Congratulations Dad, you found something you love and you got after it and made it work. You’ve always been the best example of what work ethic really means. I remember as a kid visiting all the job sites, seeing equipment, or watching you plow snow, going to build decks with you. I remember it all and never fully understood it until I had a family of my own and had to provide for them. Never once heard you complain about having to drive 10 hours, or when you were just about to get some rest then getting a call to have to go plow snow. Thank you for it all. We are all excited for what is to come next and here to help. -Second son Levi

Levi, beautiful words for the "old" young man! Parents think when the kids are small they don't remember much but to their surprise they do. Been watching this channel for a few years, my wife always knows what I'm watching hearing Mike and Melissa's voice. Hard work and good work ethic is starting to be rare now a days, glad to see Mike move onto the next chapter in his life and the recognition you gave them reassures them they raised y'all right! Congrats!

Could NOT be happier for you! I'm also 54, and have been "retired" for 4 yrs. I worked for "the man" since getting out of school, finally reached the end of my rope with that, started my own company, grew it, became the top company in our line of work, then got sick and tired of dealing with the govt.....and pulled the ejection cord at 50. In 10 yrs of owning company, never had an employee quit, never fired one, never laid off, and grew it from 6 people to 30 people. Everybody says "you're gonna miss it", "you're gonna get bored", "You'll regret it". Let me tell you, I don't, I haven't, and I only regret not doing it sooner. Loved the work, loved all the guys and the fun we had, etc...., but I have never looked back. I'm so busy at our cabin property all the time, I'm not sure how I ever kept up with it WHILE working. I could see your exit coming, and the day you got the excavator, I knew it was on the horizon. Between the projects you had going, and the ones you must have in mind to commit to that, plus all the other stuff, plus how you and Melissa have mentioned how last year affected and helped Hunter and his schedule, etc....it was obvious work was only slowing you down and holding back progress. You're not going to regret this one bit, neither is Melissa. Your whole family just took a giant LEAP in a good direction. And BTW, once I got out of office and set sail on my own projects and schedule full time, I dropped 40 lbs, am in the best shape I've been in since High School, and am so much more happy, and less grumpy....it's been a literal Life Changer. You'll see. Best of luck and Congratulations!

Mike..Melisa..I started following you about a year ago. I admire all you have done. I’m retired now, still push a big rig down the road on a dedicated route now. I’ve had a lot of fun out here, but dealing with the man for so many years..going on 35 years out here now..and crazy drivers out here, I’m getting tired my friend. I’ve been in the military, out after 13 years, been in the Sherrif’s dept( 5years) int the fire service(9) years, became a state certified fire fighter 1, first responder and hazardous materials Incident Commander. I’ve had a good life, met many friends! I related to your life of hard work and values, I was taught them early in life. I had two major fires in my life, one @12 years ago that nearly destroyed my life. Lost nearly everything. I’ve recovered my life mostly, lost a lot of friends and my marriage. Now I’m single, live a quiet life in central Maine. I think the world of you folks, and one day hope to get a chance to shake your hand. I’m writing this to you in 2022, in October, a year after I lost my dad. So Mike, Melisa, Eva and Hannah..God bless you folks. I’ll keep watching you when you release your content for sure! Take care and stay safe bud! Rick from Maine.🙏✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Good for you brother; I’m happy for you both. Her faithfulness in handling the family so that you could go out and provide is immeasurable. Having served a quarter century as a Marine Officer, I can tell you that my wife and our three daughters are my heroes and I couldn’t be 1/5th who I am or have accomplished a bit of what I have in life with purpose without them. The only thing my wife asked of me over our time in the Corps, was that this last move was our last one. Though a traumatic brain injury was what ended my career, what it did give me was a new life at home with my family. I love and hate retirement both, but I’m grateful for each day I have. God Bless you all!

Excited Mike and Melissa for your new journey! I spent 22 years in the military and I know what you mean by being on the road while Melissa is raising the family. You definitely made the right decision in my opinion. Ok I always liked your videos when I started my journey after buying my 1st tractor two years ago. To be honest I had questions and you never answered them when I needed them answered, so I stopped watching your channel since I found others who could answer. I will visit more now... Mike you and I are the same age and I grew up in Carlisle. Maybe someday Ann and I could meet you and your awesome family. I love your property. Keep on keeping brother. Oh and you can just share videos about your funny experiences working as a blaster. Don’t think you always need to be working in a video. Enjoy being a family man and just be honest about life. Most people just need to hear good news and normal life these days. Cheers Dan and Ann from TN.

Congrats on having the courage and confidence to venture out whole heartedly into a occupation you really look forward to doing every day!!! Very similar background to yours getting into construction right out of high school. A bit more "structured" than yours once I was accepted into the IBEW at age 21. Did, and enjoyed, that for 39 years and, like you, always had the "side hustle" going. In my case, that "hustle" was the residential rental market. Right around 45 years of that as we speak. Again, like you, that "side hustle" has carried over past retirement and now provides the bulk of our income. One thing I will "predict" and caution. Having been retired now for 18 years, I would suggest/caution you will find yourself much "busier" and short of time instead of the opposite. I have come to believe that is because people like us (you and me) NEED to be busy and productive so we "refuse" to turn away from challenges or responsibilities. Given that "extra" 50 hours every week, you will be much more likely to say "SURE" every time a new "opportunity" arrises. GOOD LUCK!!!! 👍🛠⚙️

Glad I just happened across your channel. I was pushed out in 2017, and that was not at all fun, nor was most of what lead up to it....however, finding the bright side of life is a habit, and there is another habit that has always been present, I love people, and I look forward to engaging with my friends, and did have a global audience as I acted as a brand ambassador for an empowerment company. I have a few freinds that do travel by private jet many of the places they are needed to be present at, and often, they are the most thoughtful, kindest people I know, and I do know many kind people, but my perception does help with this perception, without people, this would be one boring place, in my opinion.....and I didn't hear you mention live streaming....you may wish to consider this, it is something that has far more to offer, something you will only discover by engaging in one...I do not miss having to show up for work..there are many times I miss the extra money though, so working alternate streams, and also, please remember that no matter what happens, to take it easy on you.

Congrats Mike... Well deserved... Just retired myself after 40 years... (age 62).. Have so enjoyed being able to work on things around the lake house (where we can spend more time now). Tomorrow going to Home Depot to rent a log splitter to finally get to the many rounds around the property that have been sitting for too long. I will be leveraging all the skills I have learned from you and your videos... Look forward to many more... Congrats...

Problem is.....to many people took that literally and the rest of us are having to subsidize their living since they are trying to live as underwater basket weavers.

The part that sucks about being retired, is you don't get any days off anymore. Enjoying it is now your job. You are now the boss of Mike Inc!!!!! Congrats on you both and may this be the start of a new adventure. Love you guys. ☺
