I’m a strange case-peripheral neuropathy, ancient age (79)& bad old bones. But I’m a non quitter, and pre- injury my Hcp was 3-4. I get a new knee in a week, so in the best of all worlds I’ll be on the tee in a year. Could you put me on your list? I’m a 65 year student of the game, but this is the best I’ve seen. This is a really good example of someone trying to achieve something based on result not based on the progress. Dana constantly points out in the latter part asking did you not like that? You can't rush to scratch or result without knowing what foundations it takes to get there. I also feel like it's a range session more than a lesson when you quickly pick up the next ball to hit, not taking in the information that was given on that very shot. Remember you get 1 shot/chance at every stroke, can't mulligan every shot.

At some point the goal is the result and you make adjustments to achieve that rather than worrying about the other stuff. Really it doesn't matter if your swing is "perfect" mechanically if you can't seem to hit the ball where you want.

Buddy.... LISTEN to the coaches. Holy mother of God 🤦 They give you very VERY specific instructions (which you're remarkably good at implementing almost immediately btw) and then you completely disregard it and start talking about some bullshit with your arms. LISTEN to what he said, "you're swinging a golf club, you don't have time to think about that." He's right! If you get the lower body action right, the arms will come along by simply reacting athletically to the position you're putting your body in. Based on history you won't do this, but I guarantee if you focus on the two things he taught you in this lesson, you will become better faster than you ever have before. How to load in your back swing and how to work your front side in the downswing and follow through. Forget your hands and arms! Focus only on exactly what the coaches are saying and forget everything else. I'm sorry but I had to vent.

It's because Jerome is stuck inside his own mind, and has been ever since he started this in my opinion unachievable journey to get to scratch. He has burn't through god knows how many coaches so far. He is basically uncoachable. This is the first video of his I have watched in over a year and nothing has changed. I thought I would check his progress out of curiosity and even just reading the title to this video and watching the first 3 and half minutes confirmed this. From memory every second video of his claims he has fixed something in his game to find a couple of videos later it's in need of fixing again. He will never be a scratch golfer. Future and current coaches need to realize he is damaging their brand by not following and practicing what they're teaching him. Hope you read this Jerome and change your approach and give what you are taught a chance to work.

The soft arms is a hard concept to get…until the lightbulb goes off. I’ve watch so many videos of getting a more rotational swing, yet I was still actively trying to hit the ball with force from my arms from the top. Basically mixing an arm swing with rotational swing. Try pulling down and rotating, it’s a disaster. I think Jerome is still doing that?

@@craigg2058 You are correct it's a very concept to get across to someone , because it's so much of a feeling. Until you experience that feel no amount of words could describe it. I do also believe Jerome just says that he understands what the coaches are telling him, but I don't believe it to be true. He spends far too much time questioning things and moving onto the next thing that he doesn't give it the chance to work. He may not even have a true desire to get to scratch just to become successful as a youtuber. Anyway good luck to Jerome but I won't be watching anymore of his videos because it's too much of a chore and it is also getting to repetitive trying to fix the same things with different coaches. By the way all the coaches have been consistent in their lessons and procedures. So anyone who reads this, a little advice about Jerome's videos before watching any look at the titles from one video to the next about his claims. He states that he has fixed a certain issue to only find in one of the next videos he's about to fix it again.In final there are better coaching video's out there. It's nothing personal Jerome

Another fun lesson with Dana, such an awesome coach! Just a fun tip.. If you swing driver as slow as natural with the weight of the club head(think 50% on backswing and just let it go on the way down without adding anything), you will learn to feel control of the face more in a fluid motion. Then next level to this same driver drill (works for everything) and helps A TON is hit a push, hit straight, hit pull, then spray foot powder on your driver, hit push on toe push on heel push on center, then straight on toe,heel, center, then etc etc work through the matrix.. This will help you will find what you are looking for and spice up your practice.

