I Looked At Negative Ori And The Blind Forest Reviews So You Don't Have To

After the severe drought of lack of hollow knight silksong news in the game awards, I am in dire need of a metroid-vania game. I remember checking out Ori and the Blind Forest in the summer of 2018, right after 100%ing hollow knight, and I’ll be honest, I didn’t enjoy it! I dropped it after an hour of gameplay.
But things are different now. After a few years gone by, I decided to try out Ori again with no expectations, and to just go with the flow. I fell in love with this game. The levels feel great to move through, and don’t let me even get started on the artstyle of the game, along with its’ sweet orchestral soundtrack. This atmosphere, exploration and the curiosity I felt during this game is something that I will cherish.

@@Danielmrmasked Maybe it is, it would make sense since Ori and the blind forest had quit a lot of positive review. But I'm not sure if Hollow Knight was actually strongly inspired by Ori. It's all just like with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which maybe had a lot of inspiration from Hollow Knight.

I also stumbled upon this game while fiending for Hollow Knight, and I was honestly blown away by it. I am really surprised why its fanbase is so much smaller than Hollow Knight's or many other games. It's definitely challenging at times, but, I think, fairly (I just completed that part where the spider character steals the rock and you have to float up with the feather to escape, took me a good bunch of times). For me, everything is stunning about it, the gameplay, the graphics, the story. It's kinda unfortunate that it, in a way, lives in Hollow Knight's shadow, but I think it deserves it's own recognition.

funnily enough as someone who tried HK after beating both ori games, i really didnt like HK that much, the controlls were too restricted, i had no idea where to go and what to do, pretty much the opposite of the HK -> Ori people

I mean the more restricted movements are better for the boss fights, which imo are the focus points in HK’s gameplay compared to the plat forming
@pear4576

@@actualatom To be honest, having Ori tell you exactly where to go all the time is smth I did not enjoy at all. I liked HK for how you didn't always know where to go, you'd have to go back to other areas sometimes to find out you missed something. With Ori, if I left a place, I never went back. If I missed something I'd have absolutely no idea because I didn't care to check, if I had to go back, the game would tell me. I understand if you're the opposite though if you played them in that order. For me it was HK first and then Ori being so in your face story wise just sucked. I can imagine the other way around sucks just as much. I don't quite know what you mean by controls were too restricted though haha. Also I'm a combat person, so HK for me was just a lot better. The combat in Ori was very dull... I played it years ago but all I can remember from it is just hitting one button repeatedly every time I was near someone. I like more interactive combat. To each their own, but I'm glad negative reviews exist. If everybody only reviewed positive, nobody would ever know if a game sucked (for games that have 90% negative reviews for example). And sometimes you just want some constructive things before you buy a game, it can really be helpful. Also to be honest, I think having more in your face kinda stories is fine in games... Like God of War, or The Witcher. But in Ori there just wasn't enough variation like, hey you can do these 5 things pick one and you get a few new ones on the way. Idk maybe it's me, it's not just what I Was looking for in a game. And I guess without really wanting to, I did compare it to HK. And the absolute worst part for me was the start with controls. I like a PS4 controller, Ori didn't allow me to rebind things at least not on PC, and the X/O were fucked for some reason. So I had to play on an Xbox controller which fucking sucked. I completed the game but honestly, I almost put it down at the start simply because of that. If something as easy as rebinding keys isn't available, I'm not gonna have a good time...
@samaron8970
@samaron8970 Год назад
There seems to be a simple response to most of these reviews: get good. It's a cliche, but it does apply here, not liking a game because it's not a different game is their opinion, but trashing a game for not being a different game is just absurd. If they want to play hollow knight... then they can just play hollow knight. People compare these two games constantly when they're not really all that similar, people expected a clone of a different game because that's what people unfairly accused it of being, and then they were dissapointed to find that it was its own thing.
@christopherenegane5812
@christopherenegane5812 9 месяцев назад
Disagreed, just because of my physical keyboard not being with me when I played it made the feather / dash sections very annoying. The way you can't change controls made the game "harder" but imo, the game is pretty easy, most of it was more annoying than anything. Also, sometimes, the laser ennemies would destroy your path (once lol) and sometimes, you can't see Ori.
@samaron8970
@samaron8970 9 месяцев назад
@@christopherenegane5812 The games are pretty easy, but I had fun the whole time, I played it by plugging a playstation controller into a laptop, no one has a more scuffed setup than I did, but the games were eternally fun and satisfying, and failure rarely felt like the game's fault.

