Wonderful review Brett so pleased I'm not the only one that likes and defends Folie A Deux for me this is the true underrated masterpiece of 2024. Mean Girls also didn't market itself as a musical either which is why the reactions to that movie were so negative too. Love how the Joker movies are so unique and different as comic book movies and are not afraid to be their own thing. Margot Robbie is still my favourite Harley but Gaga was still amazing in the role and the trial scenes had me on the edge of my seat Gary and Arthur's interaction particularly stood out. The opening animated Looney Tunes style cartoon was terrific and the soundtrack was my fav of the entire year with The Joker, Build A Mountain, That's Life and To Love Somebody had me signing along to the movie throughout yet the film kept the dark dramatic tone of Joker 2019. As divisive as the ending is going to be it worked for me and cried at the end of Arthur and Lee's relationship😭. I think this could be a strong Oscar contender like it's predecessor!
Same here Harry! Feels like a very small crowd of people who actually liked the movie haha. I totally agree with you. What I loved most about the movie is that it is SO different. It's not a traditional comic book movie whatsoever, it's just doing its own thing!
Hell yeah!! I totally agree, for me it maxes out at like a 7/10, where I have the first one as a 10/10. I just made the video because I wholeheartedly disagree with the overwhelmingly negative reviews!
I agree with pretty much all of your points about this film. I think so many people hung too tightly to the first film, which affected their perception of the film. The sequel is a very bold and ambitious film that was truly daring in its choices and direction.
I agree. I think with the ending of the first, everyone expected Joaquin to be THE Joker in the sequel, but they took a way different approach, much more grounded and ambitious in my mind. It didn't pay off for a lot of people and that's totally cool! But it worked for me!
@BAMTubeMovies it works for me also. People are entitled to opinions, this just makes me think of The Last Jedi and how hated that was, but now has become a favourite, well to some that it. Slight toxic fans syndrome.
@@filmgurumoviereviews4690 Yeahhhhh I still see a ton of TLJ hate, but it does seem to be a bit more neutral now. I didn't LOVE it when I first saw that, but rewatching it over the years had made me appreciate it more. These two movies are VERY similar in that regard haha
definitely agree, I do have slight issue with the execution of the ending but the idea of it and the rest of the entire film I found very unique and refreshing, still like the first one more but can't say that about it and it being musical just matches the joker personality perfectly its strange how many are against it, many people walked out of my screening after the first or second musical number. I spent the entire night thinking about the film, a film wouldn't be meaningless if it achieved that.
That's exactly where I'm coming from. I genuinely don't remember the last time I have thought about a movie in this way for so long. Almost a full week since I have seen it now and I still think about it multiple times a day, finding new meanings, new things to love, etc. I am honestly liking it more and more. It's just SO different.
I suffered through Madame Web, I do not recommend lol. I haven't put myself through Borderlands yet but I probably will before the end of the year haha
I did not like this movie at all. This is a very unnecessary sequel that completely deviates from the first movie with dreadful pointless musical sequences. But I respect your opinion
@@BAMTubeMoviesBruh, the movie was absolutely great. It is exactly like how art films are, it was beautiful. These people are just pissed because it didn't have joker in it and hence contributed to the point of this whole movie, Arthur gets killed by a man at the end( the real joker) for not being what he thought he was that is the joker and the audience did the exact same thing in real life, killed the legacy of the first one cause they wanted joker instead of arthur fleck. This was a masterpiece, not for the comic book obsessed retards lol.
@@deep_7065 it was 2 pictures. The top was Murray Franklin and said “you mean you liked joker 2?” And the bottom was joker and it said “I do and I’m tired of pretending I don’t”