Jerome,,a great way to feel turning into the trail hip, is to get some furniture sliders pads close to the shape of a foot.. put one under your right foot and don't let the right foot move into your backswing. this will cause you to really internally rotate that trail hip while you turn into and not around it. If you do it wrong your trail foot will go sliding all away from you , out of control

Yea the correct pivot pressure into the ground landing on the front w the upper mass back on the backswing lets the hands come down correctly. With out that u have to slide tilt stand up and when done with force no amount of jiggering the wrist angle will fix it because your body knows u will hurt yourself

I really needed to see these couple of last lessons with Dana, thank you guys so much! My biggest light bulb was the last vid where Jerome mentioned about the connection in the body when you shut the face at downswing it makes you push your lead hip back and with more planted trail those will cure that ever so nasty early extension! And this vid is the perfect sequel to that when I could not get it to work with my woods & driver! btw Jerome is really good at shallowing the club as to me his hands are really high in the backswing like way over the head line but it does not cause him to go over the top out to in path so the hips are actually working quite well!

Dana and My pro have been sharing this info for years. Jerome, when you get comfortable with swinging the Pelvis via the ribcage into the opposed Right Femur your world will open up to you. I tell people to Draft the Right in and behind the Left. If you un-weight your left heel and you allow your Right Glute fall toward the Left Heel as it seeks the target you will have it all. Keep going, this will be good.

I was wondering why Jerome never plays in local competitions, doesn’t have a hcp or plays with anybody else like any new, ambitious golfer would do. And this after 1.5 years into the project. Instead this strange focus on having as many coaches as possible from all over the country, “give-aways” to grow the subscriber base, clickbait titles etc. Now with the app/academy announcement, this finally makes sense.
@xiHasMilkx
@xiHasMilkx Месяц назад
Its a bit of an unfair assessment, i relate in a bit that hes also probably guilty of “playing golf swing” rather than “playing golf”. He knows he isnt good enough to care about a handicap let alone competing in tournaments. So he is obsessed with trying to get the “perfect swing” but hasnt realized the 70year old on course with a shitty swing will outscore him everytime. But also you have to remember youtube business is still a business. Its a lot easier to compete in the teaching space rather than the “playing golf” space of youtube, like he just doesnt have the personality or skills of say good good members or rick shiels or bryan bros to really suceed in a channel where he only plays golf. On top of that tournaments arent free and likely won’t let you film, so its just a bad investment at that point
@FatMaverick
@FatMaverick Месяц назад
@@xiHasMilkx Fair points. However, if you’re really serious about that scratch project, you’d at least have hcp after 18 months. Here in Europe, there are lots of local 9 and 18 hole comps for all levels and hcp, and the cost is insignicant, apart from the green fee. And I don’t expect him to film everything. These lesson videos look like he’s just going through the motions to put out content (and now promote the app), and this one here is gives almost depressing vibes. Even Dana seems to be annoyed by the indifference after every swing.
@xiHasMilkx
@xiHasMilkx Месяц назад
@@FatMaverick its actually interesting you brought up Europe, because rick shiels in a podcast also had that same culture shock that people in the US mostly don’t keep a handicap. Its actually pretty significant percentage compared to Europe where almost everyone has a handicap. Partly is because it really doesnt matter unless youre competing, but also any modern app you track your scores with will give you the same handicap And as someone from california, it isn’t cheap here, my local muni golf course charges $60 just for greenfee, and even small local tournaments are $300+ just for registration, thats not even considering nicer courses, i’d imagine its the same for him in LA area. So probably around the same price just to get a lesson vs going to a tournament, where only one of those makes him money. All the coaches have gotten frustrated with him on this channel if you noticed, its because he has a severe severe severe case of overthinking everything instead of keeping it simple like the coaches want him to be. As soon as he figures out he needs to think less and feel more, i think he’ll make massive gains. I mean dude practices on driving ranges 5hours a day everyday to the point of injury, he needs to spend that 5hours on course lol