In search to a modern platformer, 5 bucks for this game seemed like a guaranteed no brainer. Played trough to a 100% save in 10 hours and I'll probably do another playthrough for most of the remaining achievements. The only thing that bothered me was: WHERE AM I ON THE SCREEN? AND WHAT THE HELL IS DAMAGING ME?! 😂 Too much doing on while Ori takes like 2% of the entire screen.

Just made it to the first temple, the tree with the portals. Really started to notice the "charm" of the game when the foreground blocked spikes on the ground, and the portals flinging you all over with no way to tell where you're coming out and where to go next without using the trial-by-error method on top of the resource-based saving mechanic - the one that really did it for me was when I portalled through and the screen panned over to where I was going but I couldn't see my character because the color of the portals blended with the character colors too much and then I fell into a pit instead of properly using my 2nd jump to go into the next portal so I wound up in a pit of spikes that I couldn't get out of and then died. Oh, and I love that some abilities are locked behind other abilities that aren't tied to it, but I managed to save up 2 stat points to by aerial dash... oh wait, I don't have dash yet. The unskippable cutscenes make me want to save after each one, hurray for resource-based saving! The story was pretty cringe, imo the only thing this game has going for it is the soundtrack - which is why I gave it a go in the first place.

Interesting video! If I'm unsure about buying a game I tend to read the negative reviews on Steam, if they mention things I agree with it can be a deal breaker. I played Blind Forest first then Hollow Knight and then Will of the Wisps. It didn't occur to me to compare HK to BF because BF isn't a metroidvania to me, it's an adventure platformer, mostly because of the lack of bosses and *actual* combat. I love each of these games, they're all in my top 5 games ever. You can't love all games but to dislike a game because it isn't like your favorite one is just dumb.

I actually played ori blind forest and wotw before playing hollow knight and I still enjoy both games. The game can be quite frustrating at times. If you go into it expecting a "normal" metroidvania, it might make you even more frustrated. I think this game is a platforming challenge first and foremost, closer in gameplay to rayman and celeste than super metroid or hollow knight.

I loved that game to bits, but I have to admit that I agree to some of the points made about the game mechanics. I very nearly rage quit at the Ginzo tree, and had I done that, I would not have had this warm happy feeling about the game that I do. It would just be another uncompleted game in my collection. I'm happy that I stuck with it, though, because the art and the story completely overshadows the rough parts in my mind, and it stands out as one of the best games I have ever played.

I have no idea why someone would want to change the keybinds. They actually did an incredibly good job at mapping the default in a way thats very intuitiv in my opinion. At least i had never problems with it. Also the instant kill traps are eliviated by the manual save system that lets u save when ever u want basicly creating emulator save states. Sure its costly in the beginning but the benefit far outweigh the cost and with time and upgrades it becomes a non issue. I literally save every few meters in the final dungeon just to be safe. I think many of those people go at the game with a the wrong mindset expecting things the game doesnt offer. Like playing Digimon and expecting Pokemon gameplay. Both are technicly Monster Catch Games but they are fundamentaly different in their design and those expectations will just ruin the fun of the game.

