I showed this to one of my clients, who is a music nut (as am I). He's an elderly gentleman with an acquired brain injury, but he and I talk music non-stop, every Tuesday. He was so moved by this performance that he started crying, then I started crying, and it was fucking beautiful. That's the power of music. It transcends race, religion, age, sex, injury, health, language, background. It brings different people together effortlessly.
The reason she can do this is coz this is her story too, she has also done the hard yards, fought the fight to perform, battled the establishment. This is definitely what you call a storytelling performance the lyrics were Eminem’s but the soul was Kasey & we are so proud of our Aussie sister
To be honest, when you said I'm ready , I laughed to myself and said, nop, you're not ready. Thank you so much I really enjoyed your reaction. Much respect .
A quote from Kasey referring to this song: “Eminem has been one of my favourite songwriters for many years. We listen to a lot of him in our house. I’ve been mostly influenced in my life by writers who bravely put fearless emotion into lyrics and no one does that better than Eminem. I don’t really care too much about what genre music fits into, just that the sound comes from a real, authentic place from inside the artist."
Thanks for your pure, spontaneous reaction. I've watched 150+ RU-vidrs fall in love with Kasey and her epic brilliant, genius musical composition. It really is a re-imagined creation by Kasey and more emotionally profound. Her (and her band's) performance still gives me cascading tingly chills. All the best from Debbie in Australia. ✌☮🕯💙
There's only one thing as good as watching Kasey Chambers sing Lose Yourself for the first time and that's watching a true Eminem fan watching Kasey Chambers sing Lose Yourself for the first time. But you took it to a whole nother level. Fantastic!!
Fun facts . That's her brother on guitar with the harmony and her dad on the slider guitar. This was professionally audio recorded but not visually. They put out an appeal on facebook for fans to send in any footage they had and this is the result. great reaction. And .. Em has seen it and given her rights to profit from it on spotify etc.
@Laraine3 Not a lap steel guitar, just a steel string guitar played lap style. If you want to see lap steel, check out Robert Randolph - he also plays lap style, but his main instrument is lap steel.
Ohhhh! Man! Snake, I have watched well over a 100 reactions to this & hands down 10000% yours is the freakin best!! Knowing you’re a mad Em fan I was so pumped when I saw this pop up, and was filled with anticipation & excitement to see what you would think & how you would react. I got even more goosebumps watching you “feel & appreciate” this mind blowing homage to the great Eminem!! I’ve even mentioned it a few times in comments on Ren reactions when I could see in your history you hadn’t reacted to it. Raw unadulterated Brilliance! I was totally blown away when I first “experienced” this Phenomenal performance, amazing arrangement & pure to the emotional interpretation of Em’s masterpiece - just legendary!! Em gave her his permission to release on Spotify, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman (from Australia, youngest ever inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame). But this was next level genius & so personal for her. She has lived every second of this story. The performance wasn’t filmed, she put a post out after the show to fans present to please send in any footage, the compilation of which you see. The band killed it, matching & building with her energy brilliantly. Long time band member Brandon (I thought it was her brother but have since been corrected) on guitar & the vocals that nurtured the momentum & her dad on slide guitar making it sing like a phoenix - all of them together made this one of the all time best live, for me a rebirth, not a cover, that I’ve ever heard, seen & felt….to my core. I’m going to watch your reaction over & over - I had chills from my head to my toes with you. Thank you thank you for your fabulous reaction & respect shown to Kasey and for putting on your “hoodie” as approval & for standing up for her, I damn near cried 👏👏👏👏she worked on this arrangement over lockdown & is a huge Em fan herself & had always wanted to do this at some stage - it’s just the absolute best!!! A million thank you’s Snake - you’re the bomb my man 👏👏🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Loved reading every part of that! Happy to hear you enjoyed it so much! I appreciate Kaseys performance and all of your kind words. Thank you for being a part of the community and showing support always. Much love my friend! 🙏❤
@@snakevenomv Much love back at you mon ami, I’m super grateful to be part of your wonderful community & for you. Really was my all time fav reaction to this one ❤️
Her beef is with her management. She's won 14 Aussie type Grammy awards. 9 #1 country/ folk albums and still finds it hard if not impossible to tour other countries 😊
'The Fairy Voice Mother' said......."Kasey beats that banjo like it owes her money"!..........if you want true emotion and talent from your artists, just check out Kasey's performance...................for real..........
