Not sure what is happening with Dodge/Ram/Jeep service but we finally had enough and are going back to Toyota! Signed the irritated Ram owners!

When FCA sold to Stellantis the changes (for the worse) started immediately. I have owned Ram trucks since 2010 and I now drive a 2024 Toyota Tundra. Ram (Stellantis) is a huge mess on all aspects. Pricing, supply, quality, service. Ram was becoming such a solid brand after digging out of an old reputation of being not great, and it only took a couple years for them to regress immensely. Another major detractor of the Ram brand - they DO NOT hold value. Now even the Cummins trucks are losing value fast.

I have just as bad a story with Toyota. They ruined a brand new, $8000.00 engine in a Chevy truck that I bought from them and replaced that brand new engine with a rebuilt from KLQ. They flat out lied to me! I will NEVER do business with Toyota again. The dealership is on I35 in Lewisville Tx. Due to a half year battle with the staff at this store that lied countless times, I will NOT do business with ANY Toyota dealership! I’m currently driving a Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought from Huffines in Lewisville and I will continue to do business with them.

Wouldn’t ya know it, I got a Lewisville Toyota ad in my feed this morning. So I expressed my feelings along with the case number for proof. Let’s see what happens.

Gas prices are killing used truck prices. Just like back in 09 when you could buy a 3 year old 40k mile used suburban or 4x4 truck for $7k. Gas was $5 I have a 2013 RAM and love it. 134k miles only needed a water pump. $140 for a new one and 1hr of my time replacing it. Oh and a new belt. Another $40. No rust holes yet. Ive seen a lot of much newer trucks rotted away.

I’m with you. Bought a Dodge Ram in 1977 kept it just over a year. It’s was a nightmare and I said never again. Then stupidly bought another one in 1999, again same thing. Nightmare #2. This time I mean it NEVER again and haven’t to this day.

I feel your pain! Bought a new, 2019, Silverado, $48K+. I purchased some add-ons which would take “three days to put on. I noted the mileage when I left the truck at the dealer. After four days, I called the dealer; so what’s up guys? Response: “We’re getting everything done, should wrap it up tomorrow.” Oh, really? 🤬 You know what got them? I checked the OnStar system and guess what? The truck hadn’t moved one inch. Paid a little visit to the service manager and after presenting them with the facts and that their service advisor was a class A liar; the truck was ready the next day and, 10 free oil changes to boot.

I feel your pain. I've had horrible service with both Ram and Chevrolet truck's. I currently own a Ram and drive it to Kansas City(from Dallas area) because my sister's oldest is the service manager for a Ram stealership there. Sucks having to drive that far but at least I get to see my sister and her family. Also, I don't think Toyota makes a truck anything like the PowerWagon.

Most dealership techs are glorified parts changers. I know cause I worked for several over a 37 year period before retiring. I however worked as a used car tech and was accustomed to fixing vehicles with the least amount of replacement parts. Saved our department a ton of money too by just using some common sense like you exhibited ❤

In my area all service industries are so backed up with work they can disrespect customers. They really don’t need your business. But in your case a vehicle under warranty they should be doing everything possible to keep you buying a dodge vehicle. I bought a new Chevy had a squeaky break my local dealer said he wasn’t going to waste his time trying to find out the problem. Took to a dealer 30 mins away new rotor and all is good.

Sorry you're having such a problem with the dealer. I have a 2022 Rebel with 30000 miles on it and never a problem. The dealer I use is in a small town and their service is great. This is the fifth Ram truck I have owned and never had any major issues with any of them. I don't know where you live, but it sounds like the dealers in your area really stink! Best of luck to you.

Funny thing is that my F350 had the same recall as your RAM on the tail gate. I found the issue before I got the recall notice as we were pulling our 5th wheel when it decided to open on its own. I was able to feel it go down, and pulled over on the side of the highway to put it back up. I was lucky that the tailgate did not jam into the front of the 5th wheel. I'm also having issues with my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, as the infotainment system is total junk. It was in the shop for 6 weeks in early 2022 waiting on a complete new system. I was on the phone with Corporate Jeep at least a dozen times during the 6 weeks that it sat there. They had agreed to buy the car back if it was not back in my possession by a certain date, and what do you know they returned it on that last day. It now has some issue with the 4 wheel drive system, and intermittently puts a message on the screen "service 4 wheel drive system". I pulled the codes and its for some solenoid in the transfer case. The automatically folding mirrors no longer work, and it won't let me create a profile for my wife to set her set and other things. I'm just about done with this POS, and am looking at a Toyota Highlander or Sequoia. Kent