7:00 to be honest, as a person who played both parts of ori first and then hollow knight i can agree that the function of the game is different. For example, I was so addicted to the mechanics of ori that when I first started playing hollow it was so strange, I didn't even like the game. But certainly over time we get used to the mechanics and how the game works so it's not a problem. But man both games are so fun and beautiful

This is an amazing video, I am guilty of being a Hollow Knight player gone to Ori and disliking it. I don't know if I would enjoy Ori if I went back to it now, it's been 2 years but I'm still very much in love with Hollow Knight, watching content (I didn't play for like a year but now getting my gf to play it and watching some playthroughs did a speedrun myself), it's just a lot of fun. Maybe if I don't play HK for a year and then I pick up Ori, I could enjoy it. I might do this someday, I still wanna play WOTW as well, but only to see if it's any better... I'm gonna give you my review of the game here and I'll be comparing it to HK a few times, but also try and provide objective points, and subjective based on my game preference. So it's been 2 years since I played Ori so certain things I don't remember as much such as the saving thing I'd forgotten about... So I remember when I first started HK, and immediately the vibe felt good, the movement felt comfortable, nice introduction into healing and I liked that mechanic immediately. Dirtmouth was nice and filling it up with some new people and the map was something I absolutely love. The not knowing where to go but figure it out and go exploring was a lot of fun to me. Then comes Ori, The first part of the game I was kinda confused with why we controller the mother but sure, anyway the introduction just kinda felt long to me and you're immediately brought back to life and it's like alright... Then came the movement, honestly I completed the game unlike you but, I never got used to the movement. I hated that movement. I don't think this is because I came off HK, I think I compared it to HK, Mario, Cuphead, just any other game that I played where character movement actually felt nice... Ori is I think the only game I've ever played where I thought wow, this movement SUCKS. I'm sorry but I can't put it any other way. On top of that I was playing with PS4 controller and the keybinds were inverted between X and O so I had to change to Xbox controller after trying to change controls for a while but ultimately just saying I cba. Let me tell you, this in most games, would be an instant deal breaker to me. I just gave Ori a chance because I Was hoping for a good story and a good time... Btw some people in the comments said Hollow Knights movement felt too restricted and man I do not understand haha. Anyway then we move on, and this is an area where I think I will compare it to HK the most. Which is both combat and time to unlock things. I think we can objectively say that Hollow Knight's combat is much better. I will say this is where my personal game preference comes in. But coming to Ori after hearing about it online as a must play it's great just like Hollow Knight, I guess my expectations were just... higher. Honestly I'd say that yeah, my expectations were too high coming in which ruined the game for me. If I'd heard it's alright a metroidvania, I might've enjoyed it more. But one thing I loved about HK is the combat, Godhome was amazing... So coming into Ori and having such a boring combat system just sucked, honestly. And this is something that has to do with my expectations. The Witcher 1 had awful combat but, I didn't care. I was going into it knowing its combat sucked and focused on the story. But with Ori my expectations didn't match, which is on me I suppose. I wouldn't mind having as little real combat in Ori as it did, but I am a combat kinda guy so after HK and having those expectations it does really suck. I don't remember much of it, which says enough, but I just remember spamming one button over and over and over lol. Now as for time to unlock things, this is where I think the biggest HK comparison comes in. in HK getting a new ability felt nice, it felt like I had to put in some effort to get it, for dash you have to fight Hornet, for claw you have to do Mantis Village and finish it off with Mantis Lords. It felt like such a good achievement. In Ori I think wall jump took me like what, 10 minutes? Maybe less... It was just underwhelming honestly. I was like wait, wall jump, already? And I never really unlocked a sick new ability where I'm like yeahhh I wanted that so bad! I can do this now! In HK when I unlocked wall jump I was like yeah I can go here now, and here, and here. In Ori it was like, I had no idea where I might've previously used it... I just followed the objectives, never went somewhere I didn't have to go, never explored. Again, this is where my HK brain comes in the most. Hollow Knight was my first metroidvania... Maybe if I played the other way around, it would've been different. Maybe I'd be in a HK section right now complaining about how long it took for wall jump to be available... Probably not though cause the movement objectively sucks for me personally. But yeah I don't think I'd know any better as to gaining abilities early, I might've genuinely enjoyed it being like oh hey early ability nice. And unlocking quickly and easily and being like this was fun. But coming from HK where everything felt like such a difficult task and big pay off, Ori was underwhelming in this department. More in replies below, sorry too long haha. I wrote a lot my bad hahaha. Also great video just wanted to add that, good points in defense of Ori and also good way to judge with criticism and sometimes agreeing. Very nice.

