I think that's interesting as well. In the show "Texhnolyze" which takes place in an underground city, it was said that the initial settlers all had blue eyes. There was a time when the lights went out for three days, there was great upheaval, and when the light had returned everyone's eyes had turned brown. I've not been able to figure exactly what they were alluding to, and wonder if it stems from an older mythology. Does anyone know more about this?
@@Acetyl53 o m g. I hate that anime. With a passion. 🤦♂️ If you like it that's cool, personally speaking I'm not into those types of "bittersweet" endings where everything ends on a bad note but someone at the end acquires some type of enlightenment so it's supposed to be beautiful in a stoic way. ✋ No thanks. I'm not afraid to say I love me some cliché "Happily ever after" endings where everyone survives and ends up happy. I already have enough depression in my life I'm not going to take it in my entertainment as well. 😅
"It always takes in three's", Slap the grandchild, order them to stay away from something, considering this generation...may as well leave a trail of candy for them to follow...or tidepods.
@Amanda Greene I suppose some of us have to fight the little voice that dares us more than others, from the sounds of it, she survived, with a few valuable lessons learned.
This story was good and the way the the author wrote it made me visualize it like if I was there myself. Your narration is getting better and better every time you narrate. Keep the good work up.
This is probably the only horror narration channel that I listen to every night. All the others I'm subscribed to I only listen to every few days. This one just has the most stories that pique my interest.
@@justsomeguy8385 you have a point, though, even if she couldn't tell him the truth and have him accept it, she should have lied and told him _something_ so he'd stay away.
Me and my cousins we used to climb our local water tower as kids and I have to admit that yeah it was definitely dangerous and really dumb but there is a feeling that you get when you're up there like you are on top of the world I don't know honestly it was probably the adrenaline or something but that is a memory I don't think ill ever forget...oh to be young and dumb again . Where has the time gone?
I hated how often my grandparents would say "time flies" or "Before you can blink, ten years will go by" and not only did it feel like I was graduating HS one min and the next min I was in my 30s with a family but now I'm the one sounding just like my grandparents.... 🙄🤣 Ahhhh to be young!
Similar story but not as extreme, some old childhood friends of mine had a massive tree in their front yard and id try to climb it every chance I got, there's just some kind of primal sense of freedom being able to see how high you can get. Course... as a kid you don't really plan ahead, I'd get so high the branches started to get too thin to hold me and i'd fall, luckily kids are practically rubber otherwise I wouldn't be here lol
I love these "that's what you get" stories. Example: Sign: "Beware of bears, stay on path." MC: *goes off path* *gets mauled* Me: *laughs* "That's what you get."
ALWAYS listen to grandma or grandpa! They know. They’ve already been there and done that! They aren’t trying to limit your fun; they’re trying to protect you! I was just complaining about all the round-abouts that have been going up all thru the city bc MOST ppl don’t know how to navigate. I happened to live in one area and party in another that always one already. So I learned to drive using them regularly. However, for most, they’re new. It’s so frigging frustrating. It reminds me of NL European Vacation where clark gets stuck in one. I’ve seen that happen.
Are they really not taught in driving school over there? Here they're as inevitable as streetside parking skills. (I still can't reverse into one, though, far too scared of bumping another car.)
Awesome narration and excellent visuals! This story by DrElsewhere was a well written small town cryptid mystery tale. Thank goodness Grandma was as knowledgeable as she was and also knew her grandson as well as she did!! Of course, tell a teen to not do something is like ordering them to do it! Lol. Extremely well done! Thank you both very much!!
Never seen any in my life. We have natural springs and aquaeducts here that provide the water for the cities. I think it has been that way for many thousands of years. Austrian here.
This. When the grandma says it always happens in three's. As someone who has worked in healthcare for many years, I can attest it's true. Deaths seem to happen in three's. I've never gotten a solid answer as to how or why. Another great one Lighthouse. Amazing story and narration ❤️
"Why hadn't I listened to my grandmother?" Probably because instead of giving you a straight forward answer she assaulted you and said, "oooo big man? You're a little boy. I COMMAND you to do as i say"
Telling a kid to not do something is going to make it even more appealing to them. Want them do not do it? Explain why it's a bad idea! Show them the book as soon as the second body was found and make sure they understand what trouble was coming.
Hey, I read a comment about your burnout and I just want you to know that I appreciate your constant stream of uploads. Sometimes I don't always enjoy the story (not this one as I enjoyed it) but it is never because of your narrations. As someone who has dealt with burnout before, I know how hard it is to keep going when all you want to do is just stop.
I understand the trope of "i know monsters exist but I'll make you think they don't cuz you're a kid." It's dumb & selfish as hell but the trauma from having to know of/prepare for a confrontation with a/some monster(s) would destroy the mindless, senseless joy that adults keep thinking kids are supposed to have. An illusion of peace before reality descends.
Great narration as always, LH! This one wasn't as gripping or hard-hitting as so many are that you choose to narrate, but it was well written. I liked the aspect of hidden evil though, rather than super canned generic evil thing, ie: *_The protagonist "feels like they're watched" as they "notice the forest has gone completely quiet around them, without even the sound of bugs or bird chatter", as they "feel a mounting sense of unease and dread in the pit of their stomach", only to then "scold themselves for letting their imagination run wild with a chuckle", immediately before they stumble directly in front of "huge, evil red eyes, radiating with hatred"._* Did I forget anything?? 😂 So yeah, the notion that the monster had some kind of camouflage that both lured and then seemingly hypnotized & played on emotions was an interesting take on the "teenager meets monster" story. Thanks for the great narration as always, LH! _(Oh yeah, one last thing. I signed up to be a Patrion supporter of yours, but then the site went wonky midway through. Did it complete, like were you able to see me as a new supporter? If not I'll have to go back and redo it. Cheers!)_
8:05 Meaning he didn't understand jack... 8:26 Woman you did EVERYTHING to rouse his machi curiosity. Frigging old folks in horror stories not telling people _anything_ .
Later that night, as he was preparing to take a shower he looks down ,and the once pearl white underwear he had on turned to a deep mysterious brown color. ( creepy piano music )
Probably this is the amount of food it needs to subsist until next feeding. What I wonder is why no effort was madevto break the chain. It would starve and as it did will have to act in a riskier manner. Also is weird no one tried to hunt it. As protection noise cancelling headphones should suffice. As weapon a harpoon or really any projectile provided you coat it in venom. If is alive it can be killed, if is a fae/demon it can be banished
Cool story, just a little tiring how grandma is like "you no go there" and doesn't bother to say anything about the reason or generational research on it. Love your narrations!
Question. Is it possible when grandmother says it takes in 3's The fact that grandma and the main character once had brown eyes that are now turned blue. Is due to the close proximity of the winged being had possessed there souls but we're saved by someone distracting them both to prevent them from falling. But remain then a walking dead vessel without there soul but still live out there usual years.
Tbh grandma should've just kept her mouth shut if she/ his parents weren't gonna watch him 24/7. She knows her family better than the mc & she still expected him to just sit still & not be an actual idiot.
Here we go again about stubbornness and curiosity and can’t stay away because grown up told them don’t go! lol 😝 Next time just tell them go instead of don’t go because kids intend to do the opposite! lol 😂 Later When they got caught or in a trouble situation then they realize that the grown up was right! So obvious! Great story though thank you ! Great narrative ❤
Sorry. The apoplectic face wasn't intended for you Maestro. I just listened to a bunch of stories where someone's remedy to all things paranormal was burning sage and cleansings. At last a bloodcurdling howl was wrenched from my deepest core and I ran right over to Lighthouse Horror to cheer myself up.
