I Had To Push To Keep Up With Him - Mtb - Torridon

Part 2 from the Lolly Pop loop at Torridon. This was our return from Coullags over the beallach, down the Annat descent and finishing in Torridon.
What a day! Ruari was on form and flying down the final descent, asking big questions of me. Thankfully I eventually found some speed and managed to keep up. Always good to push your limits 👍

One of your best vids Andy & Ruaridh. That's a big day out and after that amount of time I'd be completely burst. Good effort and really happy you're both back safe and sound.

Another enjoyable vid - am heading to Scotland this weekend to enjoy some of the scenery but won't be going anywhere near as fast or as well as you two. Good stuff.

Mate. This is making me want to go back there. Great riding by you both. It's a long descent at the tail end of that route!

Such a wonderful, flowy route. My facvourite I think. It is a big day. The first time I did it the path around the loch was in the loch. I met a couple of guys on the route and followed them on the descent to Annat which helped me ride better. It's a great skills improver. The last time I did it I left the bike at the top of Coire Lair and had a quick run up to the summit of Sgorr Ruadh from where I looked at the path across the glen that ascends to the col south of Maol Chean Dearg and convinced myself it wasn't much more reascent on the way back than the climb that you did after the bothy.. I thought I felt pretty good at that point but the descent to Achnashellach knocked it out of me for a bit. I'm an ageing hardtail rider on an ageing hardtail. On the return, the climb on the track that forks left after the bothy is tough. It's a carry in places but the reward is that when you reach the col you get a view of An Ruadh Stac which is almost completely consisting of white quartz and is one the most stunning mountains in Scotland from this viewpoint. The descent after a tricky, steep and gravelly section is lovely flowy singletrack around Maol Chean Dearg and then that wonderful ride back to Annat. I'm very much enjoying your videos . They're weirdly exciting and relaxing at the same time. But I wish you'll go back and do this one in the sunshine. It's epic and worth repeating plenty of times.

Have they completed the hydro electric dam up from Coulags? Last time i was there (2017) it was under construction, the footpath was closed off with a big double track put in to provide access for machinery etc.

tell your mate get on protein more than carb.. carb will give energy but a source of fat added in to will help .. fat carbs an protein.. is how our body is made up of an on.. with our the combination we suffer cramps i tried the whole 100 grams carb every hour but still found i suffered .. i learnt to carb load 24 hours before a big ride an then go insane on protein an fats all day i with standed 6 hours enurance races 120 km on one race i have done an still lvoe to do as its my dream career xc racing. in the big legues.. to ride hard you must learn to change operation of thought on food.. you must eat days prior more or be willing to suffer fatigue sugar aka craptose is uselesss an can make your body crash an go into limp mode after 15 minutes.. so complex carbs is the way thought that might intrigue you
