I still can't believe I lied to Imelda Marcos, one of the Philippines most (in)famous and controversial figures in modern Philippine history. The fact that I even got to meet her still shocks me to this day. In this episode of Filipina. American. Creative., I share with you the story of Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos, as well as never-before shared experiences of when I traveled to the Philippines to sing for and meet Imelda Marcos. (And yes, I reveal in detail the lie I told her!)

NAGSINUNGALING AKO kay Imelda Marcos & NAKAKALAYO | A True Account of My Time with a Controversial Filipina
Imelda does NOT have ALL designer shoes. She is a huge supporter of the Philippine shoemakers. So all these people give her shoes. It's like what Oprah does. Any shoes Imelda wears become popular brands. During the Marcos time, our shoe industry was rich and well known. In fact, it has been reported that some Italian Shoe makers would be invited to Marikina for transfer of skills. Imelda is well loved until now. The bad stories about her were propaganda from the Aquino administration. The Marcos family are good people. Beautiful Story though.

America was part of the black propaganda against Marcos and so was Imelda. She was a gem for us Filipinos and don't tell us that she was convicted because she was not. Our company where I worked in the 70s happened to be one of the major contractors for the many projects that Imelda initiated and she was indeed a working first lady. The shoes that most media described as extravagant were gifts from local shoemakers that she promoted on her travels around the world.

I couldn’t agree more. The Marcoses were demonize by almost everyone, but the truth always comes out in the end and it comes out victorious. The Philippines was very highly regarded on the world stage until the Aquinos came along and pretty much drag the entire country into the sewer, dumbed the population, rewrote our beloved country’s history, made themselves heroes, took the country’s resources all for their own personal interest, smeared all Filipinos on world stage, and made us all poor that it forced a lot of us go out the country for work and work as domestic helpers. What they did was unthinkable and degrading to our entire race. But YAHUAH brings justice to all and with His blessings, most Filipinos are waking up to all the lies that have been told. Thank you for sharing your story with our beloved former First Lady. She is the epitome of Grace, class, and kindness. May her examples never die for the next generation to learn from and emulate. ❤

I haven't had the privilege of sitting down at a dinner with Madame Imelda Marcos, but I have served in the office of one of his nephews, Mayor Alfred Romualdez of Tacloban City, and have sat down at a dinner with Mrs. Marcos's daughter, Senator Imee Marcos, when she was still Governor of Ilocos Norte. Senator Imee was gracious and soft-spoken, and you will not at all feel like you need to be on guard with her. She makes you feel like you can just be yourself and at home around her. I assume Senator Imee takes a lot from her mother. That's the incredible thing about that family. They are very classy and dignified, and yet their graciousness and generosity will make the poorest among us feel like they matter. It is an uncanny skill honed to perfection over decades of both public service and diplomatic work.

1985 I am a witness of Madam Imelda Romualdez Marcos. Her shoes some of those shoes were from the Philippines Shoe Makers . They made her beautiful shoes durable , healthy for feet that fits well her feet. I have a neighbor in Laguna in a Duplex House. She owned a Shop that made shoes for dignitaries. There was one morning she was in a hurry. My employer had greeted her Good morning. She was running in a hurry she yelled I have to bring these two pairs of shoes to Madame Imelda in The Palace . She was going to Italy.

When Imelda's husband became Congressman Ferdinand Marcos, her first project was to establish an orphanage & a home for the aged. Her love for the culture, arts & sports are evident in her wearing the local costume with butterfly sleeves. She was the ambassador of the Philippines by showcasing the Philippines' Arts through dance & song, She always brought along with her the Madrigal singers & the Bayanihan dancers. She gave scholarships to great sportsmen, & individuals with special talents. During the Marcos era, it was the first time the Miss Universe was held in the Philippines, Thrilla in Manila, The Chessmaster championships, etc... As for the shoes, a lot of it was gifted to her by the Marikina shoe creators...

Thanks to peopke that are not fans of the imeldific.Imelda greatly contributed heavy load to the misery of the filipinos whom majority ived under the poverty line because of super lavished lifestyle.Naging pasokatera si ineda naging ilusyonada siya na makapantay siya sa mga royalties abroad at the expense of the nations coffers.During those years in which the philppines was under the ditatorial regime of the marcoses the nation plunges to its worst economic confitions in decades beacause of the heavy indebtedness of the philippines to the workd bank to finance many government projects that narcos had initziated.