Now as for story, HK obviously has a very vague underlying story, which in Dark Souls, I do not enjoy... But in Hollow Knight, this is masked for me by exploring, fun combat and an enjoyable experience. HK has you looking for the story, Ori just kinda tells you what to do. Which in a lot of games I don't mind, but they do it... better? Or maybe again, my HK brain is betraying me and saying bro this sucks! But again, a huge part of what I liked in HK was exploration, going back to previous areas and seeing what I missed, opening hidden paths. In Ori, I just didn't really care. I unlock an ability that could've gotten me somewhere in area 1? Well honestly, I didn't really care to even find out cause... I mostly forgot where I could go back to if anywhere at all... Also having the objectives clear every single time made it pointless to go back at all. I knew where to go at all times and had no reason to explore areas from before. Let's compare this to a game like The Witcher or God of War. Yes you basically know where to go all the time, but there's fun sidequests that you can do that provide different lore stuff or just rewards. Ori didn't do this at all... Why'd I go back to an area from before if, I already know where to go and there's nothing there for me to do at all... The story in general was alright but also, not really? Hard to explain my reasoning here. I don't have a certain preference for like multiple ending kinda games or dark endings or anything. I just didn't feel like the story was amazing or anything. In the end, the bird puts the thing back herself and accepts death so I'm like well... That's kind of an easy way to end it lol. It didn't really satisfy me it just felt like it was meant to be wholesome but just didn't give me any kind of satisfaction. I didn't feel like I did something difficult to get there, like omg difficult boss fight and then she's like oh shit. And honestly the caretaker of Ori coming back to life, again something that might be wholesome but, I'm not really into that in this way. That felt super cheap to me, like might as well bring the bird back to life (sorry I forgot the name of the mother bird haha it's been a while). It just felt super cheap to me. Overall the story was so in your face I feel like it should've been better you know? If it was gonna be objectives one after the other I feel like if the story had actually been killer good, I'd love the game. But having the story be such a huge part of your game and it really not being anything incredible just left me unsatisfied by the end. God of War or The Witcher have amazing stories, if it's all about the story, make it as good as those... And as I said before they did sidequests better too. Basically story and gameplay wise, I'm used to higher standards than what Ori delivered... A lot of people have this problem nowadays, played so many masterpiece games that anything that doesn't live up to absolute perfection, just sucks haha. Perfection again, being relative. But yeah having played amazing story games, HK, good movement games. Basically Ori offered nothing that made me go like this was good! Also it was a relatively short game which I didn't expect going in. HK comparison warning, but I went into HK expecting maybe 20 hours and I ended up playing like 300. And while I know some people who did complete HK in 25 hours and then quit, they knew nothing about the story, just ran through everything. But even those people, still loved the combat and loved the game in general. For me the first time I defeated THK was like, 50 hours into it maybe? And that was just ending one... Ori took me 10 hours, and if you compare the size of the production, the graphics of Ori, I just expected more. Speaking of graphics, I agree with that one review about the guy who said it was good for a trailer but just too much. That is true, it looks amazing, but sometimes, simplicity is just better. The amount of colors is just so annoying. I think you made a very, very good point about the camera. When I was watching this footage of yours I was thinking ''Man if the camera was closer the game would be a lot better already''. And you said it perfectly as well, Ori is just too fucking small, which makes the movement even worse when the camera is so far away. Then take all the graphics into account and basically, it's hard to move around, it's hard to see things, the screen is bright as hell... I just feel like the game would've benefited from a simpler design where things look good but not like you're in a trailer with saturation everywhere. I feel like maybe they spent too much time worrying about making it look good, and not enough time making it actually a good story that lasts a while. Honestly if you see those graphics, you expected a long game... HK again, I expected a short game cause it looked rather simple but ended up being long, Ori was the opposite. It looked complex but it was just 10 hours and done... I just feel like they wanted it to look good, get people excited about that (and the music) and then get away with a meh story and meh world building. Sorry for my lengthy comment I just got into it and I love writing lol. Sorry for comparing it to HK sometimes, I also used a few other games as reference cause I feel like it's not just HK related. But yeah all in all, I think my expectations were raised too high by both other people saying Ori is amazing just like HK, making me expect HK greatness. As well as being very hyped up by the graphics and music thinking this is gonna be amazing. So yeah that's it, just too high expectations maybe comparing it too much to HK in my head, and just not aligning as well with my game preferences (combat related stuff and difficulty). It was an alright game, if I went in expecting less, I think I would've enjoyed it more but, when I played it, it just didn't live up to the hype for me. Have a good day and enjoy gaming. Whether you like HK, Ori or both, I hope you have a good time playing that game.

