I don't think non farmers including myself realize just how much work it takes to run a dairy farm. Thank you for feeding us. Also glad you didn't break any walls this time...

Nothing worse than poop all plugged up! Glad you figured it out and that the pump is fine. Will be nice for spring weather to fully pump out to the lagoon.

Don't know if you noticed but shortly after removing the pump a huge straw ball fell away from the impeller. That was likely the blockage causing the problem.

I worked at a AF Base as a career and we stripped the Air Craft and when the jet was done stripping, we used a pneumatic vacuum to pick up the solids. Suggestion that you guys could possibly purchase a vacuum like that and just pick up the solids and say once a year go down into the area and vacuum the solids out

Good video as always ! Maybe a water pipe on the side of the pump that you open a minute or two once a week that would spray directly under the pump to make sure there is always a liquid pit under the pump ?

Hey Jan At work we have septic lift stations Every couple of years we have to use a hydrovac truck and long wand with a spinner end on the onboard pressure washer to clean up the solids That benefits are clean lift stations and you can do it from surface without entering the tanks

Hey there Kid, I hope you're all well and good! When you said you were going to turn the pooh pump on, while it was disconnected, I thought, what could possibly go wrong, but it wasn't to bad, like they say, "it's a crappy job, but somebody's gotta do it" I noticed that when your strawpack is cleaned out, you go right back with fresh straw, have you ever thought about spreading Barn Lime out on the floor before putting the new straw down, which would help control the ammonia thats produced from the cows waste, which can cause respiratory problems for them, as well as some other undesirable issues. I hope y'all have a good one, and that you'll get some Spring weather before long. "Nothing Runs Like A Deere" 🦌👍🇺🇸

Jan when you said several months ago as the build started that you were going to Scape the dung from the calves/dry cows into the channel at the end I did comment not a good idea because of the straw going down. That's not the end of your problem, it will happen again at some point,- I've had sand cubicles with a stirrer n pump to a separator and they don't like forgien objects like straw, stones, plastic off silage clamps if idiots scrape any stray bits down the slats. And it's always a sat or sun if the pump blocks lol

isn't it shredding blades on the pump wheel anyway for straw and debris, Jaan? Otherwise it good if you have the opportunity to press water backwards thru it (best is with a fire-pump if you have one). Rinses well! :)

You might want to consider installing a second pump which will use some of the liquid in the pit to blast all the solids at the bottom in order to keep the solids from settling - especially from around the main pump.