Love this! The first half sounds like the sorrow of someone who knows they had 1 chance and they missed it. The second is like she somehow sees another chance and she knows she has to go for it with every ounce of her being. She literally left it all out there in this performance!
The guy on the lap slide? That's her Dad Bill Chambers! And the clip was put together from the footage that fans were asked to send in as there were no professional cameras there that night. How cool..
I've watched so many Reactions to this and yours is by far the best I've ever seen! Heaps of people have "attempted" to sing along and failed, but you obviously know the song that well you easily picked up Kasey's cadence and matched it. Your excitement matched mine when I first heard it and I still get chills. Excellent Reaction! Thanks.
I so thoroughly enjoyed watching you experience this for the first time. It was such a beautiful true experience of utter sensory overload. I could see it in your entire body and in your physical reactions the way you started crossing your arms and rubbing your tingly goosebumps and just the excitement of it all is so much fun to share. And people wonder if magic is real.
Please treasure your ability to truly feel the music to this degree! The reaction almost didn't need words as the expressions were saying plenty. But the words did help too! :)
Brother snake. I absolutely love seeing you appreciating this song. Someone who loves Kasey Chambers and who absolutely loves your reaction videos. We are proud to call her out. Own. She is a massive fan of Eminem. Love again from Perth Western Australia. Happy New Year Brother
Time to dive into Aussie Pub Rock now mate!.👍 Cold chisel live playing "Wild thing". Spider bait official video of Black Betty!. Midnight Oil live doing Stand in line. The Angels live in Melbourne doing "am I ever gonna see your face again". John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes doing "when something is wrong with my baby ". Pick it up and run it all from there mate!.👍👍👍 Zebedee from Oz. 👍
I watch this video almost every night. After a long, stressful, exhausting day at work. For some reason, the mix of her hauntingly beautiful badass voice, along with the bands heavy perfection and your reaction not only relaxes me but techarges me to continue the next day. Thank you. Keep doing what you're doing. It makes a difference.
Phenomenal reaction! I love Kasey's spin on this song. Credit to Em's great lyricism. I enjoy seeing others feel this take as much as I did first time ❤
Putting the hood up. That's what great music is all about, no matter what genre/style. We all have our own version of "putting the hood up" whether it's internal or external expression. Great feel = great music.
I didn't know what I was seeing, not being a musician or related experience (I learned what happened from you experienced people), but when she took the pick off the neck of the banjo.... I knew something was fixing to happen. Love your reaction, sir.
Thanks for the great reaction, I've watched all of them on RU-vid and still can't get enough of this version, she's Brilliant and I'm really glad to know she Australian too.
Your reaction, in my opinion is right up there with Knox Hill, Stevie Knight, and Cliff Beats. They are the best in the business as far as i am concerned and you have just earned yourself another subscriber. Great breakdown brother.
Eminem has seen it and gave Kasey permission to put it on Spotify, so safe to say he approves! Kasey takes it to a whole new level, I reckon watching American's reacting to this cover is a new national sport for Aussies but your reaction was one of the best I've watched!
I've seen quite a few reactions to this song and yours is one of if not the most heartfelt, genuine ones out there. The thing is, your reaction to it embodies the exact same emotion and understanding that makes it a great song in the first place, and also the inspiration Kasey was guided by when creating it. Pretty sure a couple of the other band members had a say as to the composition in this bc with repeated listens you hear how good all their parts are. Peace.
