Reflecting on a life-well lived filled with highs and lows and too many close calls to count. In Greg McQuade's latest "I Have a Story" he introduces us to the WWII veteran who survived one harrowing mission after another in one of the most hostile places on earth. Dan Dorchak served as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps when he was just 20 years old. The Henrico man flew more than 50 missions in the Pacific theatre in a B-24. Many of Dan’s missions took him over the Himalayas and into a hail of Japanese anti-aircraft flak. The Pittsburgh native kept a personal log book of each flight. He lost many friends and was even shot while in the cockpit. Dan kept the bullet doctors removed from his neck. In March of 2024 Dan turned 100-years-old. He considers himself lucky to have lived so long. Dan isn’t done. He has one more mission he wants to accomplish.
