My favorite TOPS knife since the Tanimboca Puukko. I love everything about it: good leverage, weight distribution, blade shape and grind, and the handle is great for my hands. It'll take down 3" limbs fairly easy. My LT Wright Switchback is still my go-to for general use, but the Brush Wolf lives in my pack for heavy duty stuff.

I have added the Brush Wolf to my collection several months ago. It is a unique knife that is very capable of almost any task that I use a knife blade for. It is very well made and the sheath is great. The handle ergonomics are unique on this blade. The handle works well for this blade. The handle will work well for medium and large hand grips. I have used it with large size work gloves and it worked well. The thickness of the knife steel gives it some heft and rigidity. I find that the 1095 carbon steel sharpens up great. I am a big fan of Tops Knives. I like that they are made in America. All of the Tops knives that I have purchased have always been "Top" quality knives. Thank you for your review. I have purchased many Tops Knives over the years because of "Gideons Tactical" reviews.

Great review, wish it was posted sooner, bought a brush wolf about a month ago, very happy with it. Aaron. Just wanted to let you know I purchased the Brush Wolf, based on your review, and can not wait to use this thing. I also purchased the Tops Nata as well. Maybe a review on the Tops Nata? Between the Brush Wolf and the Nata I can get most bushcraft chores done. I also use a hori hori by Dalstrong for digging. A hand chain saw for larger work. I am hoping to round out my bushcraft blades with the Tops High Impact. So thank you for the review on the Brush Wolf. It is one bad ass blade. Love that Nessmuck style look. I am a sucker for that. Will probably purchase the Joker Nesmuck flat grind for food prep.

Men I see the video and the tears starting to fall with a smile on my face. I made a knife years ago a little bigger than the tops. 1/4 inch thick 5160 steel. It was a gift for a great friend. He is very happy looking the video on your RU-vid channel too. If you send me a mail address I can send you the pictures of the knife and testing in the south America jungles. Hand made knife. A very interesting knife indeed. Yes, the handle looks a bit on the thin side. I would love to see a side by side comparison with the Earth Skills knife. I know that these two are quite different, but they do carry certain similarities and would be very interesting to see where these overlap in use and where each of them is better / more suited.

I bought the knife. After two days I have a first impression. The design of the blade is ingenious. In my opinion, the handle design should be revised. In the form it feels strange and tiring when working for a long time.

Thanks Aaron. I'm really fascinated about what you said regarding the coating, especially how it held up in Florida. I usually stay away from 1095, precisely because I'm in hot humid, and salty conditions all the time.

I live on the coast, and prefer 1095 even when I’m diving down in the ocean. Although my favorite steel would be AEB-L. O1 is also good. As long as you maintenance your kit, you shouldn’t have any issues with rust.

Looks great! Does it compare to a Condor mini Duku to you? But with a straight spine? I can see a lot of similarities en the edge and it behavior. The finger choil is what I am missing on the Duku though. Great knife

First tops knife I've seen for awhile. Idk if it's just me, but what happened to tops recently? I've barely heard any news from them or any new models released in the last year. I know they had quite a few to be released but I never see them for sale anywhere and half the time most of their knives are out of stock everywhere besides a few

A machete worth 20 dollars, works better. To many backyard buscraft . I lived in central America jungle and never a fancy knife is needed. That type of knife is good to be put in a wall display and keep it there.

Honestly, most knives by tops are just glorified wall hangers. Sure they could work, but at the price they charge i would always still just use my tramontagne machete or my 50 dollar skrama.

The blade should be 2-3" longer. I hate the handle, give it a handle with a gentle curve , like the esee 6hm. My favorite Tops is the BOB 3.5. The best nesmuk is made by Brisa.

The Earth Skills is a completely different knife and not as durable. It would depend on use but if I could only pick one it would be this.

Those 2 guys are not the original designers the original design was 5/16 thick with a full flat grind had a crusher on the handle the finger guard had drop to it behind the finger choil

The handles of knife companies are often a bad ergonomic design. It seems that these designers never used knives to work in the field. And the simplest handles are the most effective ones like Mora or Fallkniven.

Looks like a great knife but the appearance doesn't resonate with me, kind of looks like a Tactical Banana (contact me for copyright on that term, TOPS). I wish TOPS would make more of their great designs of yesteryear. Is it just me or does it seem like they only make a model for a year or so and then it's gone forever. The Apache Dawn or U.S. Combat knife need to back on the market.

Hey, yes im one of the designers and my self and my brother nate both have xl hands. We thinned the handle out because we were concerned about the weight. We are both backpackers, so we wanted it to be beefy but light.......
