Took the bottle out and about last week (3rd week without wash)...it started to smell like mildew, but after 2 days, the smell disappeared. Not sure why it smells and then stops smelling randomly like this...anyone have any thoughts? Links below - please consider using them. I’ve owned larq for like almost two years now, it’s great! Guys, the UVC cap will kill those smelly bacterias, it obviously won’t be removing sediments and nasty gunk so don’t go putting mud water in there and expecting that. If you want to try that out though, you can buy their filtration cap instead but that won’t remove the smell. Though I guess you can get both caps to double cleanse your water lol. Also, they have a water pitcher that has both functions, filtration and purification via UVC. It’s worth it, save money and live better imo.
I bought the water bottle about two weeks ago, so a few days before you posting. I too had smelly water bottle and was looking for a new one. Yes, $100 for a water bottle seems stupid but I still bought it. I didn't think twice about it and have no regrets so far. I use it every day for work. You also hit the nail on the cons, but I feel LARQ can resolve these issues. If they do USB-C and slightly bigger mouth hole (xD) on the next one, I will buy.
I used this bottle while traveling in Africa. The water there is often mechanically filtered but can still have bacteria. This was a fantastic investment for that! Haven’t used it since but I’ll definitely bring this on travels, even though the bottle is quite heavy.
they have an un-isolated version, i got that one cuz i don't like carrying heavy things and i don't know how it keeps my water cold. Wherever i drink from it, the water is always cold and i never add ice or anything like that. I assume maybe it's the material since the metal is made of (idk what material they used) tends to stay cold. Thanks for sharing your experience, im going to Ecuador on the last week of October so, im definitely taking mine with me :)
?? I have a 32oz Monoprice HydroFlask from 8 years ago. Use it daily for about 4 years. Clean it once a month? No mildew on the seal. Idk how ppl have this problem. I put alcohol in it sometimes and of course clean it after. But if you fill it 3+ a day id guess(bc of ice too) then how would it get funky?
I get very annoyed with companies that try to sell their products with misleading information. The bottle (500ml PureVis) holds 500ml, but if you fill it with exactly that volume, you won't be able to put the cap on. And if you read the manual you will see the text "Fill with clear water up to the indicator line". And that line is about 10mm above the Larq logo on the bottle. Yes, the line that lies far below the bottleneck. So the volume you can fill the bottle and get it working is around 370ml (which is 26% less than the stated 500ml). They never tell any buyer that, so most users are probably using this bottle incorrectly...
Does no smell equal no bacteria though? Especially if one drinks while having a meal, there's bound to be food transfer (even just wearing lipbalm does this). Also in my exp, there's a smidge of backwash when one drinks. I find the technology intriguing, but the idea of not washing a bottle for weeks on end skeeves me out hahahha
Oh yeah the website says you may want to wipe the lip from all that gunk that builds up (but even then, it says you can wait 3-4 weeks). I wanted to go as nasty as I could for this video...so I cleaned nothing. LOL. Moving forward, I feel comfortable washing the entire bottle with all my bottle surgery tools every other week, and I normally empty leftover water out every day in the morning. It kills specific types of bacteria...I'm just really confused about how its been able to keep smells at bay! I forgot to link this - it's their lab certified reports for all their different technology (their non water bottle UV seems significantly better than the one I have here) imp.i263265.net/4PykM9 Scroll down and look for "efficacy reports"
Yes, water is contaminated by drinking. I typically can't drink from a store-bought plastic water bottle if I leave it unfinished for 3-4 hours. It just smells awful to me by then. I own a LARQ bottle for over 2 years on the other hand now and have no problem drinking from it even if it sat half-empty for a couple of days. I just wish they made a 40oz tunbler.
I got mine a few days ago and i completely agree. I hated the taste of bottled water but I preferred that over the nasty taste/smell of reusable water bottles. This solved that problem and now I enjoy fresh water every time and i feel like it also helped me with my stomach problems, I can't explain how but my stomach use to hurt from drinking water from the tap. I work at the airport and I found those refillable water dispensers gross. However, now that i have this puryfing water bottle, i don't mind refilling my water bottle at the airport. I wish i had my name engraved on mine but i got mine from amazon bc im doing monthly payments lol 😂
i own the same one and same colour. its so convenient to not have to clean it every day to keep the pristine taste of water. i only use it at home though because i’m worried ill dent it if i drop it outside.
Didn't know I'd enjoy watching a water bottle video so much lol great vid! Would be interesting to see them develop different sized caps for water bottles that we already have. That would solve the lid size issue and I think more people would be more open to buying just a lid
@@Ahnestly True, and I would imagine there would be a size limitation for the cap to clean effectively, ie you wouldn't be able to thoroughly clean a 64oz bottle vs a 32oz one
That's cute you think we would be fazed about a $120 water bottle. Dude a bunch of us on here own $1,000 to $2,000 chairs. If anyone owns a $1,000 plus chair you are in no position to criticize a $120 water bottle. 😂
@@Ahnestly As you get older that shit really matters and you start to notice. LOL. Also as someone that has had 3 or 4 kidney stones, drink a shit ton of water and regularly have a beer, really cuts down on them.
Haha I washed ALL my bottles often, but you have to wait a longggg time for it to thoroughly dry (close to 12+ hours) so you don’t trap any excess water or build up mildew, causing smells. And then after all that, doesn’t matter much bc it smells again in like 2-3 days.
Ok, first of all....not sure a guy named Saul Goodman is the man to trust about what is and what isn't BS 😂(huge fan btw, love what you did for Walter White and sorry to hear it didn't work out with Kim. Not sure how you're on YT in the clinker, but not gonna pretend like I know what prison is like) This is why I wanted to test it for myself and ignore the marketing. I can say for sure that it has done a really good job at keeping smells at bay. They have lab results/certs here as well: imp.i263265.net/4PykM9 Scroll down and look for "efficacy reports"
Okay... that gross scene at 1:29 really affected me bad. Please don't do that again. Love your videos and I just hate to see stuff like that first thing.
I mean...the alternative is to buy a shady knockoff on Amazon... On second thought, according to cartoons, exposure to UV rays is how you get super powers. Lemme pick up that Amazon version...
@@Ahnestly or you know be a normal person and wash the bottle, literally only takes seconds to wash. If this has a filter on would be much more beneficial and appealing but a cheap UV light that a kid can make yeah no thanks for 100
@@8bits955 haha you must not have watched the video. I’ve got every little gadget to wash water bottles. 2-3 days before it smells like ass again or builds up black gunk, been through multiple water bottles. I mean, I probably won’t convince you, but my pee is clearer now and not that nasty Lipton green tea yellow bc I just find myself drinking more water
