"The rich have to give money to the poor" Great idea. Take away someone's hard earned money because they committed the crime of working hard to get ahead
itabtoo "Just shut up and educate yourself" Wow, that's literally the most perfect rebuttal to an argument I've ever heard, you actually just decimated my whole argument in one ad hominem attack. Never mind actually refuting my point, or telling me what you actually think is wrong with my logic. Robert Mitchell Because rich people don't do hat already? Bill Gates gives up 50% of his annual income to charity. Forcing people into giving their money away simply because they have more is called socialism, and it is wrong. Go have a look at how well literally every communist regime has turned out.
Christa Robnik thanks for taking the bait, i just don't want to write unnecessarily long walls of text without your attention. first off: why should socialism be wrong? (where do you come from btw, my guess would be the US, becasue that's the ultimate coutry where you're conditioned from birth to fear socialism) as an economic system, it's just as legitimate as (neo)liberalism etc. (in a democratic state that is). second: the point is, without redistribution of wealth (omg, BRUN THE COMMUNIST PIG), wealth accumulates withing the small percentage of super-rich people, more and more over time, to the extend that you can no longer get rich through hard work. those already rich just get richer (they let their money "work for them", meaning they invest, speculate etc.). the romantic stories about rags to riches are just that, fairy tales from the early 20th century. before you get goosebumps in fear of getting all your money stolen by the state, by rich i do no mean "i can buy miself a car and a house and not drown in loan", or "i run a small to medium-sized business and can pay my workers adequately", when people say rich they may mean different things, but i don't even talk about a lousy million or two, by rich i mean people with dozens of millions and more (their private wealth that is, not their companies money of course), what do you even do with amounts of money like that? sure the living standard also has limits somewhere beyond a few millions, in what way would it actually hurt not to have that money (what you most likely didn't even earn yourself, but through inheritance and speculation/investment)?
itabtoo omg thanks 4 da bait le troll master 9001. No, I'm not American, I'm Australian (not that nationality should even affect the validity of an argument in any way). Are you completely dense? Socialism is completely immoral. How would you feel if you were eating your lunch, and a group of guys came up to you, stuck guns in your face and said "You have to give half your sandwich to that guy over there, he couldn't be bothered getting a job so he can't afford his own food". Socialism is THEFT. Being rich and earning vast amounts of wealth is not a crime. It sounds to me like you're a bit jealous, and resent anyone who succeeds in life or is born with advantages you don't have. That's pretty much the whole premise of socialism and communism; "Wahhh! Mummy he has candy and I want candy! Make him give me some!" Get off your ass and fucking work for the things you want in life, stop expecting handouts and wanting the bullying force that is the government to take some of what others have earned to give to you. Again; redistribution of wealth is theft. If you support socialism, you basically share the same mindset of a jealous toddler.
