This must be the SNOWIEST year on Svalbard! Another snowstorm rolled in bringing with it roaring winds, and tons of new snow. All we could do was wait it out in front of the fire, and then deal with the aftermath the next day... I hope you enjoy this video, thank you so much for being here! 🧡☕️

Glad you can enjoy the beauty of the snow. I grew up loving snow, and still enjoy the beauty of it in the mountains. However living in the northeast US growing up, especially in areas of lake effect snow around the Great Lakes, it gets old after 6 months of it, possibly a meter a week. And you may have heard of Buffalo getting 2 meters in one storm! I now live in the southeast US where we rarely get snow unless headed to the mountains.

I'd heard of an ice hotel that's carved in Sweden every year, but never heard of regular people making impromptu snow furniture. How cool! We did too! Yesterday, April 24, 2023, we got snow here in Juneau, Alaska. We're nowhere near as far north as Svalbard, but after a week of sunny hikes with Chewie (my Havanese puppy), we got enough to cover the ground. Unlike your snow, however, ours will turn to rain and just get sloshy, soupy and muddy.

The joy of Celilia dancing around in the snow - we had hardly any snow here this winter and I am sad. Now any chance of snow is past (and if it did fall at this point it would be really bad - although we are going to be very cold for here at this time of year, close to 32F/0C which is bad enough - everything is green and growing...) It's just so nice that you love the climate where you live so much. Here in coastal northern California, we have a climate many would consider ideal. Yet the reality is that most people never stop complaining! And heaven forbid it should rain. The whining never stops, even though we desperately need normal rainfall. You're a breath of fresh air, LOL. I'm not sure I could live with so much snow--I feel it's a pain in the butt in exactly all the ways rain isn't--but it surely is beautiful.

I recommend installing cordless cellular shades - ones that open top down/bottom up - in the kitchen and living room/TV room. I know you have blackout curtains for your bedroom. Not sure if your window frames work for installing cellular shades, but I personally love them in the living areas (they have to be cordless and top down/bottom up option for me to love them) and I know they come in a dark blackout fabric that will turn your rooms very dark despite light leakage around the edges. :) And I just saw one on YT shorts that pulled down a light filtering fabric OR a blackout fabric, depending on which way you pulled them down. I also saw a smart blinds video where they were controlled by app/remote and you could open them all at once with a push of a button or on a timer! :)

I live in the UK so what we have in terms of longer nights is the winter in nothing compared to the polar nights shown on this channel but I miss them so much when spring comes! As much as I like seeing everything turning green and coming back to life again, I miss being cosy and it being dark at 5pm. I enjoy some of the warmth that spring/ summer brings but I do look forward to autumn/ winter coming in again.

I love this. We live in Bemidji, Minnesota and still have snow on the ground. Been very snowy here too! Cozy house (kosileg hus)but do look forward to a time of green, blooms, lots of different birds, a bit of swimming and kayaking in the Mississippi headwaters.

I found your channel because I'm an armchair Arctic/Antarctic researcher. I work with snow/ sea ice/glacier data from satellites, but I've never seen sea ice in person. Just love seeing the interaction of your “boys”! Your life looks so uncomplicated and ultimately less stressful, but I know that isn’t really true.