It's a long shot but if the radio has a reset button try that. If not, make sure u have all ur info (security codes) & try disconnecting battery for 30 mins. (Thats so everything Dissipates it's power.) I don't work on or know jeeps, just other manufacturers mention to do that with infotainment issues. Even phones need turned off. Most people don't & always keep it charged. Anyways, it's just a shot.

dealerships dont have good margins on warranty work. so they do an initial diag and if they cant make money on it they'll let sit until someone in the garage has time to fix it. Dodge/Jeep dealerships along with Ford are swapped with major warranty repair work. my local ford dealership has a 3 month wait for warranty work. i can only image what Dodge/Jeep has.

I feel your pain. I will never buy another Jeep again. I've owned 2 Grand Cherokees a Liberty and a Commander. Issues with every single one. Annoying things like "intermittent electrical problems" transmission issues and piss poor customer service. Sold my wifes Liberty and bought a 2023 Santa Fe Sel and are no issues with the Hyundai. My wife loves driving it and its great on gas mileage. 35 mpg mix of her slow driving. Very luxurious inside and well appointed. I'm looking at a Palisade Hyundai for myself. We got the 10 year extended bumper to bumper warranty on the Santa Fe and pay a 200 deductible and nothing else. Besides, Jeep is pricing themselves out of new customers. They are not high end, just want you to pay high end prices.

Purchased a new 2022 Grand Cherokee. Toque converter malfunction light came on. Dealer lied said they were waiting on a software update to fix it. Took it to another dealer finally Mopar replace whole tranny close to 30000 miles on it. It started this almost off the lot, too dumb to try the lemon law, and the time flies by so fast lost track. Was very lucky to get it fixed. Things like remote start will not work when any malfunction light is on.

First year jeep reintroduced Cherokee it was notorious for transmission issues and I owned one. Kept it about 3 weeks traded it off on another one. Same issue started again, this time I badgered them and finally hooked up with this super nice service rep. He said you know what I’m gonna order you a whole new updated transmission. They put it in and the Cherokee was perfect. The down side? That rep lost his job for costing the company too much to solve my issue.

bought a used 012 ram 1500 quad cab w/140k miles on it. The only major repair was replacing radiator at 228k miles. 4.7 L v-8 still runs good. The key to longevity is maintenance, maintenance and more maintenance . Because It's a lot cheaper than paying $700, $800. or $1000. A month on truck payments. I would not dare pay $50k plus for a pickup truck unless it's Peterbilt or Kenworth.

That's sad, but not surprising. My 78 year old next door neighbor speced out his 2021 RAM 1500 at just under $104,000.00, and the "Hemi" started rod knocking at 37,000. Dodge tried to tell him it was his fault for not turning on the Red Light, Engine Shut Off. Apparently the main crack, is to high out of the oil, so the main bearings don't get enough oil, at idle. I legit, thought he was kidding me! First the dealer tried 85/160 gear oil to stop the knocking, but of course that just caused other problems. After 6 returns to the dealer, he told them either fix it, or Lemon Law Me! So they ordered a new in the crate 2015 engine, so there'ld be NO more problems. That's right a 2015 engine, in a 2021 truck, TO FIX IT! Meanwhile his son bough a southern pre owned 2018 Toyota V8 Land Cruiser, for $68K, and it's been flawless. Even pulling their gooseneck toy hailer, from the roof of the LC! Good luck, with your new rides. Have you ever looked into the Mahindra Roxor? Give Angie my love, and the Pups as well.

With the simple fix it would have taken longer to figure out their upcharges of the warranty to dodge. It seems companies today don't care if customers are happy with service/product, they don't care if the customer comes back. It's a throw away mentality. Back in the day companies cared about customers and customers were loyal because of that.

