Personally, after holloway beat Justin he just pushed himself to a whole new level of fighter. He could go for the 145 belt, or the 155 belt. He defined the BMF belts name at ufc 300 made himself one of the most legendary fighters to ever enter the octagon. That fight alone was on par with his entire featherweight reign imo.
He got that fight solely on his body of work at FW, and no. As impressive as this win is it’s not the same level as winning and defending an undisputed championship.

@@RemyKingKenhe avenged a loss he had at 155 to the guy that KO’d the very guy he lost to. Did it with all the odds stacked against him. The last time max was an underdog in a title fight where he was Champ, was Aldo 1. Every fight after Max was a favorite while champ.

Max has so many options but the best for his legacy is to try and get the belt from ilia, wait on volk to get his get back, wait on Conor to get his get back(if he wins), then he really has options! Timing is everything so he better try and get whatever fights he can asap while his stocks still high

I like chael sonnons take on what Max should do. Which is look for a money fight and try to defend the BMF belt once before he looks for a tital fight. I'm also a filthy casual, and I'm willing to admit I might be off base.
In regards to Chandler vs Conor I’m not so sure that Conor has that. Not that he isn’t skilled enough or he doesn’t have the right style; I know he says he’s been training but from broken legs to movies he’s looking part time fighterish. The two things that I could be wrong about are I believe chandler is championship level(along with a group of 55ers) and you can’t win at the championship level as a part time fighter
I think if you can denying takedowns by just blocking low you should be able to deny clinching blocking high it’s annoying that people can just keep trying till they get it with no set up
Also I swear I knew it wasn’t just me as well I’ll deny the takedown and still get taken down I’ll go for the pull back counter and it quite literally just won’t do it I’m so sick of this game bra 😂
Next for Max is to fight Topuria or stay at LW and try his shot at LW belt. And no,Pry, Volk got KOed clean, he doesn’t deserve immediate rematch, he should fight someone else from top 5. I hope UFC stops with immediate rematches after champs losing their belt by clean KO or sub. I agree that volk deserves his rematch but I think they need to give max a shot at the 145 belt next so volk has more time to recover. You can argue he came back to early for Ilia after getting KOd by Islam the way he did. Let max and ilia fight for the belt and then let volk return to fight ilia for either the number 1 contender or the belt depending if ilia beats max or not. IMO Alex wants to avenge his loss to ilia more than get the belt back.
Exactly, Im tired of this nonsense where champs getting immediate title shots after losing clean by KO or sub… it’s ok getting one after controversial decision or when the champ was dominating whole fight and got KOed at the end.

No way volk deserves a shot over max rn. Max hasn’t had a title shot since 2022 volk has had 4 championship fights in that time span, and volk got ko twice in the matter of 5 months u shouldn’t even want him to have a title shot rn he needs a LOT of rest and a build up fight

idk about what you said in terms of conor not taking much damage. he's been beat up pretty bad, tko'd, and just coming back from a leg break. i think chandler might be a bigger threat at this current time for conor than you might have considered. you add ring rust and the psychological damage an injury like that has and i think it makes for a tough challenge for him. IF he makes it passed chandler then he can briefly entertain the idea of fighting max before realizing theres no way hes making 155 now. and if hes fighting chandler at 55 you might want to add weight to the list of hurdles mcgregor has to overcome. fluctuating weight that drastically has ended many careers. hopefully it all works out and hes able to make it thru this fight healthy
