I Hate Windows 10 What Are My Options
Just some options you got for people who don't like Windows 10 and don't know what to do, I guess the rollback period is over for most people, but I wanted to cover it and show people there options.
I personally don't have a problem with Windows 10 and maybe the word hate in the title is a bit strong, but I know there is a lot of people who don't like it.

Dual boot win 7 and mint and you will get the best of both worlds! Both are rock solid systems with pretty much anything a person could possibly need or want.

I had this tiny little problem with my Windows 7 Home edition the other day. It ran to a snag when trying to install some update and rebooted. Then it ran into the same snag again and rebooted... You can guess the rest of the story. I'm lucky I had already installed Linux Mint on another HD.

I set up Windows 7 on KVM with GPU pass-throug but realized I don't really need it. From this school, doing what I love (programming), there's not enough time to play all my games. Hell, Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2 are more than enough, though, I have about 20 in my Steam library and 10-11 run natively. I don't need professional picture or video editing, KDEnlive and Krita are more than enough. I can't possibly think of a reason for using anything BUT GNU/Linux.

I absolutely hate Windows 10, Windows 10 has finally made me switch to Mac. I spent £999.99 on my laptop with windows 10 14tn months ago, I've heated ever god dam minute of it. so much so I when and get a min 2009 MacBook pro 8gb ram 1tbhd for £350.00 that runs better then my windows 10 laptop with a 5th gen i7, 16gb ram, and 1td had . every time windows 10 does an update, it deletes my printer driver, changes my default browser from chrome, to Microsoft Edge, removes my windows 7 photo viewer I like and all the tweaks I've done to the audio to make it sound better are all lost too. I will never use windows as my daily driver again, as soon as I have the money to upgrade to a newer mac that it Microsoft can f off for ever, this is coming from someone that has used windows all his life starting with windows 98 to today age 20 with windows 10 ps that feels good to get that off my chest

Skeleton 11223 no I did try windows 7 again for a bit but windows had made me so upset that was it, Mac run so so much better that any pic I've ever used, as I was my MacBook Pro mid2009 runs better than my 14 month old windows 10 laptop with was 3 times more money. I never played games, just graphic design, video editing and selling on eBay and watching tv and RU-vid

yay I'm not alone. you are so right about windows it really needs to be something amazing for me to never think about it, but as i have an iPhone, apple watch i don't think anything would make me change. my partner is an infrastructure architect in I T so I'm trying my best to get him to have a mac so he can separate from work and home, but for now I'm not winning lol thanks for your comment

Don't forget to mention Windows XP Jay. I think this was the best Windows ever. Windows 7 was only "updated" version of Windows XP. Btw, I use Linux Mint as well, its awsome.

***** XP was released in 2001 so you can't expect security as in new OS's. XP was the most used Windows ever and the most used OS in general. I doubt any OS would beat that.

I bought a new laptop with Windows 10 preinstalled on it a few months ago and it never tried to do any updates on me. I did two things when I got it. First I set my WiFi to a metered connection which is supposed to stop Windows 10 downloading updates constantly. Secondly I went into to the control panel, then opened system security, then administrative tools, and then clicked on services. From there I clicked on the windows update service and used the option to disable automatic updating.

To be honest I don't worry about it, I have had laptops for years which were set to never check for or to install updates and I never had any problems with them, however I am only a light user of the internet. I did read somewhere that even with WiFi set to metered Win 10 will install important security updates because they apparently come by a different delivery system than normal updates.

Patrick jonhson ok....just for reference; with Linux you can completely control what and when security updates are done. Not only that but its typicly its a very easy process. I had windows for years with Linux on the side. And as my Father's 'IT guy' , when I switched him from full time W 8.1 to Linux Mint it was like night and day. Yes I do have to do the odd tweaks but its so much easier and far less stress for me than ever compared to when he had windows.

