The Patreon money goes to DSG staff & players, not to Toast. The org needs a revenue stream which for now is only from Patreon (& maybe sponsors/merch soon), it won’t be sustainable with just Toast throwing all his money at it. Also when has Toast ever said he’s broke in a non-sarcastic manner? The org’s broke since they actually make no money aside from what they get from Patreon or tourney winnings.
