if for some reason this was the last film i ever made, i think i’d be content with that. maybe that sounds extremely morbid but episode 5 definitely has a darker/heavier energy than the rest of the series. it doesn’t even feel like an episode of BORDERLESS to me - this story really speaks for itself i think or at least hope it was able to distinguish its own vibe while simultaneously correlating with the rest of the videos. from the unsettling shots on the bridge, to even just sitting in the middle of the road lighting a birthday cake, i think it shows there can be beauty even in life’s eerie events/scenes. or at least i just love how blissful yet unsettling some of the shots feel. i was heavily influenced by The End Of The F***ing World - that show has such an uneasy energy to it yet it’s a cinematic masterpiece. it’s like oddly beautiful. overall, id definitely say seeing this episode come to life helped me process the daunting inevitability of death. it’s just always been odd to me how rare we as humans actually talk about dying… obviously it’s a very scary and complex topic but maybe without death, life wouldn’t mean anything. as a viewer, im genuinely intrested to know how you interpreted this film? how did it make you feel? i tried to create some symbolisms / little hidden messages, so let me know if anyone picked up on anything :)

I definitely agree with you, it has a darker feel. I myself also have a fear of death , even with wildlife and nature. I have developed Seasonal depression over the years so at around this time every year I feel a major sense of loneliness and depression due to the changing temperatures, changing leaves, etc. Natalie, you have always been so mature with your film making as someone who has been a viewer for 2 years now. I love your philosophy and I hope you enjoy van life and life altogether, you and your friend.

This was by far my fav film of yours. I loved the eerie vibe and aesthetic. Throughout the film, I got the impression that living≠existing and living>existing. I LOVED the bit at the beginning with old voice recordings and clips. AMAZING. I really hope my life is as full of life as yours is. Keep adventuring Natalie :)

I do believe death gives meaning to life. Every single moment of pain, sorrow, happiness, despair, etc. They create our stories, our memories. I think this is your most deeply-rooted philosophical film yet! It conveys every piece of emotion that a person would have when and if they question the very essence of life/death. I will always remember this quote I heard somewhere, "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened..." But to truly accept this message deep down we have to love it. "Amor Fati" (Love Everything That Happens).

Natalie choosing to show the shot of blowing out the candle for a second time at 14:57 was genius. It gave the shot a whole new meaning. Its not about the birthday, the light of the candle going out represents death, and Natalie celebrating represents how she accepted death. Incredible video as always :)

Her death opened my eyes because we are so young, and I guess life felt infinite before I lost her. Every day is hard but we have to learn from their loss and rememebr that at the end of it all there is nothing so why not do everything with what we have. i know your pain and it will never leave, again I am very sorry. The man was created in the IMAGE OF GOD: Genesis 9:6 | View whole chapter | See verse in context Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. Genesis 1:27 | View whole chapter | See verse in context So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. GOD = SPIRIT + SOUL + BODY = ALL 3 SPIRITUAL. (100% spirit being). MAN = SPIRIT + SOUL + BODY = 2 parts spiritual (everlasting) 1 part carnal for a little time. not yet fully spiritual, for our bodies are still mortal /carnal, but soon: 1 Corinthians 15:53 | View whole chapter | See verse in context For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Matthew 22:30 | View whole chapter | See verse in context For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. If being in gender : male and female = the image of GOD, then the verse: Matthew 22:30 - this verse, clearly says: gender shall be lost, for there is no need for it any more. Life last forever, no ageing, no marring, no need to multiply. No longer point of being male or female. Therefore, those who claim, that being a baphomet is the true image of GOD (baphomet is the image of the false god, the devil), you all going to lose the image of the god then. But then again, all those who serve the baphomet, who is the beast, they shall not be in heaven nor shall they inherit the new earth, for them only HELL AND THE LAKE OF FIRE, SHALL BE THEIR FOREVER HOME.(full of torment). Now we should ask a question here: as we know, that SPIRIT is neither male nor female, therefore the last words in the verse: GENESIS 1:27? - the answer: TO MULTIPLY. If GOD didn`t add genders: male and female, HE /GOD Himself would have then need to created second by second the same creation: man, from dust again and again. There would have been no point for that, therefore HE added genders: male and female, so we, His perfect creation; mankind could mange to multiply itself/ourselves. We must study the BIBLE also, not just read but to study it too, for to realise and understand the truthful and real meaning behind a single word in the biblical text. But if we misread the verse: GENESIS 1.27 - then we do read out that the image of GOD is male and female together, giving us the baphomet, the image of the false god, the devil So, are you studing the bible also or just read it and end up misreading it all the time? Please souls, study the BIBLE - the living word of the living GOD, it is 100% accurate about the lives we live and about the place we live these.

