Actually since Marbles was the first to come and the most calm one he was seen as a leader figure by Kermit(who is like, the opposite of a leader), same happened with Peach, you can see in many videos that they respect him with body language and here it reflected better, he also feels superior to them, he showed it by walking fast knowing the others would follow

When I walk my dog he acts like a drunk adult. He trips on everything and nothing at the same time. He pees on everything. He kisses everyone. He passes out in the dirt. And then on top of it all he vomits at the end of it and I end up carrying him home.

i did this with my dog ( a poodle named marshal) and he just wanted to say hello to every living thing he saw. Other dogs, cats, birds, people, that one snake, etc. We were out there for like an hour while my mom was at work and i had the day off. Somehow, despite never walking to the other side of town, marshal made his way to my mom's work be following her scent. i was laughing sooooo hard and i took him to our local ice cream place for a pup cup (a small dish of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream ) He also found his way home with only two detours to go sniff a tree. It was a good day

My dad would walk our dog (golden retriever) the same route every single day for years so if you let him walk you, he'd just take you on that exact walk at a powerwalking/jogging speed (he was a fast boi). And he'd resist you hardcore if you tried to go a different direction than the normal route