I played ori for the first time this weekend and i agree withe the damage scaling to a degree. While i dont mind the enemies doing more damage, there is no reason the spikes/any other non-moving, damaging object, should scale up the damage. But otherwise i thought it was a very good game. Im playing the sequel as i am typing this so clearly i enjoyed blind forest. (Update) I beat wotw. Liked blind forest more but not by much. It fixes the difficulty scaling completely imo.

I played it on the switch and it is a beautiful game. Maybe one of my favourite 'metroidvanias'. The controls take a bit to get used to, but the game also gently guides you to get accustomed to them. Also, some mechanics are just a bit unuasual (ledges and floaty platforms were weird to navigate for me initially), but they follow the games internal logic and I am fine with that. Hollow Knight, however, is a game I could never really get used to from a general gamedesign/direction choice. I can still appreciate its impact and it is one of the great metroidvanias, but not one of my favourites (Blasphemous ❤).

As i just have managed to finally complete the original version of Ori and the Blind Forest, with years of frustration, a long break and having to resort to third party software to make it possible to play the game, i genuinely feel alot of its controls and enemies are really terribly optimized. And me personally, i dont see any possible way to compare Ori and the Blind Forest to Hollow Knight, having played HK during the long break i took from Ori. Both have vastly different gameplay and hell, Hollow Knight felt alot more forgiving As one of the shown reviewers mentioned. The projectiles fired by enemies to dash over spiky sections definitely had terrible timing, not even firing in the same rate as in other locations. And the difficulty. The worst section was without a doubt the Ginso Tree. Super confusing layout, difficult to navigate properly and the feeling of urgency made me incredibly stressed, resulting in atleast a dozen ragequits. The only way i got past it was to send someone else a copy of my save so they could beat that section. But even with those major problems, Ori and the Blind Forest is a truly visual feast, with a wonderful story. Too bad it required a re-release which i did not want to buy to apparently balance out the difficulty and other issues. While it may be some time before i even consider buying the sequel, atleast i am more prepared on what to expect. And hope that the devs and designers have learned from the first release and kept everything a little more balanced.

I think it's funny how many people compare it to Hollow Knight when Ori came out first. Sure the combat in Hollow Knight is objectively better than the Blind Forest, but I also find that Hollow Knight seems very stiff in its movements. That is definitely more of a personal thing, but I think the controls being floaty actually gives you more time to think or redirect yourself, and does in fact create challenge. Though, they really should've made the stomp ability... a button... not the down que on the joystick.

