Keyboard replacement for LENOVO ideapad s340 15 API

This laptop came with keyboard that does not have backlit.
So i bought keyboard with backlit.
In process of changing keyboard itself so I had to disassemble whole parts of laptop in order to access the keyboard part.

Just replaced mine. Thank you very much. The metal plate was probably the hardest step but I pried it off with some patience. You saved me $100 because I did it myself.

Yes! But in order to replace only backlit u need to use heat source (hair dryer or heat gun at low temp) to soften the adhesive and care for 3.5 volt ribbon cable.

Hey, do you think replacing my ideapad s145 14-iwl keyboard with a backlit one will work? It didn't come with a backlit keyboard but you can get those from ebay...

If you disassemble keyboard from motherboard by your self, you might be able to see if your mother board supports backlit functionality. It's hard to say on lenovo laptop's. It's always better to do Internet research about your laptop's parts.

The most difficult part is to remove the metal back plate behind the keyboard, and I don't currently have a heating gun to melt the plastic rivets they have plus it looks like they might have some on the keyboard itself. It looked so easy and now I cannot continue because I didn't watch other videos and realized that it is not a simple remove screws and ribbons. Watch more videos before attempting to replace the keyboard.

In order to remove those plastic locks heat hun won't be in use. This is the process of replacing new keyboard since lenovo laptop's keyboard doesn't come with screws to hold back plate in place. I hope it cleaned your confision.

@@cydentech9208 Back plate is welded with plastic rivets, and they must be either cut with a sharp blade or carefully melted so that the back plate can come off. At least this is with the S340 laptop. Everything else is great

good day sir I have the same model of Lenovo (s340 API) and the keyboard has no backlit. As of now the keyboard is no longer working. Can I replace my keyboard with backlit? Without any modification. Hey alvin cruz ! It's sad to hear that your laptop didn't came with backlit in it. You can replace your keyboard backlit version or non backlit version. Make sure to check your keyboard's part number and its fine. But i recommend for backlit version keyboard since you need keyboard backlit in the night times or so. Have a nice day! And stay safe.

I tried everything and search the internet which could resolve my keyboard problem. But after I watch your video, it made me think that I need to replace my keyboard. I buy keyboard replacement part from ebay. You can search by 81NC keyboards then make sure you choose the right one on the results. Good luck.

Dude I had the 14api version, and let me tell you, the camera broke in few months, the keyboard broke one month after that(I manage to get warranty for the keyboard), the battery swollen in 2.5 years (the warranty already over, I didn't manage to get replacement), few weeks ago I found that some key on the keyboard broke again due to rarely use (I manage to fix it my self without buying the replacement keyboard), and fow whole 3 years the fan spinning like sonic hedgehog. Don't buy IdeaPad, for 600$ you can buy thinkpad and we'll spec pc, all you need is do little search and install Linux mint.

If it is that laptop model, the difference is that it does not have backlighting as well as the video and it is in Spanish

You can replace with any layout on your laptop make sure you check your part number in lenovo product page by entering your serial number SN. You can find at back cover. I can not provide you any product link.

There was no issue for normal everyday use, just i wanted keyboard that had backlit so i would use in the dark environment.

This guy hide the part removing the plastic rivets and talked about it afterwards 😂🤦 witch you HAVE to melt losen the keyboard and metal plate, DON'T cut theese rivets otherwise you have to glue it back in place
