In this video, I took a trip to Repton, Alabama to visit the new dinosaur adventure land. I was given a tour and inadvertently went 4-wheeling with Creationist Kent Hovind.
I wanted to share this...weird experience with you.
Update:
I did want to address some common misconceptions I've been getting about this video though.
This video was not some expose. I grew up as a Young Earth Creationist and was taught Creation by both Kent and his son growing up. As I've become more educated, I've adopted more of a Theistic Evolutionary standpoint (that is, God used Evolution as His method of Creation). I think this is what generates so much anger towards me. I think for a lot of Christians, it implies I don't believe in the Bible. I've explained in previous videos that I take context into account. For instance, we do not interpret books like Psalms and Proverbs the same way we do the Gospels. I disagree with the interpretation of the opening of Genesis.
I still believe the point of it: That God created the universe.
I do not agree with Kent Hovind on Creationism, but I did want to to experience his tour and listen to what he had to say. Which I did. I just gave my unfiltered thoughts on the experience afterwards.
I'm also really disappointed in the Christians who have chosen to comment on this video, saying downright hateful things towards not only me, but my girlfriend. If I wasn't already a believer, I would want nothing to do with this brand of Christianity. Instead of healthy conversation, it's finger pointing and judgement.
I may not believe in Creation, but I do believe in loving thy neighbor, and that the world will know we are Christ's followers by our love for one another. It's okay to disagree with me. It's not okay to be a hateful douche.
