8:22 Honestly, as a person who brews... I rly wanna try this brew of yours heh. The aroma/flavour notes sound perf to me and its a dark sweet ale as well. The off notes may sound like a bad thing just like the cloudy colour... But some folks like both those things; as theyre just naturally what happens. The cloudyness can be mostly removed with a single tablet that clears it up, but some haziness can be nice; at least in my opinion as a gal who used to love hefeweizens when i drank specifically bcuz when makin it they intentionally leave some of the dead yeast in which both makes it cloudier and adds "off" notes that i find very nice. As much as ya screwed up parts you still made a grt brew imho and thats actually one of the things i love about brewin; you can screw up a lot and you can do things wrong or just forget steps even and still end up with a palatable drink in the end. Sure it may not be exactly what you were goin for, but its still highly drinkable, esp to the right person. And if ya do make swill, just freeze it to remove more and more of the water from it and then mix that more concentrated alcohol in with some juice flavours and you end up with a delish wine cooler nonetheless.

9:20 You actually chose the right glass i feel xD Your drink has many notes similar to a hefeweizen and you chose a weizen glass. And does the glass matter? Yeah actually it kinda does... Ask wine snobs some time and theyll explain how different glasses are ideal for different wines and you can notice things like certain glsss designs complement certain aspects of certain drinks. Its very minor tho and mostly to do with aroma. Tho the weizen glass is partially designed as it is so that leftover yeast is more likely to settle at the bottom of the glass and not come up to your lips as you drink it. Also the top of the glass is designed to keep a better head.

10:38 Naw, homebrewers are extremely popular bcuz we give away our booze bcuz we cant legally sell it xD Im a medieval live action roleplayer and trust me, the homebrewers who bring barrels of brews to campouts are the ones who get folks givin them all sorts of gifts as thanks for providin such a grt service and a bit of fauxthentic flair to the drinkin there :3 I found the same response at conventions too, where the convention partygoers love most the parties that have their own homebrews bcuz its a flavour they cant taste anywhere else. Ofc, this was mostly ciders and meads; which are the drinks that taste the best to the most ppl bcuz they may as well be alcoholic juice heh. But even the beers and ales get plenty of love from folks who want a more classic alcohol taste exp.

@jcneg9226 2 года назад
OMG, you made just about every single newbie mistake possible and then some, LOL!!! Overfilled the pot, and well you know the what resulted, messy floor. Over steeped the grains and well that is half the fun in learning on how to do the job. But the end results once you start to zone in on doing it right, is SOOOOOO WORTH IT!!!! FYI, ABV stands for alcohol by volume, so how strong it is. And IBU, well simply put it stands for how bitter the beer will taste.
@SylviaRustyFae
@SylviaRustyFae 2 года назад
And yeah naw, ya dont want all the flavour notes on the wheel; is entirely personal choice of what flavours you think are desired in the brew you make. Its quite common for a drink to end up with lots of some flavour notes and none of others; not every brew is fruity, spicy, smokey, sour, and sweet after all heh Also, "off" can be good to the right palate. In the same way that burnt flavours can be desirable in some foods.
@t-stashgaming4925
@t-stashgaming4925 2 года назад
If its anything like real brewing you're burning the hell out of your hops. Hops should be steeped at specific temperatures to produce different flavours, and that's very rarely done above 80C. P.s. Good guess on the Citra, it's a staple of IPA's
@SylviaRustyFae
@SylviaRustyFae 2 года назад
More sugar does not mean sweeter beer unless you add enuf sugars to get past the attenuation pt. In most cases, if one wants a sweeter brew theyll backsweeten. Tho im prty sure the sugar youre addin there is to begin to properly carbonate the brew given you are transferrin to a sealed plastic barrel. This wont rly sweeten it either as the sugar you used will all get eaten up by the remainin yeast (even tho when transferrin you leave the bulk of the yeast behind). After the carbonation process you usually add a tablet that stops the yeast fermentation (tho theres other ways to do such too) and then if you want a sweeter brew you may add sugars then. Tho some folks will let it age and then backsweeten it after aging so they can more control the final flavour profile. And plenty of folks dont backsweeten at all.

Omg... This is **exactly** the simulation game ive always wanted xD I love brewing alcohol but see several yrs ago i decided, for very good reason, to quit drinkin and thus theres no real reason for me to brew anymore except if i wanna make a rly fancy vinegar from the booze, or if im makin tinctures (which wud also require me to freeze distill things, which is illegal in most USA states despite it bein not dangerous at all except to the potential health of those who drink the booze (which i cant legally sell without permits and checks and balances)... Not to say i havent dabbled in such tho heh) Brewing alcohol is actually surprisingly easier than it seems, esp compared to how hard it is in Junkyard Trucker cuz youre distillin it too. You can tdchnically and easily make a delish booze in about a month by gettin some unpasteurised apple juice, addin in several cups of sugar, amd a packet worth of bakers yeast. It wont be as grt as a hard apple cider made properly and with good yeast intended for that (altho tbf, thats personal choice; i rly like the earthy and nutty notes that bread yeast brings) but it is truly as simple as mixin that up and cappin it with a balloon that you poke one to three tiny holes in. Again, not as sanitary as the proper methods that use an airlock with water in it which assures that no air can get from outside into the bottle and thus no bacteria (esp moreso, as long as ya change the airlock water like once a week, or as needed as it becomes cloudy) But youre also not investin nearly the same.cost into the brew as you wud for a proper brew; this you can make for around $5 or so, more if you use farmers market apple juice for it (which honestly, do if you can, itll taste even better; bcuz fresher ingredients). I rly hope this game becomes a series, even if a small one, bcuz i feel that brewin is absolutely fascinatin and a rly cool use of practical chemistry in action.