I’ve been waiting for this! I thought you’d appreciate the artistry and her love of Em. The same raw passion in a totally different way. Best rewritten cover ever. We know you’re feelin it when you stand up!
Brother, that’s the only reaction out of the many (100?) I’ve checked out where each step of the way you were doing exactly what I was doing my first time seeing it. I mean, without the pausing. I was like, ok, alright, I dig it. Then ‘whoa’, I’m really digging this (goosebumps). Then it was ‘this is fucking crazy!’, and then ‘I’M FLOATING I’M JUMPING I’M CHOKED UP I’m SO HAPPY I’M SEEING THIS HOLY SHIT’!!!!! I think you paused at all the best spots and your commentary was crazy observant. Yours is the best reaction to this performance I’ve seen- you matched the rise in energy exactly as the song did! I cracked up when you mentioned Em’s build up to the climax as I knew what was coming and knew you’d mention hers vs his… awesome, man. Cheers
Love to hear that mate! It was a hell of a ride! Felt like reliving Ems version for the first time over again. Thanks for the kind words, cheers brotha 🍻
They got permission to do this from him But didn't have any footage so asked on line For people who took film of if could they send it in as they want to make a clip So everything from the audience on their phones and they laced all the clips together to make the clip The guy singing on guitar is her father and her brother playing in band as well One of the best reactions I've seen on it You need to listen to her other songs Check this out titled not pretty enough It'll give you a idea of her voice Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
This was a final encore for Kasey's country music audience most of them wouldn't even know the song and she still gets a roaring standing ovation at the end!! Best cover I've ever seen! Great reaction Man. Jon from Aus
I wish i could like this every time i watch it when im in one of my depressed states but need uplifting, and this is always on my goto feel-good reations....without looking like a stalker lmao.....@snakevenomv every time your excitement starts atlases picking up pick, it's like I'm watching my son xxx
Yes all the footage was recorded by audience members on their phones. They made a good audio recording and asked people to send any phone images they captured in and made a video out of it.
It was mobile phone footage. This was the first public performance. They had it recorded, the fans said it was special, so she asked for footage. Her big bro harmonised, her dad is on the steel guitar. He was in "the dead ringer band," when she was a kid, she and her bro joined after they grew up. She worked on this tribute, with the band during covid. She is a country singer songwriter, had some big crossover hits. The captain, not pretty enough, I Aint no Little girl.
Aww glad you enjoyed this I saw it a while back sorry I didn't recommend it to you knowing you are a big fan of Eminem.. I just assumed you had seen it 😮 very talented young lady great performance 😍❤️
Awesome reaction! You had no idea how much your day was going to change after watching this! People the world over have drawn inspiration from Em's song. After a tragic incident last year, I have drawn inspiration from Kasey's version. Everything from the lyrics, the musicians on stage, the phone footage and of course Kasey's heart wrenching voice, builds the drama and tells the story. All set in the mostly unseen stunning heritage listed Civic Theatre in Newcastle. G'day mate from Australia.
I've known Kasey's music for many years. I was never a real fan but liked her style, and her original music. I also know, and have watched her dad, Bill, perform at The Lion's Den in Far North QLD where I used to live. That bloke playing the slide, sitting down with hat, I'm pretty sure that's Bill. Anyway, I only heard this cover a little while ago and have watched a couple of reaction videos...But man, I had that same reaction to this song. Kasey absolutely killed it. And may I offer an opinion about why she sings with such passion? Her career and life have been a rollercoaster and the lyrics to this song really resonate with her. Just my thoughts. As Johnny Cash owned 'Hurt', Kasey has owned this song. If anyone has an inkling to hear another cover that completely changes the tone of the song, search for The Seabellies, and their cover of 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' by The Angel. If you've never heard the original, maybe listen to that first.
Our Kaset can rock out hard. Thats her Dad on the lap steel. She is well known for wringing every last drop out of that dish rag, often breaking down in tears after a song. Gotta love the girl.