I usually don't comment or question but im on the fence about unsubscribing soon. Its cool that youre creating a golf tech company, but i came to this channel to see you grow as a golfer and take high quality golf lessons. My questions are: before each shot, what are your expectations? How are you envisioning the shot going before you address the ball? Do you know your natural shot shape? It's becoming less and less fun to watch these vids because you react very negatively to every single shot. But like i asked before, what are you expecting? A dead straight shot that lands within millimeters of your target? The pros don't even do that. The best players ever to play the game have a shot shape. A fade or draw. They also miss more than you'd think. Some of Tiger's greatest highlights are of him recovering from a previously missed shot. Youve made great strides, and i do appreciate the insight from your pro coaches like Dana. I just wish you were actually enjoying the journey. I mean, Dana, a pro, is telling you that youre hitting good shots. He's been saying that for several months now and you're still surprised lol Anyway, its nothing personal, and i truly hope that you're doing well IRL, but i really wish you'd master your emotions a little better. Youre hitting better shots than some people who've played for several decades. Temper your expectations. Golf is probably one of the most difficult sports to be even somewhat good at. Wishing you the best, but ive got about one or two more vids in me before i call it quits. You probably dont care, but i wanted to give my honest opinion

Jerome you gotta work on confidence. 20:40 you couldn’t have hit the ball better and you swing the club down in defeat and reach for the next ball. Your entire scratch journey is to hit that type of shot and you weren’t even satisfied!

Been following this same swing pattern from Dana for quite some time. Some of the questions you ask are very valid regarding hand movements and release. What I have recently learned is that if you think of your arms as soft, like noodles, in transition and just rotate your ribcage with proper wrist angles, without a force to hit, your arm movement questions will make more sense. There is a guy on RU-vid who details this swing pattern in an amazing way in a 9 min video. I never understood the soft arms, but now I do. Can you have Dana talk specifically about this concept? Your swing is coming along nicely.

Man, watch the ball until it lands. You hit a lot of good shots and you react like you shanked it or hit it fat. If its in the air, watch what it does. Make it a habit. Dragging another ball when the one you just hit hasnt even reached its apex means you aren't learning anything. I feel like you are so concerned with it being right that you are forgetting you have to eventually play golf. You have to start connecting the feel of your swing with what happens to the ball so you know where to aim (what does your ball flight typically do) and how to adjust when you hit a bad shot.

One of the reasons golf is so difficult, and the main reason promising people wash out of going pro. Putting is not good enough. A well-known fact. though you must get your GIR up to a point whereas good putting matters. Your long game is coming along nicely. When it comes, to putting I think one must develop an individual putting methodology.

Don't be a Ben Hogan - constantly seeking perfection. You need to adjust your attitude. Even the pros only hit the green in regulation 60-70% of the time. As Dana says "Now that you can play a draw consistently you should be able to eliminate half the fairway and aim to the right side". Then let the ball draw across the fairway from right to left. Don't forget to tee off on the left side of the tee box. You should be breaking 80 consistently - assuming you keep working on your improved short game.

You are a lot better than you think you are. I know you want to be better and get better fast and you are a perfectionist but dont be so irrational about it. Define a couple of key things that will improve your swing and just work at it. The best in the world have that certain swagger, they arent out there searching and searching, they know their swing and know they are freaking great. You should feel that way too even though you havent played even remotely close to how much they have. You dont have to do that searching or be so dissatisfied all the time. Let yourself enjoy it. It honestly makes it a little bit difficult to watch if you constantly "complain" about something in a way. And i'm being completely honest about this only because you are way too hard on yourself.

And by the way one of the key points should definitely be the backswing. Then maybe also your set up and then the downswing pelvis rotation thing. Thats it. If something goes wrong sometimes, just keep doing those things better instead of trying something new. You will never learn anything otherwise.
@JT________________
@JT________________ Месяц назад
But your irrational perfectionism is definitely costing you. From 43:00 on when you start talking about the face again, your worry has no basis in what the ball is actually doing. Its causing you to lose focus on what you should be doing and just makes you more stressed in general.
@JT________________
@JT________________ Месяц назад
Then you go on again at 46:10 even though you hit it great. You again analyze something, for no reason at all try to do something better and it literally doesnt even cross your mind that you hit the best shot of your life.