I think there was the MBR (Master Boot Record) deletion virus/hack fiasco that happened with Classic Shell's download host (affected audacity as well). (the upload was changed to a more secure one, but the impact was widespread)

Britec09 same! I loved it, but after a few months everything went "buggy", to radically shorten my list of issues. Tried all the DISM and SFC /scannow commands, re installing, reinstalling and updating drivers etc but no avail. by the way, not asking you to solve my issues :P

OSX is by far the best OS out there. Next would be Windows 7 then Linux Mint. In fact Linux Mint 64bit XFCE is awesome.

dragonballjiujitsu I use Mac as my daily but will be switching to Linux full time next year. There are some very solid Linux OS including as you said Mint. As for 'fiddling' yes a small amount , and one does have to be prepared to learn technology to some basic level or get support. However I've experienced exactly the same on my Mac OSX with WiFi, mail app and others failing. Don't get me wrong OSX is a very good OS, and far more polished than windows, indeed if your in the artistic/ creative arena then by virtue of Adobe not supporting Linux, OSX is the best. But if your programming or similar and/or if you value not being locked on to proprietary software as I do then Linux is certainly better. As for windows.. oh well...whatever....

I switched to Linux back when I lost my disc and product key for Windows because I couldn't reinstall it because my hard drive was corrupt,that kept my older computer alive for a couple more years

I don't own a PC any longer. Microsoft own it but it's nice that they allow me to use it occasionally when it's not being used by them to update it. Switch on, can't use for an hour as it's updating. Go to switch off and have to wait another hour as, guess what? IT'S UPDATING!

What he said...8-) Windows 7 will need to be secured against the backported keylogger and telemetry (i.e. spying) filled updates Microsoft is now abusing its update process to push on people but a program called "never10" will help with some of that. I also suggest the MX-16 linux distro if mint does not suite.

Nonsense. Linux is easy. `Creating the USB stick is probably the most difficult of a Linux installation. Even that my mother could do. Using Linux is even easier. In fact these days Linux looks more like Windows then Windows itself.

Britec09 Except it's not hard to install Linux and even easier to install/use Linux Mint. First: You can dual-boot between Linux and Windows. It won't wipe your drive to install them. Second: You don't need to use "Something else." You can just keep it on the default option to Wipe the Drive Third: You don't need that much SWAP. Seriously, that's way too much SWAP. Fourth: The automatic method will set everything up to have the proper sized drives/swaps. Finally: You didn't include secure boot. Meaning anyone using your method actually won't boot on most computers built nowadays. In short, use the automatic method because it actually works and is a lot easier. You are the one over complicating things for people.

Now try this: Buy a new computer that doesn't have Windows installed on it. Impossible! No wonder Linux has only 2.1% or so market share. I tell you, when I would show Linux and Windows to people who have never used a computer before, they all would find Linux way easier to learn. I myself can't find anything anymore in Windows 10! I think 10 means 10 extra clicks to do the same as 2 clicks in Linux or good old XP. Windows is for nerds!

Once I upgraded the chip as I did when my motherboard was going faulty I couldn't use windows 7 any more so I am in fact stuck with horrible windows 10. I am just managing with a shell which looks a bit like windows 7 :(

Well, I've installed (professionally and at my home) Windows from version 1.1 up to 7. If there's one thing I ever learned from Windows, it's this: Don't hurry. Let people gather experiences and at the same time give Microsoft time to iron out the worst glitches from their OS. Rule of thumb, only install a new (magnificient?) version of Windows *only* after they have released their first Service Pack, never earlier. That is, if you gonna install it at all. Reading reviews may make you reconsider. I read the reviews in some computer magazines and decided Windows 10 will NOT contaminate my computer, ever. I simply won't allow any spyware or keyloggers on my computer and Windows 10 contains them *both*. I decided to go with Linux instead, and it's been a very nice experience to me. Have fun with your Windows, now. BTW, what's stopping Microsoft from installing keyloggers and spyware to your Windows 7 or 8, as 'security updates'? Assuming they haven't already done that.

My point is, I don't require a password, a user profile, a local account or any other for that matter. However I was told that to use Win X without a MS account you will be quite limited in regards to supported software, quick start won't function and security will be limited and other features that I currently have with Win 7 such as Media Player will be removed. Overall, what I would fear the most would be the updates that are forced upon you. I can definitely say MS does not have a good track record.

