Do it your way. If you are not that successful on YT don't worry about it, you have to do what you want to do. You may not need to travel but you will need to research the back stories of your mini documentaries, but of course you can do that at home. I have been here since you started and you have given it a real good shot. Time for you to make a change and enjoy what you are doing. Nigel
Hey Josh. I have become a fan because of your simple, down to earth videos. Most of us can't travel to exotic places and we photograph close to home and enjoy doing it. That's what I like about your channel. I wish you well in your new approach. See you on the next video.
Keep doing what you are doing, it is a major reason why i continue to watch your videos. You are one of the few photographers I follow on YT where I feel I can relate to when it comes to photos and life in general and that I a HUGE selling point for your channel for me. I have your presets and use them a ton, they are another example of the great work you are doing. So keep doing what you are doing, breath of fresh air in a world of gear review and travel to places 99% of us will never be able to get to or afford.

You Carry on as what fits in with your work and family life. Ive watch your channel from back when you only had a couple of hundred subscribers to now over 16K ! What I like is that you are like one of us, just a bloke out with a camera and sharing some great tips along the way. No top end gear or exotic trips and paid photo shoots, just nice and simple. Keep up the great work with how you wish to do it !

I love the traffic cone picture…just the sort of thing I go for. I’m glad I found your channel, as I’ve been going through the exact same thing with my mojo. Almost giving up, but it’s always in my mind as I love photography. Your content is making me feel like I want to get out again.
From a personal point of view I always enjoyed your videos specifically because you don't go off to exotic locations, wandering around Britain is what most of us do, for me it is much more relatable, added to this, your presentation style is relaxed and genuine, I look forward to your future videos.
I've said it to you here before, and now I'll say it again: You Do You and we'll tag along with you when you're about. I really enjoy your photos and don't think you need to downplay your talent. And while humility is a good thing, we shouldn't let it define the quality of what we do. I like the scenery you take me to, and your commentary and philosophical rambles. I like the street photography too (I have 2 Instas: one for Tasmanian landscapes local to me and one for street because I enjoy both), so feel free to throw a few more of those into the mix if you feel so inclined. That’s what I’ve enjoyed most about your videos tbh. I live in a city of 35 million people (Tokyo) so just watching your beautiful outdoor scenery, some photographs and listening to your great voice IS the content. Expanding on that sounds ideal to me
You know, I absolutely love your real stories! Struggles are normal, don't give up, you've "got what it takes"! You are simply making another life choice and there is nothing wrong with that! Don't do videos, just to do them or because you think we need more content! I look forward more to your videos now that they are less frequent! Don't let the burn-out or the stupid weather get you down, you shoot when you shoot and what you are passionate about, otherwise it is just not worth it and will cause more burn-out. You take care and I will leave you with a saying in Spanish "Si se puede"! (Yes you can)

Hi Josh! I subscribed recently because I like your style and watched a few of your past videos over the last days. I agree with you that there are enough channels and videos out there that review stuff, teach photograph or travel around the world. But the market for the first two is quite limited: for the first there are much more reviewers than actual gear is released and for the second at some point everything is said. And regarding travel: like you said not everyone can or want to do it. But telling your own story is something that's unique and IMO much more natural (and it works from everywhere). I'm really looking forward to your next videos and following your path along :)
I've always enjoyed your videos and look forward to seeing whatever you publish. Also, i do not think you are alone in your RU-vid struggles. I've noticed other channels, that are also good, are making chnges to keep their viewer/ subscription numbers. I believe the yt algorithm has changed and people in general are falling into a malaise.

Well done dear friend in your desire to not let anything come ahead of your family and the other more important things in your life which take priority, I 100% can relate to. Those sacrifices will never be wasted!! I’ve learnt a lot from your videos regarding photography tips (along with other you tubers) which I apply to videography as a hobby as I also have an outdoor job to pay the bills (albeit affected by the weather as a fellow ‘silicone maintenance engineer’ or ‘vision technician’😬). With this established perspective, if we keep the most important things 1st, everything else fits into place !!! A bit like putting rocks in a Jar and then small pebbles and sand……the bigger things come first, followed by lesser things, then even smaller things!! Due to that vital prioritising it all works (but not from our own wisdom!!!)👌👍☝️🙏🙂

To be honest Josh, lately I haven’t been watching the majority of the photographers who have been posting RU-vid videos from locations abroad. I prefer the photographers that have posted from their local area or slightly further afield within the UK as these are places I will be able to visit. Do what you feel comfortable with and perhaps most importantly, do what you ENJOY.

I love the natural way you present. You do what makes you happy. The fact that you dont travel far and wide is great...neither can so many of us. Whatever you make, whenever, I'll watch.
To be fair, I'm not a photagrapher as I've only been out with my camera once since November. Oddly enough that was yesterday. Life does get in the way of our hobbies.
I was also very uninspired this winter. Normally where I live we have a lot of snow in the winter. I was looking forward to getting out and working on my photography skills. Turns out it was a zero snow winter, just dead and brown all season. So, I just stayed in and did other things. I cant wait to get back outisde taking pictures again.
Do what makes you happy, there's no point going out with a camera if it's not fun, i really enjoy your videos, like you said, it's not all about the photos. 📸
I totally understand you Josh. The situation you described also applies to me. Family, photography and filming and where the priorities sit. There is no real need now for more tutorial on YT. Stories, entertainment and documentary is much more welcome. I think your content is also going to be more authentic and more believable if you can enjoy making and creating it and you can be more enthusiastic about it. Do how you would like to do it and don't worry about YT. Audience is going to find no matter what.
4:04 this might be a dumb question but did you use manual focus for this? If not what focus setting? Also I’ve missed these videos but I understand the photography/family balance. It’s not easy
