The time has finally come to hire a prep center for my Amazon FBA Online Arbitrage business. I would never go with one that didn't give me the time of day, with a phone call or zoom meeting...at minimum.
I knew the general concept of how prep centers work but wasn't sure about the details. I asked a variety of questions, and these are the 12 that I felt were the most impactful to painting the picture.

I just started with a prep center in a tax free state. It took them 1 month to get my first order out which had about 350 items in it. This was about a week ago. My cash flow is screwed for this 4th quarter...my product are still in transit.one of the shipments was created and paid for a week ago and its still not in transit. The team there all have the flu. To say I,'m not a happy camper is an understatement. If you have good luck with this one please do let us know. Thanks for letting me vent! Thanks Tonya. I like the prep center but the downside is they’re in Florida so I only send certain categories to them that are tax free like grocery and vitamins. I also only give them about 1/4 of my items as I wanted to test the waters. Prep centers can be great but I think there’s a hugeee opportunity for some folks to open some with transparency, updated tech etc. People are so desperate to not back they just are willing to take the downside that comes with it, unfortunately.

Here is what I’m still not clear on: If they use inventory lab is it not going to charge us for the shipping through Amazon once they submit through inventory lab or does it charge them for the shipment somehow and they pass that down to us? Also how are you able to set the price on your items before they go out?

Cool! Just started w one in a tax free state. Also, there's a thing going on w/ a Montana prep ctr where they steal items and sell it themselves w their own amz acct.

I heard about that! This is why I'm going with referrals, making sure they are down for a Zoom call and not sending all of my products but rather, slowly progress. Mind sharing your prep center and if you have an opinion, yet?

@@dukedoesamazon Hi Duke, I actually literally started with them 2 weeks ago, and they just sent my first shipment with about 1 week of turnaround time, it might be too early to give an opinion or refer them to someone, but ill definitely keep you posted and see if they are a good fit. I also use another prep ctr in CA where i send my units to , from my suppliers which do not charge sales tax lol..

How does this work if you have several items you want held at the prep center before shipping. For example, for me I don't like to send small shipments of 20 items. Instead I'll wait until I have a significant amount of items to make a shipping plan.

It varies by prep center. Some require X amount of items be shipped per month, some require X amount of units minimum per shipment. In general, they’re a business and not looking to be your storage unit so if you’re early on, it may pay to prep yourself.

What if the products you purchased arrives damaged at the prep center, will they return the products back to the retailer?

Don't hold me to this but I believe they notify us and then will handle the return on our behalf, for a cost. Sending it to us would cost something and I'm assuming they aren't going to take up precious shelf space. I'll know soon lol

If you don’t have a prep center before purchasing items then there’s no prep center to ship them to. I may have misunderstood the question, though.

It was a great starting point into the world of prep centers. They were solid. Only issue was they were in FL so only certain products were tax free. It was a band-aid until I found my current prep center in a tax-free state that I really like.