I fucking hate Windows 10. It's ugly, it's buggy, it's bloated, it's slow, it's unreliable, it's unpredictable, and it has the most cluttered UI I've ever had the misfortune to discover. After about ten continously failing installations in two weeks, 3 years after the very first one; I've finally accepted that Win10 will never get out of alpha stage, and also discovered the true source of why people flee to brighter OS'es nowadays. It's high time for mainstreams and iDiots to boycott Windows and proprietarism, to make way for superior, open gaming platforms (or at least, a computing future at all).

I swapped Windows 10 for Linux Mint ages ago and clicked encrypt disk option and when i wanted to revert back to Windows 10 as i couldnt get on with Linux it was a nightmare and i had to erase the drive before installing Windows 10 again. Im sure some will like Linux but personally im so used to Windows that i really couldnt get on with it. Good video as always

I took the free upgrade in January 2018. Some things I use every day absolutely refused to work and I didn't want to do a month of research finding out how to get them to work. I was Soooooo glad to find out I could revert to my previous version. At least the reversion worked.

Nice video Brian! Just a note for new users to Linux, before double clicking the Install Linux Mint, connect to the internet first. On other videos I've seen negatives regarding Kinguin, however within these comments are positives, some mixed results there, handy to know in case you need a key.

A Beginner just needs access to Linux, and learns nothing from complicating the install. If you had separated the root and home partitions to improve future upgradeability I would have understood.

A bit surprised that you never mentioned Classic Shell. I'm guessing that most people who don't like Windows 10 feel like that because of a different UI. Classic Shell makes everything look just like it used to on Windows 7. It's free too.

The best option if you have Windows 10 is to uninstall it and go back to Windows 7 or 8. And if you haven't got Windows 10 and are still on Windows 7 or 8, stick with that and DON'T upgrade. I have got Windows 7 on 1 laptop and Windows 8 on another and have never installed Windows 10 and I don't plan to. Even when support ends for Windows 7 and 8, I will carry on using it for the next 20 years. I will NEVER upgrade to Windows 10.

I've been using windows 10 for quite sometime now and can honestly say i feel that it's an upgrade from windows 7. First of all you don't even need a key to download the operating system onto a PC and the only limitations it has is that you can't customize the desktop background or change the window color. One thing that is annoying is some features like control panel are hard to get to if you don't know right click start and you get a whole plethora of other options. The telemetry thing is a bit concerning, iv tried to disable it with hit man I think that was the application, but tbh haven't noticed a slowdown

So I built my PC in 2011 and purchased an OEM version of Windows 7 Pro, so I have the license key. The year after Windows 10 was offered as a free upgrade I did upgrade. It seems to be OK to this point. My question now is what can I do with my old Windows 7 Pro OEM disc? Could I possibility install it on another PC? Or is that key dead?

I really enjoy using Windows 10 anniversary edition, this operating system has never bugged down programs on my ssd. I definitely think Windows 10 has a lot less glitches than those in vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. Yes, Microsoft pretty much forced some of us to update, but the transition was actually quite comfortable. Not sure why some people have the desire to use obsolete OS's, when the developers are dealing with the risk of tearing down its best creation. effectively jumping ship with several millions of users left with the decision to stay with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or to move to a new platform with the developers.

Paras Shah, You are right. What you said is the TRUTH, EVERYTHING else is a lie, stop it people you can't stop Microsoft from making the BEST OSes EVER. If you use 8,8.1 instead of Win10, wheres your nice start menu that win10 has? And NO don't talk to me about those silly start menu programs filled with other free software and viruses. If you say Classic Shell, That is not the Authantic Windows 10,7 start menu. If you don't prefer windows 10 for some weird reason, Use windows 7, don't use the shitty windows 8,8.1. We have a laptop that is connected to our TV via HDMI. We use it to watch videos on youtube, etc. Ever since I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 we've had this very annoying sound issue. For some reason the laptop speaker sound was conflicting with the HDMI sound causing the HDMI sound to not work. I disabled the speaker sound and that seems to have fixed the problem ... but actually it didn't, now Firefox "crashes" several mins into watching a video. It starts off fine with sound then the video freezes and the sound goes out. The only way to fix it is to close down Firefox and restart. If anyone knows what is going on and has the solution I'd appreciate it.

