Hi James . I`ve just had a look at the video from when you fitted the roof timber . I reckon you`ve got three options . Easiest and cheapest would be to screw the boards in place . Those staples you used will be working loose with the movement of the wood . Maybe just try a small area and see how it goes . Second option is to take all the boards off , put extra noggins in (they`re a bit too far apart , really) , and then screw the boards back in place . Best option , but most expensive , would be to replace the boards with PVC . That said , I know you`re very honest in your video`s and this is a good example that sometimes using cheap materials can come back and bite you on the bum , and cost you money in the long run . Good luck with it - I know you`ll do a great job , whatever you decide !
Hi James A permanent fix for your wood t&g ceiling could be exterior plastic t&g cladding which does come in self coloured black. It is exterior rated and never needs painting etc and copes with temperature differences much better than wood and never expands due to moisture and will last for years, all you have to do is occasional light cleaning. The best fix for that would be vinyl soffit …it comes in blk and 12 foot lengths by 12 inch inter locking also have vented or solid …run perlins(2x4) on those pipes lengthwise of pond every 2 feet and then screw soffit every 2 feet you will need jay Chanel for the edges or depending on that pipe set up, you may still be able if you have enough room to lay soffit like the wood … but I can’t tell that from the video … gl James
Having the plant in the tank will add to the water loss with the amount it drinks,my display tank in my living room has loads of Pothos growing out of it and drains the water a lot quicker , also if you get a clear acrylic sheet and make a lid you can buy little corner clips for the tank to set the lid on, and it will really help with evaporation

I make lids for my tanks out of the d-d reefer jump guard kits but swap the netting for polycarbonate sheet glued in with black silicone. It works a treat in stopping evaporation and you can shape it around anything you need coming out of the tank. Other option is an auto top up which I have on my 500 litre cichlid tank which I'm running with a sump, maybe a bit overkill on a small tank bit will defintaly help. The sentree model from amazon is a great simple design.
You could fit an Auto top off system to the rear filtration section of the tank. Invaluable in small nano reefs but great in any aquarium. I use the H2Ocean compact ATO in my nano, maybe put one on your Amazon wish list 👍
Sometimes wood cladding can do that when there are too many nails/screws holding it. Instead of just expanding a bit the fasteners allow pressure to build and they can pop like that. Small nails/tacks in the Groove and only the Groove (except the first panel) holding it up and don't push the tongue all the way in can help. As you would have to take it down to do that, painting it before assembly will also help hide any future expansion gaps. :)
I built 2 big garden gates framed with 4x2 and t+g inside the frame. All just pinned initially had the same issue so dried them all out re fitted but screwed them and not had any issues for the last 2 winters
Window cleaning brush is amazing. Thats the one i use and it fits on the shower trays so i can clean there too. Yeah if you call Vyair, you can buy the little nobs feom there. They are fairly cheap. Easy to replace. Keep well

Brilliant episode. Wood expands and contracts, can be a pain in the Arsenal - like some of the other comments, anything such as kitchen or bathroom panels in place of the tongue and groove would be an easy fix - if you can’t get the right colour, paint it before you fix it 👍👍👍 all the best - Jako 🙏🙏
To replace the roof over your pond you can buy mirrored plastic sheets mirrored one side and just plain on the back so then you will be able to get another aspect and view of your koi without even looking into the pond whilst sat outside and if it's a rainy day that we get most days in the UK lol.. you can sit in your conservatory and still watch your koi from the mirror 👍
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 Hi James good morning to you and your family..but the mirrored plastic I'm on about is not like a glass mirror it's totally different it's like a shiny aluminium coated plastic but a mirror in a different aspect..try and find somewhere online who sells them and just ask for a sample and I can't see it affecting any filming at all.. other than that just get some marine plywood 👍
