A one-off video where I take a look at a revolting, disgusting enemy that made Breath Of Fire 2 even more unsettling than it needed to be. I tell you, this game was made with the specific purpose of causing me grief, I'm certain of it!
I also hate flies, but for a different reason: Their buzzing sound annoys me so much that I start itching all over, like I was coated in rashes and hives. Delightful! They're also probably the stupidest of arthropods. A bee would at least know to go through a open door.
I hate this thing too, but not specifically because it's a fly. I hate it because this fly can spit ZOMBIE BREATH. Think about this conceptually. A giant fly comes out of nowhere and spits some form of gaseous breath onto a party of adventurers. There is a chance that this breath could slither its way into a party member and infect them, and if left untreated, one of them can turn into a ZOMBIE. All because of a giant fly, someone can turn from living to undead. That is fucking terrifying.
Christian Dark Gets worse when you realise that the chorkling, being a oversized fly, would probably eat zombies with no objections. Think of the rotten breath like a way to make you an easier, more delicious prey to it.

I think the golden slimes are supposed to be King Sludge, just like ChorKing. In any case, maybe flies are the true sages of nature for they see life as it is: a neverending cycle where they show us that excrement and dead organisms are still very useful and capable of nourishing new life. And no, new life doesn't mean Beelzebub, zombies and the like. Let's just keep that stuff dead and decomposing.
Items which simulate attack spells will deal set damage to Chorkings (and other high defense enemies). Unlike actual spells, attack items somehow ignore the targets elemental afinities. So they are 1 hit kills always. Bow's Shot command can 1 hit kill any monster here if it's deathblow effect kicks in. Kat's transformed self has an ability called Keep (I think). This causes her attacks to ignore defense entirely. One of Spar's forms has a special called Bud Up (I think). This boosts his/her offence, AND stacks with the Atk up spell. With both of those, she can punch through Chorking's defense with ease. And the Death spell ALWAYS kills the giant green sludges.
You hate flies? I hate wasps. The little fuckers are barely good for anything. They remind me of Machtroids in Super Metroid, only more annoying - They're almost carbon copies of the superior being (Metroids/Bees), are far less useful, and for some reason scare the crap out of me. Also bees are awesome.
These chorklings remind me of the metal mimic from brave frontier, both being rare, both being an enemy only with one difference, (chorklings being huge and metal mimics being metal versions of the bat mimic) and both have low HP but GODLY defences, taking little damage and dishing quite a lot out. Only difference being metal mimics are a requirement for high level evolutions in the game. Chorklings... To me, look damn fucking cool!

I take it The Fly movie disturbs you as well then. Honestly can't say I blame you, especially that ending where the man faced fly almost got ate by a spider. *shivers*
The giant Gongheads were the enemy that always creeped me out. Looking like a combination of a mace and the surface of the moon. Craters within a head are just so cringe. Anyway, be glad you've never seen the giant fly on Ninja Blade. Jesus, you can never forget those eyes once you've seen them.
Some time ago, i read an article that said that if the amount of oxygen present in the atmosphere would be a little more higher, the size flies would be could be comparable to a car, between other things (dog-sized rats for example)... Nightmare Fuel for free git

The "K" stand for "King". They're also called "Goo King" in the next Breath of Fire. Also the "A" in "A. Sludge" stand for "Atomic" (they didn't have to shorten the name in the Japanese version). And that's why mostly everything here is huge. Oh, the Goo King by the way drop Armed Gloves and Sacred Shell. Armor Gloves are some of my favorite shields in the game. ^^ You can also get them in the last dungeon but that's a bit further. :P An easy way to beat Chorkling is to use weapon that cast spells when used as item. Spell from items bypass magic immmunity so they make short work of ennemies with low hps and high defense.
Seems Atomic is common terminology in Japan for "Giant." I mean, we have Mario's Big Boos (Called Atomic Teresa in Japanese versions), and I recall a giant slime in Zelda II named Atomic Bot.
Really? These are the easiest things to kill on the island, and the EXP they give is second only to the golden slimes/K. Sludges. Worst case scenario, you miss the Chop-Chop spell and you wanna save Ryu's dragon powers for K. Sludges, you can go to Guntz and buy either F. Spices, ShaveIces, or Frizbees for 100 gold a piece and any of those items will one-shot these things.
I found a weird way to deal with these. If you defeat the chef cat that attempts to cook your party and you've followed all instructions, then you'll get access to the special move CHOP CHOP and that's a one shot kill on chorkings
Yep, that work wonders. If you have chopchop on a character that isn't in the party atm, you can also fill your inventory with frizbees bought at guntz 100c each, and use one when the big bug shows up.
Honestly, I feel like Chorkings would be something I would have in a game as a summon, just waving my staff, a vortex opens, I shout "COME MY PET!" and a Chorking flies out of the vortex, destroying everything in its path
So, Git, Could you do a video on the Cannibal Restaurant Side-quest in this game? It's very interesting, and I'm sure the rest of the audience would love to hear about it.
Flies (almost) always attack me every morning whenever I wait outside to get in school. It annoys me, especially when they attack my face and ears. But Mosquitoes? I'm just going to keep myself miles away from them.
Chorkings aren't that bad if you have Katt with you and she's Shamanized. Use her "Charge" ability, and have everyone else defend (or attack, up to you.). One turn later, wha-bam!! One hit kill!! Since Katt is so fast, she'll easily be able to put down Chorkings.
It may distress you to know that insects used to be much larger. The more oxygen in the air, the larger insects get. While they didn't get as big as in the video, Dragonfly wings were measured in feet during the age of the dinosaurs. Good thing they aren't like that now eh?
whoisthisgit, can you do a Mega Man 3 how to get game over? When you run out of rush coil and rush jet pp, you are stuck in a big trench and have to restart the whole game in some bits of the remastered robot masters.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates flies but not spiders. Strange how people seem to fear the things they really shouldn't and vice verca. Most people find flies annoying but don't run screaming and yelling how "horrible" they are like spiders, even though flies carry all kinds of hideous diseases but most spiders are harmless and can't even inject their venom into you.

Radiation has caused some animals to grow much larger than average. So its quite possible that one day those guys will be all around. ;) :D I just hope it does not apply to spiders.
I guess that was a bit insensitive. I thought of the most grotesqte monster in undertale, thought of your profile picture, then was jumpscared by the Undertale soundtrack I had in the backround starting "Your Best Nightmare" and subconsciously typed Omega Flowey. I swear to god, the only thing that could make it worse, is if you did a Genocide run, then you fought it, Chara was there, cheering it on.
How odd. Maybe it's just because they are so easily to kill with Chopchop (or maybe it's because I'm a coprophile), but I tend to get excited whenever I encounter a chorking.
I just had a thought. Perhaps the 'K' in K. Sludge stands for Karat. **EDIT** I just checked the comment section. Looks like I'm not the only one who had that thought.