I'm commenting as I'm watching this. At 48:32 you start talking about your driver. Like you would have a problem with it. This has got to change. It makes it so hard to watch. You just hit high draws and you know what you need to work on so that it doesnt overdraw and you have a problem with your driver. C'mon man.

Your swing is fine to be shooting low 80s. It’s about your short game and putting. You need a playing lesson so the coach can see why you aren’t scoring (not picking right target for your pattern, bad shot decision making, etc)

His arm action was pretty good with the driver. When he got to his irons his arm action was not good. That happens sometimes when you stress hips. I personally prefer a quiet body and drive arms past it. If you keep fairly square chested at impact you can develop better timing and consistency. But what do I know.

@@JeromeRufin this is the third lesson I've watched you take with Dana and the amount I've absorbed watching these is unparalleled. The way he explains hip flexion was a major light bulb moment. Taken countless lessons and watched hundreds of videos - but through his explanation I finally get it. I was externally rotating my femur losing all power and getting out of position versus pushing my pelvis into it to create torque. We'll see if it translates to the course, but at least I now know the feel. Thank you guys!

There's so many of your drives where you are stepping out and can't hold your finish. Maybe slow down your swing and keep your balance. 100% power means you swing as hard as you can while keeping your balance and holding your follow through. The fact that you can't hold your finish and quickly reach for a new ball is pretty telling.

@floater156
@floater156 Месяц назад
There is absolutely no way he will hit the ball well thinking about his body in the swing. The body will naturally react properly if the club is swung correctly, which is a simple throwing motion. Try literally throwing your club at the target and your body will react correctly. All this technical focus on what the body does is so harmful to his development of a natural and repeatable swing. These coaches he is working with are scary bad. Maybe they are helpful for a PGA pro, but for people like us they are hurtful.

Jerome you finally look like a golfer! I’ve been following you since the beginning and I’ve been on a very similar path in terms of swing mechanics progression. Dana is phenomenal so thanks to both of you. Some people don’t like getting “in the weeds” as much but I love it! Everything he said in this lesson pertains to my current issues. 90% of my practice time is with a pitching wedge so I can work on these nuts and bolts issues. When I progress to my longer clubs, I start to lose my swing. I think I can help you with one word…BALANCE. Check the 30 min mark of this video as an example. You were falling forward after your swing several times. All the mechanics that Dana talks about are perfect. Trust your swing but concentrate on your balance which will mean shifting your weight to be more centered over your feet. You know you have it when you can finish your driver swing like Rory. I never understood how he was able to finish like that until I worked on my balance. Try it and see if you can finish your swing like a statue. Balance will correct your face issues as long as you can pivot properly in your follow through. Just one other thought for you. Rhythm! You mentioned it during this video. You slowed down and man what a difference it made in your swing. You can’t have rhythm without proper technique. Now that you understand the technique, keep it simple with rhythm and balance. Your scores are ready to be tumbling once you can rely on this swing and get your head out of it.

Dana is not looking at the result of the shot. He’s looking at Jerome’s swing and whether or not he’s doing what’s being asked. The pull is a simple fix independent of the issue currently being worked on. One thing at a time.

@@rpmfoto don’t suppose you know that fix ? I dearly love to apply to my game. All I see is left , left and yes you guessed it !! More left
@rpmfoto
@rpmfoto Месяц назад
@@DIOS10 There are a couple things that help me. One of them Dana was addressing in this lesson. The follow through pivot will square the face without being overly handsy. It seems counterintuitive but it works. The other thing is to address the ball with your right forearm facing forward more than you normally do. That means your right hand will join your left at the club slightly under the club if that makes sense. Concentrating on keeping that right elbow tucked during the downswing eliminates the pull shot. Would love to hear Dana’s take on what I’ve said to see if he considers this BS.