That's weird, I mean I am guilty of comparing it to HK but what do you mean by stiff in its movements? I actually did not like Ori's movement at all haha.
@ArtHeartAlex
@ArtHeartAlex 9 месяцев назад
@pear4576 the movement feels stiff and very fast, which isn't smth I'm a huge fan of since I have a slow reaction time compared to other people. It's just a preference

@@ArtHeartAlex That's fair enough :). I experienced the opposite. But honestly, HK being my first metroidvania probably had smth to do with it. And I think maybe had I started with Ori, I would've thought HK had things not going for it. I love Hollow Knight, I didn't like Ori as much. But I completely understand if you don't like Hollow Knight and love Ori. And despite our differences in preference or love for a game, I hope you just enjoy whatever games you play :). Sorry to hear about your slower reaction time, I hope it doesn't disrupt your life too much other than in games!

This game is perfect. The only negative point is that Microsoft had to make some mistake as usual and this mistake is due to the trophies not working properly. Everyone who complained, only complained because they are bad at the game.

Suggesting that the game is perfect and that anyone who criticizes it is simply bad at the game is fanboi-ism at its worst. I adore these games and I gave "Blind Forest" a 10/10. But then I played the second game and realized just how much better the first game could have been. As much as criticizing "BF" for its combat is like criticizing chess for its graphics, I'm sure I'm not alone in observing that this was a worthwhile addition to the second game that facilitated boss battles that helped to add variation to the overall gameplay. By the same token, while bash is an excellent mechanic and one of the most creative additions to platforming I've ever seen, it was so good that it became a crutch or catch-all to solve all problems. I expect this is why they limited its use cases in the second game and introduced a variety of similar mechanics with different use cases that help to introduce variation to the gameplay while also complimenting the bash mechanic. I picked up Ori because I was looking for a Metroidvania game. But I'm not sure "BF" really qualifies as it's very linear. You do unlock skill upgrades, but they aren't meaningfully used for re-exploring previous areas. This is another thing they remedied with the second game. The world is bigger and decidedly non-linear. As you unlock new skills you can go back and explore previous areas to access parts that were previously inaccessible. The story is another area of Ori that is frequently mentioned as a positive. However, the story is quite minimalist in the first game. The second game explores exactly the same themes, but I feel does a much better job of narration and really takes time to paint the big bad as a tragic character rather than as the purest incarnation of evil. The skill depth and customization was also lacking in the original game. The trees were linear with a lot of pointless filler skills (e.g. buffing your single boring combat skill repeatedly when the game probably could have benefitted from leaving combat out of it entirely). Again, the second game resolved these issues by adopting the Hollow Knight system of allowing individually upgradeable skills that can be swapped in as needed. Basically, everything that made the first game great was done bigger and better in the second game. So as great as "Blind Forest" is, it still had plenty of opportunity for improvement and Moon Studios did a fantastic job of building on an already excellent concept. I don't think you have to be bad at the game to make these honest criticisms even while acknowledging the game was great.

@@HardcoreCasualGW2 I agree that it’s unreasonable to call this game (or really any, but still) perfect and say that everyone with a complaint is bad, but a lot of these specific reviews, while containing some fair criticisms, really really just look like people who were bad at the game. It’s extra unfortunate since most of them probably wouldn’t try the sequel, which greatly improves on the first game

I don't like how people write reviews after 1 or 2 hours of gameplay. Ori in my opinion is an okay game. That's it. I hated trying to 100% it but my first playthrough was a dream. If people look past the annoying parts and try to at least get through most of the game they will see if the game is right for them or not.

You can compare this game with any other metroidvania other than Hollow Knight, and this game still sucks. The reviews have several good points. I already win this game in Hard Difficulty. And finish the game, just for completing it. Because i was very bored. The controls are really clumpsy. Trying to jump from a wall to another and ori goes up in the wall, dying to spikes. All the game is full of spikes or traps that mimetism with the backgound. Incluiding spikes in the front or background that damages you when you are in a a middle line. I die multiple times because i stepped in a spike that i didn't see. The combat is horrible, multiple times the best option is smash jump and fire at the same time. The big enemy that split in 2 smaller parts this same proccess 3 times for a total of 8 little sparks in the screen. The 3 direction attacks makes bad enemy interactions. The Boss chases are all try and error until you found the correct path. Etc, etc, etc.