This was awesome. I’m turning 30 next year and a lot of this light-hearted energy you have as a child has been peeled off already by my growing sense of responsibility for my own life and my wish for financial independence. I feel quite pathetic for not having achieved it, yet, at times, and it preys on my mind. It’s good to be reminded to embrace life on the way so I don’t lose all the joy and turn into that harsh and lonely adult that I never wanted to become. Otherwise, I might just suddenly die one day, still chasing the illusion that I’m not where I want to be, while in reality I was just blind to the fact that I had it all and accidentally sacrificed it on my way.

If you die tonight, do you know where you're going? Did you know that Jesus Christ is THE only way to Heaven? Revelation 20:15 ''Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.'' Through Jesus Christ, God offers you a FREE gift - forgiveness. All you need to do is repent, turn away from your sins and evil ways, from now on put your faith completely in Jesus Christ and be obedient to Him. Biblical explanation of the Gospel: God doesn’t want anybody in hell, but you must understand why we deserve hell and why those who refuse to live under His authority will go there. He gave us the law (Ten Commandments) not to make us righteous, but rather to show us our sin (Romans 3:20). God gave us free will and since Adam sinned in the garden, sin is the nature of our flesh and we ALL have sinned. (Romans 3:23) The law demands death to those who sin (Romans 6:23). Since we have all sinned, we all deserve hell. Revelation 21:8 says that all liars will go to hell. Yes, even if you have lied once in your life, you are sentenced to hell - that's how high God's standards are of moral perfection because God is holy and righteous, there is not one sin in Him. For someone to be justified before holy God they have to be sinless, that's why everyone need Jesus Christ - for He lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day. None of us are good in God’s eyes, because for God good means moral perfection. We all have broken God’s commandments, we all have sinned in our lives so none of us are good. ‘’For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.’’ (James 2:10). Our carnal mind is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's moral law and it never will (Romans 8:7). We hate the thought of God for the same reason a criminal hates a policeman - we know we have sinned against God and are guilty of it and we don't want to be damned. No good works will ever save you. You can't earn salvation by good works, because God will judge us for our sin. Good News is that Jesus Christ lived a perfect, holy, sinless life and He died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried and He was raised from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.’’ (John 3:16) We aren’t saved by our good works, but only by the grace of God through faith in Christ. ''For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Jesus said ‘’it is finished’’ (John 19:30) just before He died on the cross, which means He paid the fine for our sins (past, present, future) to be forgiven only IF we repent and trust in Him. This is how you can get saved from sin and hell - repent of your sins and trust in Jesus Christ. Get to know Him by reading God's Word. So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” (Luke 11:13) ''What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!'' (Romans 6:15) ''Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out'' (Acts 3:19) Repentance is a turning away from sin and all evil works, and it always results in changed behavior (Luke 3:8). Biblically, a person who repents does not continue willfully in sin. While sorrow from sin is not equivalent to repentance, it is certainly an element of scriptural repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10). Do not play a hypocrite. ''God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.'' (1 John 1:5-6) (John 3:3) Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." If you have repented and have genuine faith in Jesus Christ then you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit and be born-again spiritually. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession - to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (John 3:36) ''You will know them by their fruits'' (Matthew 7) If you have been truly born-again with the Holy Spirit and He has regenerated your heart, you will desire righteousnes - to do what is good and righteous in God's eyes, to seek God everyday in His Word and prayer, to strengthen your relationship with God. You will no longer desire to willfully continue living in sin but will want to obey God out of your love for Him because of His amazing grace revealed to us through the death and resurrection of His Son. ''Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.'' (2 Corinthians 5:17) ''For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.'' (Eph 2:10) You will have a testimony - of what your life had been before and how has it changed now when you have surrendered it to Lord Jesus Christ. As a declaration and affirmation of your faith in Jesus Christ, get baptised in water because He commanded us to do so. In John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.'' ''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'' (Matthew 28:19) ''Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.'' (Acts 2:41) ''And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body, but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God - through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,'' (1 Peter 3:21) ''We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.'' (Romans 6:4) ''Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.'' (Colossians 2:12) Please get right with God and get to know Jesus Christ personally today before it’s too late, because there’s not much time left! "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.’’ (Mark 13:32) Get to know Christ through God's Word - Bible. At first I recommend reading Gospel of John and book of Romans. God bless you! Jeremiah 29:13 - ''You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.''

