Avoiding the traps of life, sooooo many. Close family and friends. In general, avoid junk foods of every description with some treats even if somewhat toxic. Take high quality supplements such as - HQ again: Multi Vitamin to at least to ensure most if not all basic needs are met. As well as other HQ supplements where required. Keep body and mind active, always keep learning and do things that make you happy - Be happy as the song mentions

Having loving friends & family, a comfortable home, stable job, reliable income, pension plan, enough money to survive, pay for bills & food, raise kids, buy them birthday & Christmas presents & go on a holiday once a year, living in nature in a house under the trees in a relaxed neighbourhood without traffic jams where people talk to each other instead of social media, living near a group sport you love & having decent people to do it with such as diving or swimming or rollerblading, and having at least one or two or ideally three high quality friends whom you can converse on the same level with in person at least once per week. A home where you can raise your family & a dog, and a partner who loves you & will support you if you stop earning or are unwell. Basically everything I no longer have 😂

You are a true researcher ..and using your G-d given gifts to shine ..wow. I truly applaud the work and heart you put into it.

I am 69, and l do think Blue Zones ideas are excellent-eat well and more plant based, have a supportive community, keep moving, have something to get up for each day. Even though being who you truly are is very important, we in the West must also realize we live in community also. Be grateful, and don't let anybody take away your internal joy.

One of the most valid videos I’ve ever seen. If more men gathered in small groups just for the purpose of TALKING as these guys did, imagine how the figures for male depression, addiction and suicide would plummet. I wish all men had the ability to take care of their mental health needs in this way so they could be happier, healthier and more fulfilled in later life rather than regretful, obese and unhappy. Men, please take note. You are not the position you hold, the money you earn, the house you live in - you are a soul who needs to be nurtured and to find peace within yourself, and if you achieve that THEN you will truly be happy. Trust me.

I loved, loved. I'm from one of the countries with more life expectancy in the world too: Spain, and I enjoyed very much the energy and interview with this old lady. My grandma died last year with 101 years old and she was wonderful too; she exercised, read everyday, ate all the things that she loved (mostly vegetables and fish, but also some sweets! :P) and had friends too! However, she saw many friends of her die as she was very old! Haha :) When she was 60, she had a car accident with her husband. He died, but she did not. She loved him a lot but I never heard her complaining about life; she was quite happy with herself, even when being alone. Things got a bit difficult when she couldnt walk anymore at 96 y.o, but I will always remember her attitude, even when she did not know many things about emotional intelligence or personal development. She had this knowledge inside her and was very insightful :) Keep going with your content! I love your channel!

As a 67 year old what I would say to younger people is that life is precious and in reality 100 years is not that long! Very interesting! I moved to Canada from Tokyo years ago and worked so hard to the point I became really sick. It is true what I was taught from my parents were work hard. As a result of it you become isolated. I have seen other documentaries about Blue Zones in Okinawa. They are very local community oriented and gather and eat, dance and sing. Very simple life but fulfilling life. Japanese called Ikigai. I might have forgotten when I moved here. Thank you for your inspiring videos. When you need a translator in Japan next time let me know.

Please keep posting videos like this! I suddenly realised that I have been working and living without a reason to achieve the "life" that is not exist. When the 95 years grandma remind me to live life slow and enjoy your life every seconds to make a day, she won everything. She has achieved and find the real happiness and happiness is just everything and everywhere when you are positive. Hope to visit Okinawa one day! I am flying over from Malaysia to Australia and hopefully I can see and experience life in a different angle when I start to live slow, enjoy doing what I am doing. This is what life should be! ❤

I think the biggest factor is purpose in life. Without something to drive you passionately to wake up each morning, you'll never find fulfillment and longevity. Also the blue zone book you read was written during a period that was very different in Okinawa. The centenarians in the book(during that period) ate differently, had purpose, had social interaction, were valued as they aged, worked until they couldn't, very active. Now, it's very westernized with the same metabolic diseases and processed foods that western society has.

I notice poorer people are most of the time happier people. People who live to work and not work to live are never saticefied. Just want more and more. Live a simple life, enjoy good friendships and be happy. That s the secret of life. I m 48 gooing 49. Life has tought me the hard way

In your video + interviews, I noticed that people especially Elderlies are passionate about living life & grateful & thankful to work everyday of their life. Like what you said, there’s no secret in living longer; I really believe that taking care & balancing of your spiritual, physical, mental, emotional & social well being which are the foundations of health are the keys to longevity. Happiness is not necessarily a direct cause of long life, but rather a correlation. Those who lead privileged lives often experience happiness and extended lifespans due to their comfortable circumstances. Privilege takes various forms beyond just financial wealth. Additionally, the notion that one can control their life's quality is a misconception propagated by fortunate individuals who may not fully comprehend the extent of their luck.

As someone who is healing from social anxiety, from my experience I know social connection plays a big part in our health and wellness! I feel like deep authentic social connections and the connection to our selves as well as healing any pain we carry from the past in our hearts plays a huge part in living a long and healthy life. Laughter is key, forgiveness, peace, self love, listening to your heart, expressing creativity, managing stress, self reflection but not to the point it consumes you, all the little things we do each day that feed our heart and soul and not our fears lead to a lighter life. It is then easier to enjoy life today in the here and now without being too anxious about the future and where we are heading. life is so much better when you have people you love and trust to share the highs and lows with. Take care of your selves everyone you deserve it! :)

As a transplant from my native Tokyo to a Seattle suburb in the stateside, I found your coverage insightful. Thank you! Also a thought-provoking summary and observations on Okinawa, which is drastically different from the mainland Japan. One another thing I'd add, after having gone though both the Japanese and the American healthcare systems (roughly 25+ years in each), the universal healthcare we have in Japan, in comparison to the U.S. Despite its flaws (no system is perfect), it is far more equitable and accessible with a stronger focus on the preventative medicine, than the private-sector driven, outrageously for-profit, greedy American healthcare system in which by the time the patients actually get to see the docs, it is often too late.. (Attested by a Japanese liver transplant surgeon who worked in the U.S.) The U.S. healthcare system seems to lack the very basic, moral principle. Unfortunately, the U.S. is a country where a moderate, very mainstream Centrist such as Sen. Bernie Sanders somehow gets labeled as "radical" left by the corporate owned MSM and the politicians who are beholden to the plutocrats who actually runs this country...!

Learning to say Yes and No..the list is big...Turning your daily chores into Sacred Daily Rituals would make all the difference. Do crazy things.. Take Risks in life.. The video answers the question about LIFE. The question isn't about " What do you live to do?", it is " What is Life?". The answer is LOVE. I have been reading and watching a lot of old people and experts talk about their lives, and I see one same thing is LOVE. You should find something and someone you love to spend with in your life, and even when you get old, find something to make you busy. Why Japanese people live so long and healthy, they work until they can't, the works can be cooking, gardening, or dancing like the old lady 95 years old doing. I am really happy for myself at 30 years old now, because I find the secrets of happy life so early, and I can enjoy the rest of my life and watching everything in my life in slow way, and also get through hard times. LOVE.

It’s not so much eating healthy, surrounding yourself with friends and happiness etc., it’s the other way around : enjoying your food (better healthy, still), being friendly and be happy with whatever life has in store for you. It doesn’t come from outside, but from inside (and then tends to manifest outside). I’m 47 and quite happier than when I was 27, basically thanks to these principles (externally, I think my life isn’t really better nor great).
