Hi Adam. This is Tony Stephens and I have been following you on RU-vid for a long time. I want thank you for doing these beginner videos and here is my reason why. I started learning to play at 52 years old, 13 years ago. I got my first single notes by U blocking. Now I do not think it is wrong to u block, but I think it has limitations. So I have tried to learn to pucker and Tongue Block. I can do both to a degree, but the moving up and down the harmonica I can get lost on which hole I am playing. These videos have me back to working on the pucker embouchure. I am taking it slow and moving around has been going well. In the past I would get mad when things did not go right and I would go back to U blocking. I am not going to say I will completely stop U blocking, but I am going to try to learn as much as I can using the pucker embouchure. It opens the big doors on tonguing notes and I like that. I will be watching these videos as each new one comes to RU-vid. Thank you again.

These have been brilliant Adam, I also teach and this is the point where I find most students give up. They realise the instrument is far harder than they expected. I see it as my failure if I’m unable to articulate to the student in way they understand, how to play single notes. THANK YOU for giving me a couple of new ideas to help the student visualise what is happening.

Great lesson! I am just start to play for a month and i have great benefit from these lessons. Can't waith for lesson nr. 3. Greetings from Holland.

I've been with you off and on for years. My downfall is never really getting the basics. So I am once again picking up the harp to try again. This time I hope to stick with it and practice every day. Basics are essential and I can play a few songs but struggle learning new ones with new notes because I don't always get clear notes moving away from 3,4,5.

Brand new to harmonica. At first I couldn’t make a single note then I realised what I am doing wrong. When he says pucker I was thinking I needed to pucker my lips but yet he had his lips over the harmonica. I then realised that what I was actually needing to do was to kinda pucker from the inside of my mouth so making my checks inside just near my mouth try to touch each other almost, So like your about to give someone a peck on the cheek then keeping your cheeks in that position, spread open your lips as though you were going to now try and squeeze a straw into your mouth. Your mouth aches like hell afterwards but it works! 😂

Hi Adam. i am a bad student, that means all by myself doing and pick up from the masters. Me thinking, it is your own feel about an instrument and then some. Just playing bleusharp in a shape i feel good with, and try to figure out how to find notes and sound. Maybe you would like to see one short example on my channel, to hear what i tried to do after a year of and on playing. Thank you for your sharing lessons to the world

Can you do a video helping us to remember which note is which? I can easily remember CEGCEGCC. It follows a pattern. However, the draws not so much. I can train my mind to know the blow patterns as I practice, but the draws aren't always the same. Example: I'd expect CDEFG, but draw 2 is G, skipping the F, while draw 5 is the expected F. Maybe I need to learn differently. I look for patterns and then internalize them.

If I could ask I favor. I have been trying to learn this lick by ear for weeks and I have been struggling. The song: " Deer Hater" The lick seems to repeat throughout the song but I cannot find any coverage on it so I have to learn by ear. 🙏🙏🙏
