From Mr Robot Season2 Episode 5 "eps2.3_logic-b0mb.hc"
Elliot writes the FBI hack malware from Ray's computer. Darlene tells Angela that they can wipe the FBI's records connecting her to the Allsafe CD if she helps, but she declines. The parking attendant who found Tyrell's SUV fears that the FBI is onto him, so Joanna orders him killed. Elliot tells Ray that he must communicate with his previous IT specialist, "RT"; Ray reluctantly agrees and brings RT over. Dominique and her team travel to China to investigate the Dark Army's involvement in Five/Nine. There, they meet Minister Zhang, the Chinese Minister of State Security, who is actually Whiterose. After Dominique and Zhang have a private conversation in the evening, gunmen attack the office the following morning, killing most of Dominique's team. Joanna gets a phone call from someone breathing heavily, possibly Tyrell. After her ex-boyfriend Ollie sells her out to the FBI, Angela decides to aid with the hack. Elliot asks RT what happened to him and RT reveals that Ray runs a black market website trafficking drugs, weapons, and sex slaves. That night, thugs break into Elliot's house, drag him into the street, and beat him while Ray reminds him that he was warned not to look.

For those who aren't in this field, He is writing a custom metasploit(tool) module in ruby(programming language) but without an extension(.rb) the code highlights dosent work... therefore, no color based scheme is there Also he is trying to exploit a 0day to hack the FBI's android... While in the starting screen he was updating his ubuntu vps Talking about the chatting, That was a cli based irc client. One more thing, While talking about his past he mentioned how he exploited a vulnerable FTP server to get access to the library, the vulnerability he used was "AS400" a real world ftp vulnerability (you can check the internet for more info, I can't recall but i guess it was from 2005 or so)... Any questions/corrections are appreciated. So feel free to ask and comment your views

Beautiful scene! He's basically writing a ruby script that sniffs for packets in the Femtocell. This script will sniff and intercept a packets containing the text APK , if it's found then it will send the malicious APK to the user. I think the idea of this was to send a fake packet that tells android phone that there's an update so when the android tries to download the new apk update, Eliot will intercept it and replace it with his malicious malware that will get him access to the phone. I believe this was an actual exploit that somebody found a few years back and was patched.

@@ozhoneybadger Ok, so there is this tool called metasploit. It has this huge database of payloads, and exploits. These are called modules. You can select an exploit with the use command, set the payload, set a parameter called RHOSTS to the target up address, set lhost to your IP address, and run it. If the exploit runs successfully, you get access to the computer, depending on the payload. Now, Elliot is creating his own exploit to gain access to android smart phones. If you look at the code, you see “Knox browser exploit”. This means he is exploiting a zero-day(an unknown vulnerability that malware is targeting) in the Knox browser.

Hmm .. so from the limited script that I could see .. 1. Intercepts the traffic from any apk ( that's why regex) installed on the mobile devices of the FBI phone .. hence he uses a femtocell to catch the nearby fbi phones 2. Capture the IPv4 /V6 header from the request and switch it with "Magic headers" .. possible MITM .. and overrides the header of the IP packet 3. When he switches the header , calls the payload function containing his code by passing the first parameter ($1) That's all I could understand 😅

I cant get over the fact that the soundtrack of this scene is an unreleased version of „whats ur ask“. I‘ve been looking for this version since 2018

I have no idea what he was typing or saying or why he was doing it. I tried reading the comments, but that confused me further. But... SWEET MOTHER OF BOB, that was a thrilling scene. I love this show.
