I was born in 1970 and have an uncle 4 years older...we had 90% of the car model kits you have in this collection, i still have some of the boxed kits in my collection, very cool Andy!
Andy, Have you considered sponsoring any YT content creators? Put some of these vintage kits in the hands of capable builders who will document the builds and shamelessly plug your store while doing it?
Good decision NOT to sell these through your online store. Not only would it be a hassle to pick the order, but verifying each kit is complete and up to the quality you sell at AndysHHQ would take a lot of time and cost a lot of money. Better to sell them in person where the buyer can inspect the kit for themselves. I recently purchased some kits from a dubious online store located in Utah where the retailer had obviously purchased the kits from someone's collection and many parts were missing. It would have been OK if they were listed as 'used' or such, but no indication. Contacted the owner to let them know and never heard a word back about it. 'Fool me once'... Good luck with the collection. Glad to see so many kits available to the model community again. 👍
That's cool as long as you keep Luka Cee away! Last time he bought all of the 66' flip nose and I haven't seen him build one! I'll be waiting to get a shot at a few. Thanks Andy! Oh yeah and Luka 😉👍
I’m not a car guy, but I noticed a Monogram ‘L’ill Coffin’ in there and I built that model when I was about 16yo. I am now 71 so that is how old that kit is. I remember I made a slot car out of it back when the big tracks were around here in Australia, and if I remember correctly, I trashed it in the first race. Good times, and a great collection Andy.
Woah - and I thought my stash of 45+ car kits was too much! We don't get so many of the US kits in Europe so I recognise very few of these as ones I have or have built. Very cool collection.
My wonderful wife needs to see this! My collection might fill ten of those Home Depot boxes, but this collection is the largest I've seen! I hope to make a big dent in my collection when I actually retire, and lately I keep the shrink on now to add value for resale.
Wow, that one purchase alone is more then the inventory of most hobby stores. Have fun and good luck to the customers that find that rare kit you’ve been looking for.
Those will make someone's day! I started out with cars (in the 60's) before getting into military kits. My car kits were so old they didn't have chrome parts OR black vinyl tires. This is an awesome collection for sure.
I live in Baltimore and in 1997 i was given a job to clean out a old abandoned Shell station which had been abandoned for 53 years, i found 7 boxes of Hot Wheels car never opened along with vintage signs and i kept it all. I have not sold any of it yet but this summer i will be selling it all.
Gosh, I haven't done car kits in ages, but I recognize a couple of these as kits that got me into building models in the first place ages and ages ago. Well, 30 years, probably not that many ages for some folks reading this =P
I saw an original issue AMT ‘59 Buick and the A100 Touch Tone Terror but most of the kits you’ve shown are 1980s and later including all the Jo-Hans. Still desirable pieces though. I’m most worried though about the numbers, if that’s 3000 kits I’m scared to know just how many I must currently own… 😂
How Awesome. Building models is exciting. My first model at 9 years old, a Sherman Tank. It came out like a gigantic wax blob, i put way to much testors gel glue on it. My dad made a huge deal when testors released liquid glue. He came unglued.
That is an amazing stash of kits!! We lost a great hobby shop in Sebastian, FL recently and that shop and the owner will be greatly missed. Riverside Hobbies was a third of your store, Andy but he had many different kits that went from floor to ceiling and lots of supplies too! It was so much better than Hobby Lobby but sadly the owner passed away and his wife retired and with no one else to run the place, it's gone. Now, I think I might have to book a trip out west to find a good hobby shop and you could use the business!!
Now that is an impressive collection. Too bad those kits are not available online. I wish I could get my hands on some but I can't travel to Arizona due to my dissability. I'n also recovering from heart surgery. But nice haul nonetheless. Keep those videos coming, it's all that kept me motivated and entertaines while I was in the hospital.
Hi Andy, my dad owned a 69 Pontiac Grand Prix that he loved. When I was 5, we bought a model of that, can’t remember maker. Do you have one and if so, is it for sale? My dad passed and this is very nostalgic for me. I have been looking for this plastic kit for about 20+ years but cannot find it, and would prefer plastic over a pre-built metal version (that is rare but available)! Great work and glad to see you doing so well. Your passion comes out and is why your seeing so much success! Thank you. Joe
Those old kits remind me of when I was a kid and I would spend hours going through the Auto World model catalog, trying to decide what one or two kits I wanted to order.
I see that 1970 Chevy Blazer AMT. I'm looking for the Revell Chevy love with the river rat speedboat. I haven't seen that kit since I was 10 years old. Hard to find.
So I see all the boxes with lot numbers on them. Was this a living estate or estate sale? And did you just buy them enmasse or bid each one? I follow a lot of on line auctions of trains and am amazed at the number of NOS or unopened stuff from the 50's and onward. I'm 100 miles from any hobby shop and would love to be closer to any , but I'd love to see your's continued good luck and good business.
Wow !, thats a lot !. It seems there is barely no place for the Camera !. I'm afraid to guess how much did he spent for them. True Awesome collection.👍
I am 67, still building models since 1968! The size and investment of the original collector makes me ask a big WHY? What affect does this mania have on the availability and costs for other builders? In other words, this collection borders on the obscene. Like Imelda Marcos' shoe collection...
.....wondering if YOU'RE going to sell.....he said he was selling them from the store - - but anyone that doesn't know English, will be banned from the sale......idiot.....
@@kdsboosted4954 most hobby shops that I've been in have not stocked that level of vintage merchandise; they tend to focus on current production as vintage is a very niche market.
