I'm actually as straight as a board. I just understand that love isn't all about sexual attraction. Yes, it plays a part but in no way does it define love.
you can be sexually attracted to men and emotionally attracted to women. sexuality is so vast and fluid and different. we need to teach these people and educate them more on this topic because it leads to self hatred and denial and anger. it's very unfortunate. sexuality is different from romantic orientation. and it's perfectly okay to be asexual.
"emotionally attracted" is dumb. It's like saying I'm emotionally attracted to my sister because I love her. Love is different but sexuality is sexuality.
The first guy is right--men have a desire to be "alpha" or dominant. The problem is our society which says that being a woman/being feminine means you cannot also be powerful, authoritative, or strong. I'm gay and I've believed for years that a lot of homophobic behavior stems from sexism! I lived in Spain for a while and their behavior towards the lgbt community is WAY more lax, like pretty much everybody I met was very accepting--men/women and old/young alike. I also found that the men there were a lot less aggressive/dominating and they were much more inclined to let women hold positions of power and make important decisions. Just some thoughts.
Omg that's crazy. I came up with that logic myself as well. It seems like Homophobia stems from disrespecting women, believing that a feminine personality makes you weak. Even in the ancient days not sure what culture it was but it was said if a man or even a woman was penetrated it meant you were vile and disgusting. People are so fucking twisted with their beliefs. Of course, gays had always been in the military anyhow! I'm an American, and at least things seems to be improving here, no thanks to the conservatives. Gay marriage in my lifetime? I never thought that would happen. I've been to Spain several times and I loved it: the people, the food, the scenery, the weather in summer.Most of my family is in Sweden & Norway, and going there is always such a relief. Women are on equal par with men in almost every way, and sexism is not tolerated. Scandinavian men are nothing like the fierce Vikings most Americans assume they are. Being gay is mostly a non-issue, gay bashings are rare. I've held hands & kissed guys in public and never had a problem, mostly people ignore you. Just the way they have no issue with nudity is light years beyond the US. I would love to live in Sweden or Norway, but I'm a sun lover, and the winters there are long and dark. Spain on the other hand....

I am christian, but what pains me is that people never chose to be born that way. I would not want to see my brother or sister being secluded and named all the terrible things because of their sexuality. I do not support mistreat among our brothers and sisters.
If a gay guy falls in love with a woman because he loves her for who she is, I think that is just an open minded individual. Although, the sex life thing could be an issue.

Dear people of RU-vid, I actually HATE the fact that people think Jesus hates gays or they will burn in hell. Jesus loves everyone and created them for a reason and purpose. I'm a lesbian so I have personal experience. I don't think think you can change who you are; gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, etc. no matter what you believe about yourself; if you are a gay man for example, you can want a different lifestyle and you can marry a woman, but I don't think you can really ever love her in the way she loves you and you will have "cravings" for what you really love; men.

If you're same-sex attracted but want a traditional marriage, don't let anybody talk you out of it. I think its absolute hypocrisy how people can be so accepting of straight men who are "gay for pay" but are disappointed in a gay men who wants a traditional family. Let this be a lesson to the LGBT community: just because somebody is same-sax attracted doesn't mean they want to pursue that lifestyle. Franco Zefferelli is a famous example.

Just like we saw with the married couple, he still needs to have sex with men otherwise he doesn't feel fulfilled, but she wants monogamy and a deeper connection that he as a gay man can't give her. So he got the "traditional" family, but at what cost? Now neither of them are happy. Now, if that person is bisexual, then that's totally different. Generally speaking, a bisexual person will not have to make the sacrifices that a gay or lesbian person would in pursuit of that "traditional" family.

I think your partner must be informed, agreeing and relationship should probably be open. Polyamory might be a good solution. But just being monogamous with someone who doesn't attract you is... well, okay, but a bit worrisome. Your partner will feel like they're unworthy for not being able to satisfy you whenever you express discomfort and you'll feel bad for making them feel that way because you're being yourself. It's difficult.

the Gay male mentality is, often confusing. I 've seen this behavior many times before. I find there is a lot , of depression in the Gay community. This self- hatred runs rampant, in the Gay community,and it often leads to,self sabotaging behavior. I was born gay and I am so glad I was!! I'd never want to be straight. I knew I was gay as a kid. If a fairy godmother came down and could wave a magic wond and make me straight I would run for the hills. If I wasn't gay I wouldn't have the humour I have or the friends I have. It's been a struggle but it's made me a stronger person today. Gay and proud!

When I was 14 I had something like a deadline. When I approached 21, I nearly had a nervous breakdown. Then a very sympathetic professor sat me down and in so many words told me to give up the quest of trying to be straight if it's not me. It's been a long road. I don't think my 14 year old self could have imagined who I turned out to be. But again life's a journey.

That's cool. At least these days we have more choices than we did in the past. In the past people were expected to be straight, get married and have kids. Now our horizons have broadened and there are many other possibilities and hopefully in the future people will respect others more. Obviously, we're still fighting discrimination. People deserve respect based on character, on how they treat others. People need to show more kindness and just be nice. As another example, most people are right handed but that doesn't mean left handedness is wrong. These days people don't usually get picked on or harassed because of what hand they prefer to use.