Toyota isnt a perfect vehicle either. My mom bought a corolla and it had issues from day one. The chrome plating on the door handles peeled off and sliced her hand open. The chrome plating peeled off everything on the interior. The dashboard has a door over a cubbyhole by the shifter it was broken the day it rolled off the lot. The rear tail light fills up with water. After 3 years and 20k miles the paint on the roof and trunk was peeling off. She traded it in for a turbocharged kia optima which has 300hp. It has had 0 issues over the last 5 years now. I have a 2008 honda odyssey which has 150k and ive had to put $6k worth of repairs to it and still has several major issues. It burns 1 qt if oil every 900 miles. I also have a 2002 gmc sonoma 230k miles that has ever only needed a water pump, fuel pump, injectors and an alternator. But my 2013 Ram with 134k has only needed a water pump. Of all the vehicles in our family over the years the KIA has been the best with the RAM in second but it also has double the miles. I was working at a customer home the other day and he has a brand new 2500 lifted tricked out (by the factory) all the bells and whistles truck aand it was going bonkers. I told him i think your keyfob in your pocket is pressing the buttons for the locks and lights and he said nope, it spazes out like that and then the tailgate just fell on its own🤔. 85k dollar truck🤣🤣

Man, I hate to hear about your experience. We’ve got an ok Jeep/Ram dealer that we take our vehicles to. Ironically, I have a Power Wagon and my wife had a white Grand Cherokee. At 51k on her GC, it developed a head gasket leak. We had to rent a car since the dealer didn’t have anything to lend us and Jeep Cares took care of the rental. After it was fixed, we traded into a Wrangler (with a different engine). My PW has been great but the price of an oil change is high. I had a Challenger with the 6.4L engine and oil changes were less expensive. How do you like towing with the Power Wagon?

Thats what you get for paying 70k for a truck that realistically is worth 40k after you drive it off the lot 😂

in 2016, I bought a Dodge Ram 3500 to pull my 41 ft fifth wheel. At about 7500 miles, the transmission went out. To their credit, they fixed it under warranty, but it took two weeks to get approval and do the repair. The next year, I needed a front end alignment. Soon after getting the alignment, the steering wheel started going off center when driving straight, after a few days, the steering wheel had drifted about 180 degrees off center. All this while pulling the fifth wheel up highway 101. Finally got it fixed, but QC isn't in the Dodge vocabulary. When I had the choice to buy an LTV this year, I woudn't even consider that Wonder built on a Ford chasis. American made autos and trucks are just bad! Sorry!!!

For a while, American cars were better but in the past few years it seems they again have quality issues. Unfortunately, they have the market cornered on HD trucks.

To many bad and corrupt dealers and incompetent mechanics and has been a problem for years with many brands. The law requires manufacturers to sell thru dealerships, if you can find a good one, you're alright otherwise your screwed. And as far as the electronics on vehicles there a pain and for the most part unnecessary for those of us that simply want an uncomplicated reliable vehicle.

Wow just so sad too see what coustomer service has come too. You definitely hear way more horror stories about it now a days and it really boils down to no one being held accountable for there work. I hear it all the time from bosses if I don’t put up with this guys shitty work I would not have anyone to do the work it’s that bad now a days.

I hate FCA. I have had nothing but trouble with them. I have a 14 Challenger R/T Classic in Plum crazy bought new its been in the shop more than on the streets. It's now at almost 40k miles and was in the dealer for over two months for new heads due to overheating. The heads have manufacturing defects. I will never buy another Dodge FCA product. They build junk and the service sucks. That car should have been junked under CA Lemon Law and they knew it.

That film on the truck is probably some type of tree pollen…or whatever type of nature is prevalent in your area.

Yea, always the first problem with car repair is always having to take it to the dealer. Dealer mechanics are paid by the hour not the job. Once they sell the car they rarely care about it.

Dealers are paid Flag Rate not by the hour.

And on a second note, I have been an automotive technician ASE Master certified automotive technician for 25 plus years. And in those 25 years I have noticed that more and more dealers are unable to hold on to their quality technicians and are pretty much just hiring parts replace people instead of actual technicians and saving the money on the hourly wage. Nobody in my trade wants to work for dealers anymore because when you do warranty work on vehicles they pay pennies as opposed to customer pay work. I get where you're coming from for being a new car new truck owner but you're better off going with a brand you know and doing some internet digging on that brand instead of going with the fad brand that Dodge became for a while and end up with an inferior product.

I wish there was a way to private message you. I have a ram and have had great results with a couple of dealers I would be happy to share. I do not want to share them on the chat to help you keep your privacy. I actually went from a Tundra to the Ram because they went to a v6 in all their trucks.