Dude I thought 40 was like REALLY OLD when I was young, but here I am, still feeling 25 in my head. But seeing how you are living your life and going on adventures and igniting that feeling of being a child again has got me thinking. When I watch you, I see my younger self. I miss that person. When did I become so adult like and serious? I have 2 small kids and I almost feel like im that parent that I had growing up. I want to be living and experiencing life through their eyes. Not through mine. I need to relive those times again. Adulting is fucking hard and overwhelming sometimes, but remembering who you are and why you are here and knowing that tomorrow you could literally fall over and die is enough to make me wake up again. So thank you for the reminder. You are super talented by the way, I love your creativity, humour and depth in your videos :)

As a 21-year-old this is def a feeling that is valid. When I turned 20 it was a really weird feeling because you're not technically a teen but also you won't feel like a full adult. The feeling will set in tbh, it will feel like nothing and the phrase of "age is just a number" will be more true because you will meet people older or younger who are on the same wavelength as you or life situation. You'll meet people who are the same age but have a family or a successful relationship, this will be the age where you start to question your life progress as well. One thing I learnt from 1 year of being in my 20s is that 'you have to celebrate yourself, and don't let the background noises distract you' , one thing that I'm learning is to live life on my terms. As you approach your 20s you'll see more contrast between people who have a successful career or relationships, or even privileges, and it will take a lot of self power to not compare yourself. I still struggle with it but one thing that you have an advantage of is you have way more life experience, you have experienced life differently to those who stayed in Uni or stayed at home with their parents and that will get you ahead self-development and fulfillment wise.

Honestly one of the only truly unique RU-vidrs. The way you convey story through your editing. This isn’t vlogging. This is true, raw, filmmaking. At 20 years old to have this talent. The jealousy in me is unbelievable but is made better by how much joy each and every one of your videos gives me. I wish I could tell myself 10 years ago to go out and find adventure. It;s never too late to start living. I am terrified of death. But I’m hoping to live enough that it’s a peaceful goodbye with a smile on my face.

I think this is an absolutely wonderful series and a phenomenal video, whether it is part of the series or not. The mood, the editing, the music, the narration, just everything is perfect! I've always thought I'm not afraid to die, but after watching this episode, my mind tells me something else. I'm not scared of dying because I've been waiting for it to happen. I'm not feeling fully alive because I keep waiting to die instead of looking for reasons to keep me feeling alive. This episode made me rethink what I should do while I'm here; alive and breathing. Thank you, Natalie, for contributing to my reasons to feel alive.

I am 20 this year. Either feeling confused or upset about the choices I made and going to make, I found a scary fact that it seems not too many things can make me laugh, laugh desperately, madly, and sincerely like I used to. My parents and friends said they hope me to still be that happy, positive and passionate me. I started to know natalie's short film from that LA trip vlog with jared several years ago, natalie indeed somewhat change how I perceived the world around me, inspiring me to find everything beautiful around me and record the valuable moments in my life. I think I still do not have a clear answer to my current state, hope I could find it soon since I plan to read books (about the meaning of life and the meaning of love) lol. But thanks for sharing your moments of life with us natalie, and hope everyone can get better and happier.