Hiii, As u can see from my profil picture I'm a huge fan of hollow knight. I've Always Heard about ori (both the games) becouse everybody was Always comparing It to HK. I finally bought em both and today I've finisced the blind forest. Unfortunately, I liked It BUT not as much as the masterpiece that everybody says it Is supposed to be. I haven't enjoyed It that much but not specifically for the reason that the reviewers you mentioned said. Maybe becouse of huge expectactions but I think that It has GREAT FLAWS for being a 9/10 in everybody's opinion. For me It's not about missing your ex and searching for a new partner as u said (even though i understand what u Say). About HK (without Just saying that It's beautiful) we can love the plot, that Is supported by a veeeery complex worldbuilding about a veeeery original story. At the end, those are the things that makes us fall in love with a videogame, becouse that Is a narration form too, After all. So, connecting the dots, I liked the graphic, the illustrations, I LOVED many of the level design. But i Just can't understand how people are sooo in love with the game, becouse of the story. I Just don't enjoy It that much as I was expecting from a famous and huge production as Ori. It's not becouse of it's semplicity, It Just isn't organic. Why Is the forest dying? Why ori Is supposed to be the chosen One? Why did the weird aurea of the tree killed the Kuro's chicks? And last but not least, what Is the point behind the super unoriginal "Spirit" stuff? I mean, It is totally unexplained. Those gaps and holes really are a flaws for the worldbuilding and the game in general. These are problems also becouse the game really doesn't have an original design in general, the biomes are normal biomes like forest, cave, a Lil more spooky forest, the super mainstream Lava Place. I'M NOT HERE TO COMPARE THEM BUT HEAR ME OUT: in HK those places tell their stories Just with background elements, enemies and a few things else. In oriBF this doesn't exist and there Is NO WORLDBUILDING AT ALL. These are flaws that in a game shouldn't let u reach more than 7,5/10 in reviews (personal opionion even though I guess many would agree) The characters are like Carnival masks, they can be described in 3 or 4 words/adjectives. At the end I really feel like having played a potencially masterpiece, but not a real One. Byeeee let me know what u think if u have time to read the whole thing ahahah

@nevadachi Год назад
Why the forest dying? Cause kuro stole the light from the tree. Without the light being carried by the tree the entire forest starts to die. Ori isn't the chosen one. They just happened to be the last of them. Why the light of the tree killed the chicks? Good question i guess we can assume it was too overwhelming for then when the tree tried to find Ori after they got lost. I dunno what you mean with unoriginal spirit stuff? What do you mean it's unexplained? This ain't HK. They ain't even comparable imho. You say HK gives it's world building with just it's in game elements. The good bold show don't tell. Which is great but it's far from being the only method. The world building is there in Ori. You just need to listen to dialogue. I replayed Ori recently and i gotta say i fell in love with it all over again. Movement in this game is so fluid it's like swimming through the maps.

@@nevadachi idk, i played the Will of the wisp recently and change my mind a Little bit. You are right about the answer, I guess that makes sense. With "unoriginal Spirit stuff" I mean that is a source of Power that Is linda unexplained. Or at least, i Guess It comes from the tree but idk. Ori has a lot of problems. Inconsistency of enemy AI for solving puzzles, there is no exploration, it gives you the illusion of exploration(You go someplace you're not meant to without the proper abilities you soft lock your game). I know people like to talk about the story, the story is on the level of Chinese manhwa, it seems ok until you take 20 secs to think about it. Music is great. Gameplay is great apart from the problems i talked about. All in all it's about 7/10 in modern day ratings, if this was back when there was a selection of good games to choose from then I'd say 4/10. As for people complaining about instant death, you are probably too young to have known the NES days
