I'm white and even I was crying from laughing. As someone who isn't a native speaker that is exactly how I learned a lot of english. By listening or reading English media with my basic English. Sometimes I'd just have to guess a word ir saying based on context and for some time I had a few weird misconceptions until they got corrected with more context.

Michii's story is absolutely wild and precious. Gonna add on with a bit of history, Indonesia got controlled by the Dutch for a time and then the Japanese, and then freed. So they still had a kind of fascination with the rest of the world especially with the west as they were liberated by the allies. Also because of how multi-ethnic Southeast Asia is, "we don't see race" we divide people into tribe, language, religion, nationality of their parents or grandparents, and shade of skin, etc. without exactly classifying it into race.

"It's their stream!" "It's my cooking" honestly, valid argument. I love to see that type of hospitality that almost disregard any other priorities because it is food. Michi talking about the gamer word took a root in Indonesia and just the pure joy that Heavenly got is still funny after a second watch. Subaru suddenly getting kissed by Nerissa and screamed is so funny. Everyone immediately just all know the assignment and jump on Subaru is great too.

6:05 that whole stream was wild. Everything started after Michi got into the Kendrick - Drake drama. Heavenly joined after she wanted help with under slang in the song “Not Like Us”. There are many memorable moments in that stream like Michi calling Eminem “white noise”, Baltimore accent test, and the accidental “he’s gonna fill me up” ESL moment.

Millennials are at the age where they have stopped cringing at (well-meaning) parents' jokes because we are the ones making the jokes now. Many of the popular vtuber parents are highlights because they are just their child, but further progressed down the development path (Kobo's mom, Yuzu's mom, Calli's mom, Matsuri's mom), or are a clear contrast to their child (Pekomama).

@@raylenn4444 You're not gonna like my opinions on that either. lmao Chopsticks, especially reusable metal ones, are just like an utensil. You can use them for any small food that you can pick up with chopsticks. The only restriction of their use is in your mind. Pineapple on pizza is delicious. The only thing you absolutely should not do is mixed pineapple and pepperoni on the same pizza. THAT is a crime. My favorite pizza is Hawaiian BBQ chicken. It's the perfect mix of spicy and sweet, without the excess grease from other spicy stuff like sausage or pepperoni.

Clips like the one between Heavenly and Michi are so funny, being on the internet as much as we are, it's easy to forget how the concept of "slurs" is just completely alien almost everywhere in the world outside the US.

Eh... not really. Indonesia also has its own history of slurs (though more ethnic than racial). What *is* alien in Indonesia is the concept of slurs only being allowed to be used by a particular group and no one else. In Indonesia, if it's considered offensive towards a particular group, no one is allowed to say it, including the very group it's offensive towards.

I wouldn't say it's foreign outside the US, but rather that the recognition of other languages' and cultures' slurs is not easy, and can lead to people unknowingly use them. The US is the outlier because most communities that have slurs against them don't try to co-opt them as ethnic slang, let alone slang that then gets used outwardly in popular media.

American-centric thinking is why we have cases like john somali, that paul guy who filmed a dead body, and any number of irl streamers who go to asian countries and act like damn animals. Slurs shouldnt be taken so seriously. Only 1 slur is and its the one you dont even have to say to have someone chimp out and stomp your head in for because of your skin color.

Sorry to say this, but every language has slurs. They are just different than the slurs used by other languages. The Japanese slur for Koreans was basically calling them "garlic eaters" which does not sound offensive, but was considered a huge insult at the time. Even common words, like "barbarian" started off as a slur. The Roman's referred to anyone with Germanic/Norse origins "barbarians" because that's how they heard the language "bar bar bar". It's a common word, but was a slur to start.

Kobo's mom invading our boys' stream was an absolute highlight, lol. I get why Kobo would want to shoo her away, but it was hilarious :) Michi is a precious gem, as are Ollie and Subaru, too! This was a great compilation of clips. Edit: also, what the heck do you mean, "huh"? Eating popcorn with a spoon is just efficient! Think about it: no sticky fingers. If you just don't agree with using a spoon, then try chopsticks, it's great as well!

2 things: 1. Watching that Michi clip was a rollercoaster of sorts because my entry into the rabbit hole was Miko singing the n-word. 2. I would explode if Kobo and Ollie had a collab with their moms present. Maybe with a side of Holostars.