This struck a chord with me. I am 20 now and have felt like I haven't grown up enough. I'm constantly stressed about the future and setting myself up for success. Everyone seems to have great expectations of me. Because of that, I have just been disappointing myself trying to meet those expectations and have gained the mindset that I'll never be good enough. It has caused me to go down a mental spiral of self-hatred, self-pity, anxiety, and insecurity. I have been searching for something to help me including constantly watching self-improvement videos or cleaning every inch of my house. I have been trying to figure out what I want my future to look like and what career I want to pursue even though I am not sure what I am interested in at all. I'm trying to do everything I possibly can to feel some sense of stability. But this video made me realize that stability is not living. I don't have to have my life together at 20. Most people our age don't anyway. I am going to die someday, maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe when I am as old as dirt. But if I knew I was going to die today and looked back on everything I have done in my life, I would be completely disappointed in myself. I have sacrificed so much time into becoming someone I "needed" to be instead of appreciating who I truly am now. I may hate myself more than anyone else in this world but if I continue on the path of trying to "fix" myself, it isn't going to get any better. I want to be proud that I did that crazy thing I have never done before. I want to laugh about the time I almost died. I want to cherish that moment in time that will never happen again. I may never become that stable person with a successful career that makes a lot of money and lives in a gorgeous home and raises children with a successful, stable partner who also has their shit together. But starting now, I will do things I am embarrassed about doing. I will take risks that could lead to great things or not-so-great things. At least I will be able to look back fondly on my life and say that I have lived.

These past few months I've come to actually see how fragile life is. My brother was involved in an accident and got a pretty servere brain injury at just 16 years old. It was nothing but an accident and it was terrifying. Seeing him hours before his accident then to seeing him in the hospital and thinking I may never hear his voice again. He is okay, and is out of the hospital now and we celebrated his 17th birthday just a month ago, a birthday we didn't think he was going to get. Your videos are one of a kind and are such a true inspiration to me and many others, you have a true talent. Of all the technologies and aids, RU-vid is my favourite. You see and learn so much, I'm 35 years old and this RU-vid taught me that it's okay to live "differently" without harming anyone and that we don't have to do anything bad to anyone. And then you see such young and talented people and admire their taste for life, how they think about death so young. When I was 20 years old, I was more or less thinking about whether I would have anything to eat today, and that was a period of my life where a person matures and learns a lot. Death is not to be feared in my opinion, at least I had one occasion to see it with my own eyes and I survived. When they asked me if you were scared, I said I didn't have time, I just left and you don't even know you left, everything happens so fast. Live as you can, don't harm others!

there are two quotes that I remember while watching this "some things are more precious because they don't last long" by Oscar Wilde and, "Does it matter? If life is enjoyable, does it have to make sense?". I'm out of words Natalie, i honest think this is one of your best videos so far, in every sense- you've captured what is like to fear death but also how it is to truly live, because I think the majority of us just exist but you, you are living a true life, and that's a ridiculously hard (and easy) thing to do. this film is inspiring, truly.

The way you talk about death; it's an important theme, but it seems to be a tabù and it's rarely talked about. The scenes on the bridge left me without breath, watching them made me think "wow, this is shots are so beautiful" while I also felt a shiver. Such movies, pictures, videos are the things that remind me from time to time what life is about, not fitting in, not doing the basics that everybody does, not just focusing on the way we look or what others will think of us, we are meant to be free, to feel good and comfortable with every decision and to reach for the stars. "If we spend our entire lives fearing death, we may never understand what it's like to truly be alive" I love how your films explore the dichotomy of life's circumstances, it leads us on a journey that explores the imperfect path we are on and thematically addresses (if implicitly at times) that we cannot truly appreciate life's highs without the lows. I laughed out loud!! I remember when in the video "why I didn't go to college this year" you mention that eventually you will end up in college or going to film school... while watching this I thought, "she better go to film school as the instructor!" Sending you much love, and keep doing you and creating whatever and whenever because it is fantastic! ON THE TOPIC OF DEATH: I am twice your age, and as they say soon to be "over the proverbial hill", when you really think about it, it means that now I am supposed to be counting down the days ... but you know what? Fuck that! I am still living life and I decided a long time ago that I will not just be sitting there and waiting. I always thought that we can "go" anytime, whether you are peacefully watching TV, or bungee jump of a bridge. It's a state of mind, just like age is. I also believe many of us including myself are not persee afraid of dying, but more on HOW we die, questions such as "will there be pain", "will I see those around us suffer because of it", "will it be quick and painless"... but for now, I am enjoy every single breath and even the most mundane things in the end are special and beautiful!
