Our mini boy was the same, he was like a vacuum cleaner 🤦‍♀️ we bought him a bowl like this and it helped a great deal. We love Theo ❤️❤️❤️❤️ he is so adorable 🥰

Our long hair, Grace is exactly the opposite. She leisurely munches each piece of kibble one at a time and then pauses as if she's thinking about it before taking the next bite! 😂

We have a mini Dachshund puppy. This is our 3. Dachshund. All our Dachshund eat very fast. Our hunting dogs eats slowly. I think it is normal when your Dachshund eat fast.

This is perfectly normal for my Minnie. She gets wet food and has it gone in no time. But she has good bowel movements. Have you ever seen Loulou from the Netherlands? Theo is still eating slowly 😄. Many greetings ❤️❤️❤️

Most of my Dachshunds I’ve had the pleasure of parenting them during the 35 year. Since my 1st baby, I noted that they eat like Hoovers! 🤪😋🤣. My current 2 are so different, and it makes feeding time a disaster. 100% supervision is needed, as Lulu takes forever to eat, that is if she decides to eat at all! 🤦🏼‍♀️😬. She is the first one that does this. So we closely observe when they eat, so that Layla does not grab Lulu’s food. They bioth have slow- feeder bowls. Of course to slow Layla down, and the fun part does encourage Lulu to eat better! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍 I love them to the moon and back. After God my Saviour, and my parents,they are my life and reason for living. God bless all furbabies, but I pray espesially for all the Dachshunds and there parents out there. 🙏🏻🥰🐾🥰🐾🥰. May these little lost babies soos find loving parents and a nice cozy bed. Thank you for everyone that has rescued, or adopted these precious babies, or is planning to soon. 😢😇 The other breeds of doggies need loving homes too, so please don’t buy from Petshops. Adopt from Rescue Organisasions and the pups I have resued 4:01 have somehow turned into the best puppies ever. 👍🏻💞

Omg you have me in tears😂 . That's hysterical. I had a family of 5 Dacxies. I swear if I turned sideways i could see them all pull out straws and finished in under a minute. My mini pins nickname is hoover, she inhales hers, there's no competition betweene them. She's the champ hands down everytime. If I fed her as much as she asks to be fed, I told her she's gonna have the shape of a raisinette sized head and a watermelon body.😅

I love Doxies. We have had one my entire life. They are wonderful little fellows. There is no subscription button. I will turn on notifications to see your sweet boy. I look forward to getting to know him.

I’m wondering if the obstacle course type food bowls are designed more for the pet owner than the pet. Dogs wolf their food down, that’s what they do.

You can also put a rock good size rock so they can't eat it in the bowl and that works too. I had a slow down bowl as well. They do pig out.

I bought 2 dishes in different sizes. One dog is doing pretty good and one is still much faster than I expected. No dishwasher so I have to wash by hand. the small dish is difficult to get into. Good luck with Theo. Ah.. the things we do for love.

I work at a dog shelter and most of the dogs eat just as fast. I have 4 dogs at home and one uses the slow feeder dish and eats in about 2 minutes. Most dogs eat fast!!

Hey are you sure its a problem if he eats quickly?

He's food aggressive because he thinks there's no more. Manual feedings at set times train him to gulp it down...no matter the bowl. Try a gravity drop feeder and let him feed as he wishes. Once he learns that the food isn't going anywhere he'll start to slow down and eat intermittently instead. Doxies are notorious little beggars and will wait all day for something only to eat, usually late at night when they know they aren't getting anything. Table scraps are a big no-no as well. Monitor his behavior a bit as the first week he'll gorge himself but it should level off. Doxies are easy to overfeed so watch his weight. I've had mini's for many, many years and they've all been set up on self feeding....it works great and it's less work for you as well (currently have a long hair, isabella, dapple male). Just keep GOOD food they enjoy in the feeder...no cheap filler junk. Good luck.

Not much gained. It’s the way a dachshund eats. Wet food would be preferable for the fast devouring of dachshunds.