The options are: You have no options. Windows 7 will go EOL eventually, and Windows 8 is Windows 10 version 1. OS X is jumping from the frying pan to the fire, and I'm sure there's been a number of laughs had in the same sentence as mentioning Linux as a viable alternative for most users. You can still install stuff like Spybot AntiBeacon though. Seems to be the thing with Windows these days: It's crap until you get a 3rd party app to fix it. Kinda stupid that Microsoft actually started to put security in their OS with Vista/7, basically by copying Sudo, and now they've undone everything by installing keyloggers, and then backporting the spyware to Win7 via the Windows Update service.

I hate windows 10 because of the automatic restarts when it installs updates even when u turn auto restart off it still auto restarts with no warning what so ever It wouldnt be so bad if it gave u an option to postpone the restart but it doesnt its really annoying

I love W10, VR, AR and MR are great on W10 along with gaming and video editing. Why would you roll back to W7 or W8? They are both in W10 because it has the features from both except it has a lot more features like built in video editing, phone notifications and extensions and many other things. People who use Linux could get by with a cheap Chromebook.

I have used Kinguin for keys several times, all ok so far, Linux Peppermint 7 is also a good Mint spin and just seems to work.

Thanks Brian :-D At last you finally admit that you hate windows 10, Well done lad LOL ha ha :-D :-D. Sorry, just being silly (as norm). ive invoked the recovery partition a few times to put a machine back to factory, usually when windows is just a wreck and problems cant be solved. When done, i uninstall the old antivirus from millions of years ago and plop avg on, then windows updates. Ditch some of the useless crapware and disable some pointless startups, makes a hell of a difference to start up speed, then empty bin and defrag. Fresh and speedy again :-D Win 7 is the final good o.s, microsoft has fell off the rails.

Linux Mint is pretty decent as another option as well as the other Linux distros like Peppermint, Ubuntu Mate and Linux Lite just to name a few from Linux. I'm typing this from Linux Mint 18 right now. Cheers, guys :)

danielgartin6993 Noice. Note: Ubuntu 16.10 has a short life cycle about 9 months. You can always use the LTS 16.04 release or the 14.04 LTS release of Ubuntu (if you're interested).

I love Windows 10 Pro, especially using Classic Shell, it makes windows 10 look just like Windows 7. BTW, I use Macrium Reflect to make an image copy up in the cloud. Best and safest way to get back to normal after a disaster or ransomeware, imo. Thanks again for another outstanding Video Brian. You are the man!

I hate windows 10. I hate that Microsoft forces their products on you! I take my hard earned money and go out and buy a brand new computer -- and then Microsoft takes possession of it and has absolute power over the contents on my new computer!! What right do they have to seize my computer and force downloads onto it? How are they able to do that??? They take control over your computer through the internet (they use the Internet to place MS Updates onto your pc). And, by them taking over your computer through the internet, they cause your PC to have hardware problems. They updated my system without my permission and one of their updates DISABLED my computers ability to "Restore to an Earlier Time" feature. IF and WHEN my computer crashes -- I have no way to restore it. After they disabled that really important feature -- there's no way that you can get it back. And, that's the new Windows 10 for you and the add on Windows Creators Update! Microsoft basically broke my brand new computer that I had to save up my own money to buy. Why there's no class action lawsuit against them I don't know? It's not right that they can take over your computer and force updates and system changes to YOUR computer !! Your PC is your property -- not theirs!! When they screw up your PC with their unwanted changes -- DO THEY PAY for your PC to be fixed -- DO THEY REPLACE your system? No, they don't !!! The jerks!

I use my startisback licence and mostly ignore the nonsense, at least with 10 you don't get full screen applications for no real reason. Though the controlpanel/settings duplication is a bit odd. You can get window 7 iso off Microsoft if you have a valid key www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7 Though with the update failure of windows 7 I would avoid this.

Prebuilt pcs have so much garbage on them... but the win10 hate is kinda meh. I got a old pc that i was whos hard drive had died. i stuck a another one in and put windows 10 on it. such quick boots from such old hardware...(its not that old. its like a 2010 prebuilt)
