The prairie grass don't automatically grow on this lot but you can buy a few patches and scatter on your ranch, those will regrow like normal and it will also make your lot look better
For food, I suggest growing one or more of the mushrooms from Cottage Living. They each have a soup that only requires the necessary mushroom as an ingredient, so it's pretty easy for Simple Living.
Even if you give Agnes a kitchen, you will still need to cook everything due to the simple living lot trait. She won't make food for herself. You can buy a cooler though and she will automatically get quick meals because those don't honor simple living rules.
I do that as well plus I moved a feeder out there next to the water. The one spot of prairie grass you see in there is actually a lot of them on top of each other, I also use tool mod with those to seperate them every now and again. The ones I seperate stay in the new spots, while the orginal spot just keeps spawning new ones on top of each other. Weird bug.
The knocked over bins are exactly why the money bin is so useful, since having that one means that you don't need outdoor bins and other sims/horses can't then knock it over
Not sure if someone else mentioned already, but I was also having trouble with horses not using the ball for fun on my lot so I recently put one in my inventory and then “placed in world” in the field they hang out in and my horses use it out there great. Might help keeping up needs better and maybe not have to fence the whole ranch. Hope that’s helpful to someone!

If you have Free Spirit horses you don't even need a barn, which I don't like. I built this gorgeous barn and have THREE Free Spirits and they will only sleep outside. The barn is completely unused. They should fix that so they sleep inside at least SOMETIMES. Sims is always all or nothing, no middle ground. But I REALLY love this pack.
Suggestion: Move the chicken coop into the mini sheep/goat area because honestly those little guys don't need as much space as they have. Then get rid of the former chicken enclosure to make room for the horse training items. I also think giving Lady a permanent partner to help out on the ranch would be better than ranch hands (even if the partner is a platonic friend or family member or business partner, not a romantic one).
All of the trash cans can be knocked over. Dumpster or trash shoots are your only options. I also use the wooden box looking one from get together called "Trashe Cann". It will get knocked over, but look like it's still upright. If you click on it, you can pick it up and it starts working again.
For the live in services mod, the service will “disappear” if the game moves them into a household. Whoever you are using as a service should be moved into your households in manage worlds, so they aren’t moved in. Or, you can flag them as homeless through MCC.
We need the Sims team to update the Ranch Hands to be able to live in household like butlers. That way we can make Bunks or Smaller houses for the Ranch Hands
YOU HAVE BABY DUCKS! :) I made a family with a male and female horse, played a different family with neighborhood stories on, and came back to that family to find they had bred two baby horses and both people had jobs

Loving the series~ Just some random tips tho: If you don't want to sell flowers or produce and don't want to use them as fertilizer, you can always recycle them on the machine. Also, for extra fruits, you can always turn them into fruit nectar, almost all of them can be turned into nectar, and that includes the money tree fruit....for some odd reason. If you don't want npcs to to kick the trashcan, there is a mod noautonomouskicktrashcan by Bienchen/Sims4me that fixes that. Instead of selling from inventory due to no money, you can always always use the Aspiration reward Marketable with Nectar making.
43:20 props to you for still trying looking for trash cans who work on this game, I gave up years ago and only use dumpsters outside and those garbage disposal from apartments inside the houses. Sometimes it doesn't look good but save me from going insane with this bug Aaaaaand you gave up at 46:34 😂
When my sim harvested that prairie grass where the horses hang it went on and on - that closest patch is multi-stacked. If you pick it, all the horses don't even go over there.
Almost half an hour in, and my only critique is that Bluey should have a little hat for the riding outfit, too. It’s so cute, every time time I see it it makes me happy 😂
James! If you put a horse ball in your sim's inventory and have them go out to the field off lot, they can place the ball in world - fun problem solved. It totally works!
There’s a CC set from Baki’s that is invisible pet beds you can place anywhere to have the pets sleep there. Large dogs can’t fit on the small beds, but ALL pets can fit on the large beds. There is also a cc item i forget who makes it, but it’s called “nature’s kitty litter” which is an invisible litterbox that i don’t think you have to clean and that way you don’t have to have a high-tech litterbox in the stable. Also! Hugo needs a bandana around his neck, every good farm dog needs a cool bandana.

When I have the training stuff on my lot, the horses train themselves autonomously which is quite good! And it brings their fun up too, but it makes them sad when they miss.
I loooove this LP ! Little tip, I've learn recently that if you click right on the arrows (to sell produces) it will add them by ten. So... less clicks, it changed my sims life ! Or mine, because I was the one clicking to sell all those things XD
I know you filmed this part already but in the Red Barn I would use a ladder to get to the top floor and I would actually make 2 mini apartments; one on the top and one on the bottom, the live-in services could live in the bottom and then with the ladder going to the top room, you can put a little kitchenette bathroom and Murphy bed or small bed of some sort for stay over guests and family. If you don't do that idea, I'm definitely going to do it in my own game. Maddie did something similar in her LP [Deli]
You don't need to wait till Monday to sell the nectar. If you sell it at the general store on weekends you will get more money for them. Edit: as far as I know, the only outdoor bin that gets knocked over and you can still pick up is the expensive one, the one just before the dumpster.
James, stock your pond with fish you caught somewhere else and put a fishing sign so you could start fishing in your pond and cook food other than fruit cobbler lol
James maybe, just suggestion; you should sell basil, buy a mare with good traits do bluey can have a foal, this way you get better traits in them and have a good line of foals
I wonder if the lot is just too big for the horses to find the ball. Could try to add a ball to that side of the lot where they hang out, or even flip the entire stable to that side!
James seems really hesitant to make a lot of money because it’s “too easy” but I feel like the ranch needs a massive makeover with lots of landscaping and a better layout. Lady deserves a huge, fully-renovated farm house and we need a proper house for the ranch hand. It’ll cost a lot of money to do all of this so I think James really shouldn’t too stringent with the money-making…
Can he still use the money table? That could make it a bit easier, he could just put anything he wants to see on there without going to town every time. That way he still makes money legitimately
I know it’s early in the keys play but I’d love to see some gameplay with kid’s learning to ride horses maybe Lady could give private riding lessons to kids?
I started using the trash can that pays you for throwing things away after getting tired of the trash can problem. They wont knock that one over - if you have that option
Get the cottage living animal shed, buy 2, put one on the lot, shrink the second way down put inside the first. Both animals will use one shed. I don't know if it will work for more animals other than 2
I bought this pack after watching your first rags to ranches video & its entertaining af. My point being in the comments tho is... do you/yall know you can find the vitality nectar in the wild prairie grass ?! I've found two in there so far lmfao. Also, I trained my horse to lvl 10 in all skills & swear I'm NEVER doing that again hahaha. Call it a major burnout lololol.
I wish you would move the horse ball...both. Theres plenty of room in other areas. The area seems so cramped in between the horse barn and the 1st paddock.
there are a mod where you get the gate you have but where it allows you to have the gate locked for the horses but you can still ride in on them its called RSM Special Paddock Gate i think
