Oteh, and the captivating Sola Shobowale. Na juju they use!!!! I know that our culture subjectifies women, but there is always a way to win, the hard part of it is finding the way

Wow! It just sounds like something about the marriage couldn't accommodate both their ambitions. I've seen someone in a similar situation who managed a successful career in Nigeria and kept her family. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala managed to balance a successful international career and marriage. I also know men who have cut back on international travel in their jobs to be around their children more. It's really about the couple's shared values.

I shake my head at all these comments and fear that some young woman out there could take this out of context. Sure she’s wonderful and everything else mentioned, but so is every dedicated mother out there who has chosen to stick around and sacrifice a lot of years and prayers in making sure they raise their kids. Bottom line kids are not just assets that can be acquired and discarded at will. What if her husband chose to do the same, abandon the kids and spread his wings also??? Having kids comes with a lot of responsibilities . Don’t have kids if you cannot commit to raising them period! There is just a lot of selfish, self centered, me, I, myself character in this and thats whats wrong with the world today.

I find it telling that you call her leaving her children with their responsible father ‘abandonment’, bet you wouldn’t say the same way if it was her ex-husband who left to further his career. Get with the program, women are choosing all sorts of lives for themselves these days and it’s not going to stop. It says more about you that you see women in this light, that women must parent in the way you’ve written or they’re negligent parents. Another way to look at it is that men should step up and actively parent their children as her ex-husband did and as women have done and continue to do till this day. Your comment and others such as yours are just reactions to the changing tide, buckle up, it’s only going to get ‘worse’ from here.

Y’all need to gain understanding. At no point in her interview did she insinuate your allegations. Leave women alone to make the choices they need to make for themselves. Our society teaches us to always stay home and give up on our dreams but powerful women like this also show us it doesn’t have to be that way.
