I'm rapidly intrigued with your content. I must tell you, though, your Thessalonians plaque reads a little wrong to people who don't understand how bible passages work. It needs a bigger gap, here's what I mean. 4: 11-12. instead of 4:11-12. It now doesn't look like three minutes ro 4:15!

I've not seen those sanding discs and I have a lifetime supply of the standard type, so I'll probably never even get to try them out! Thanks for adding the business calculations into the video. Most people don't think about the expenses that go into small business production. The profit margin is always tight for small businesses, while not so much for big business, which have volume purchasing power and often times in-house or sister company material suppliers.

Nice coverage Joshua, the best improvement for sanding discs is a block sander cleaner , I’ve got an original black rubber one I’ve had for at least ten years & a few Amazon natural rubber ones , not as good but it’s a game changer for cleaning sanding discs.. prolonging them for much longer by de clogging them in seconds.
@joshuadelisle
@joshuadelisle Год назад
I'll check those out. However I didn't show it but a quick spray with the airline soon sorts out these new discs from clogs. I guess the air gets up underneath because of the trammels. Cheers J
@wakayama1991
@wakayama1991 Год назад
second that for the cleaner. Will make your discs last many times longer when using on wood to get the resin and gunk off. Not so sure about metal though. 3m cubitron II discs are the mutts though - have ditched all the old type discs and only use those now - take ages to clog, clean in seconds

Interesting! Yes, electric planer trumps sanding, but beware of nails & steel fixings. Small metal detectors used by metal detector users are super useful for finding small bits of steel & saving planer from damage. Generally I don’t like wood signs for external projects. They deteriorate too quickly. There is also competition from pound land & such who sell popular signs for a £1. There is often a market for seasonal stuff at the several holiday times per year. Steel or stainless or aluminum or brass signs last much longer, but are heavier & cost more & can’t be marketed as recycled. Maybe personalized dovetail or box joint boxes that you can laser cut would be better, possible flat pack for buyer to assemble and/or sliding lids to avoid cost & trouble of hinges. Looking forward to updated “air con” mask. Thank you for sharing!

I found a fool proof way to do sanding that makes the job 100% more easy. All you have to do is get someone else to do it for you! If you have kids or know of a friend who has some teens looking for work you could get them to do the bulk of it and just do the finishing yourself. Jokes aside bring on a CNC sander machine where you scan an object and just ask for say 0.01mm taken off and it just does it.

Really nice looking sanding pads. Like the simplicity in solution preventing glogging. Would've been nice to see "pigtail" test, but I'd suppose that has to leave much less those swirl marks on ie. painted surfaces. By far the biggest annoynce imo when using orbital sanders. Good video - would it be more efficient to laser engrave multiples at the same time? - might reduce the overhead in the setup phase. I like there is scope to increase efficiency if demand increases - like using a fence sprayer for doing the treatment. Maybe wooden plant labels? They seem to be very expensive so might be scope there. Or pet memorials - sounds morbid but people bury pets in the garden - hammie the hamster needs to be remembered and of course weddings - truly the font of the endless spending.

@@joshuadelisle I have both, the Makita 9401 (I wouldn't be without it, you can turn it upside down, put permanent run button on and use it as a linisher sander with two hands free). As for a planer, they're all similar and normally 89mm wide or 100mm and all have two blades in a revolving block. However Triton tools do a wide model it's triple bladed, 180mm wide (so good for 6inch planks in a single pass, trust me a double pass with a narrower planer is a pain). @@ronpalmer1371 oh Thank you! Sorry I thought you meant the sanding pads. I haven't listed the plaques yet as I wanted some photos of them on gates and walls for the shop but the weather has turned and is miserably wet so I haven't made them public just yet. If you favourite my Etsy shop you'll be notified as soon as I've made them available. Cheers J

@@ronpalmer1371 awesome Thank you. Etsy is an online platform for hand crafted and artisan products. A bit like Amazon for small businesses. There's a link to my shop in the description. Otherwise I'll notify you here with a link once I've made them available. Alternatively my details are in my bio if you wish to email. All the very best. Cheers J

Why don't you send them through a planer first? 90+% of the sanding would be done, and all boards would be consistently the same thickness and be actually flat.

Very good idea. I'll invest in one. Cheers J