Yeast are indeed a "living thing". Specifically, yeast are a fungus, like mushrooms :3 Yeast are just tiny little fungi that eat sugar for energy and convert it into carbon dioxide and (ethanol) alcohol. In the presence of oxygen tho, they dont produce ethanol and will only produce carbon dioxide and energy from the sugars they eat. Yeast are also **literally everywhere**. And in fact, theyre found in much higher amounts where animals, includin us humans, live. Prty much every surface in your house has yeast livin on it. In fact, the first alcohols were fermented without added yeast but by just lettin wild yeast do their thing; and its most likely thats how humanity discovered alcohol (in multiple different circumstances but all the same general way). The major theory on how is that they were storin grain and it somehow got water in it and then by the next season it had a smell that wud be, well, intoxicatin to us humans bcuz we alrdy been consumin alcohol long before we came down from the trees. Primates have heen known to specifically consume fallen fruit that has begun to rot bcuz it gets them drunk xD So ofc when early humans found a drink that smelled like that fermented fruit, theyd give it a taste and find it to be pleasant and shockingly safe to drink unlike natural water sources cud be at times.

Yo, recommend juices or those flavour extract things if you ever wanna amp.up that stugf to like a jungle juice affair on its own. Also similarly, sub in honey in place of some or all of the sugars and youll find yourself makin mead; its a bit spendier tho you can also just use like 80% (eg 500 grams total, so 400 grams instd) the sugar you wud use and add honey equal to about 25% (So here, around 125 grams; tho you can go more and it will just turn out stronger and more honey flavoured heh; just dont go too high) of the sugar you use. You need to use more honey tho cuz honey doesnt have as much sugar in it, its only about 80% sugars unlike refined sugar; but the remainin 20% is vital nutrients that help the yeast grow big and strong... Oversimplifyin but it def helps the yeast brew better. Similarly folks find lots of raisins and/or citrus peels also help here; tho they provide a relatively small nutrient boost, but the citrus peels also provide a nice citrus note ofc and make use of your orange or lime or lemon or grapefruit peels. I know that may all sound more complicated, but its all prty much the same as what youre doin alrdy but add an extra ingredient and maybe run it thru a strainer/filter if you use citrus peels or raisins. And it rly improves the brew. One more thing that will improve the brew tho is when you pour off the alcohol and have that yeasty stuff left in the bucket; save that stuff for your next batch. It will become better at its job with each brew and also help carry flavour notes from prior brews. Oh, and you can also use that yeasty stuff to make some of the best bread if ya ever wanna dabble in breadmakin. Tho i will say, some other homebrewers wud warn that the yeast shudnt be reused more than 5 or 6 times bcuz it can mutate (which is exsctly what i want with bread yeast bcuz its most likely to mutate into better brewin yeast), but also cuz it increases risks of infection with each batch... But when youre pitchin $5 worth of ingredients its no big deal if one time it gets infected so you just start with a new bread yeast; and honestly if you properly seal it and store it in a fridge and dont let it sit for more than a few weeks before you use it again, you shud be fine and will get better brews as you go. If a brew gets infected you will know. It will either develop very unpleasant (not vinegar tho) aromas or visible discoloration or mold that is not usually present. If it smells vinegary, well shit... Your brew got infected but lucky you, its a not harmful bacteria and just the one that exists to turn alcohol into vinegar xD Ive had this happen to me once and it was the best raspberry tea flavoured vinegar i ever had and i wud totes make again if i knew what caused it xD
@SylviaRustyFae
@SylviaRustyFae 2 года назад
5:30 "Yeast is just yeast" Not by a long margin heh. Brewers have developed thousands, likely tens of thousands or more, of varieties of yeast specific to certain needd. And even beyond that, natural yeast varies a ton from house to house and from region to region; so even before brewers started to select for certain yeast traits they found most preferable, yeast was not at all the same. Yeast as a term is sorta like mushroom as a term; tho not quite as variable. Both are fungi and both come in a plethora of differently evolved forms that suit specific purposes. In fact, theres even some yeast which have evolved to be able to produce alcohol even in aerobic conditions. This is also why sourdough starters vary from region to region and if you take a starter from one region to somewhere else, in time it will naturally begin to develop its own unique mix of regional flavours and other traits. Yeast are awesome imho :3 Heck, all fungi are awesome just bcuz of how alien they can seem compared to plants and animals.

If you ever pick this game back up and get stuck on “An Oresome Brew” quest, just dump some beer out and add water (a sin, I know) to lower the alcohol level.

After ur moonshine venture in junkyard truck, what made u think ud be able to do a brew maker simulation😅 just teasing. Tbh, not a fan of the game. The concept of brewing irl is add an ingredient, wait a while, rinse and repeat. The only real reason ppl do it is for the actual product

Drae needs to try and ferment a beer for a whole year.
@latewizard301

wouldn't really work, yeast is alive and if you brew it for a year the yeast will die, leaving a really off flavour. the game does simulate that even.

As a German living in Bavaria, I approve this as good. But the Reinheitsgebot is missing

As someone who worked for a beer company for many year and know all the term. You throw word like wort make me laugh. Also your beer will be cloudy (clarity)as you don’t have a filtration process to remove the yeast etc from the beer. The undissolved is sugar that has not been eaten by the yeast.

you don't need to have an overall equal taste it's ok to be one sided or another, and hazy isn't bad I've had many hazy ales and such so it's not a bad thing I need this game *looks it up* I've always wanted to brew beers and I'm a fan of craft brews!
