These negative comments really show the toxic side of our jazz community. When you’re on Emmets place, you can do whatever you want, however you want. Be thankful we got to see this art! Stop trying so desperately to vibe people and enjoy the music.

Who called the jazz police into this comment section? Just chill out people, jazz is still underapprecaited and undervalued. Jazz is subjective and versitile, if you dont like it then just turn it off and move on. All the hate isnt necessary and all youre doing is making yourself seem sad and bitter. Lew is a master and has been around for awhile. Show some respect...

Wonderful. Does anyone know - if Yasushi the son (or relative) of bassist Teru Nakkamura? I often played with Teru in NYC in late 70s. thx

Yikes. Two issues here... If you know this song and the sentiment of it, hearing it at this tempo with several talented musicians just ejaculating over it is really disappointing and frustrating. Second, im curious of the commenters and viewers here, how many are musicians? Id say probably 95%. Musicians playing for musicians isnt always bad, but that coupled with the fact theyre taking one of the most beautiful sentimental ballads ever written and disregarding its meaning for the sake of flexing virtuosity, harmonic knowledge is a sure-fire way to keep Jazz music disliked and out of the public. Aight, im done. 👍

Jazz music has been musicians playing for musicians since bebop was started by Monk, Parker, Dizzy, etc. They wernt playing for anybody other than themselves. That's just how jazz is. It's meant to be appreciated for what it is, not what it isn't... Go listen to smooth jazz if you want jazz that's meant to be more accessible haha
